That carb wants to go in an ultrasonic cleaner, got one here in Rainworth if it helps? Don’t think you’re far away?

@@simonholland thanks for the offer that’s very kind of you. I’ve dropped it down to my local garage and they are sorting it out, Il ask them about the ultra sonic cleaning. Ive had to order a new diaphragm for the pump so just waiting on that now. Thanks again 👍

If it hasn't been run for years, you would be well advised to run it for around 50 miles of less and then change the oil again while the engine is hot. All of the old sludge will have settled at the bottom, and will circulate with the new oil. If you change the oil while it is hot the contaminents will be suspended in the new oil and will come out when you drain it. Excellent job on the restoration, it's a timeless bike.

Nice work. Im restoring a -82 xl500r at the moment and im very interested in which paint stripper you have used on the plastics. Thank you for shari g your work😊

Many thanks for the comment. It was aircraft stripper we used, which I can’t remember the name of it, il try and find out as my friend lent me it. It worked well but I wouldn’t leave it on to long.

I got one busy restoring mine it was standing for 15 years but got it backup and running pretty strong motor's on those old Honda's .

Im just wondering where I can get the speedo and the rev counter the speedo on mine is in kmh. If i can find those two then all mine need then is a spray paint.

i have been inspired to do my 1982 xl250r, so yesterday i pulled that bike apart and have found another bike cheap also to use two bikes to create one. looking forward to episode 6 in this series. i will let you know how i get on later. keep it up mate.
