Very good interview . Eastern Europeans like Polish, Lithuanian ,have been coming here a long time to work and their pay their way. they are amazed at the Irish filling hotels with welfare sponger tourists.

I see what I guess are Ukrainians in my local Lidl helping themselves by the look of it. Yesterday a tall fighting age lad wandered around for ages no basket just a haversack. Around a month ago security notices appeared in various sections such as meat.

He didn't mention the fact that Russia was asked by the eastern for protection from the western military supported by NATO after the overthrow of the Government.

Most Ukranians are Christian, and christianity is reasonable and built Western civilisation.

This was a great interview! Not all migrants are the same. This gentleman really seems sincere & has no desire to get over on anyone. He was trying to protect his family. This illegal immigration issue is still wrong on so many levels but there are some who a genuinely running for their lives. The difference between this man vs economic migrants is like night & day.

Through the screening process, he would be acceptable and would contribute to Ireland l. Good people as he understands. Communists will destroy any country, but so will blacks, Muslims and socialists. They will not accept irish society. Ireland is a small country and needs to unite politically or fall and decline as so many countries have in the west. America being the first. Again, through strict processing and limited numbers; he would pass and will strengthen Ireland because he knows integrity and hard work; and what it is like on the other side.

I wish this guy with beautiful Russian name Ivan all the best,hope his family will be safe.But the only truth he said is that there's a war in Ukraine and most military actions take place in the eastern part of the country.(well,hope his sympathy to Ireland is honest as well)But all his other statements about the conflict are lies and sound just ridiculous for people who know some history

Why is he not in Ukraine fighting the enemy? There are women and children still living in Ukraine and the women are still working there and the kids are still going to school.

Niall, I appreciate you having this discussion. I can understand this mans perspective as a Ukrainian Nationalist and its history with Russia. But it would be good also to hear too from someone from the east of the country. The previous conflicts he spoke about were all NATO/ US interference. NATO has trashed and destabilised so many countries and as a consequence driven many of these people to emigrate. Just look at the list, Iraq, Syria, Afghanistan, Libya, Somalia, Sudan....now Gaza, next Lebanon and Syria again. One would think there was a plan to destroy these countries and force people into Europe to destabilise us in turn.....oh wait there is such a plan. People need to understand who are the real drivers of this whole mess....the ones you cannot talk about.

I would like to put something in perspective in defence of this individual. For most peoples who never have experienced combat i suggest to go paintballing for once in a forest. You will be stunned and surprised how quick you get shot and killled. It takes minutes. Now, imagine in a weeks or months time the political situation changes, treaty gets signed and shooting stops. Doesn't that make those killed look foolish? Its brutal how politicians start a conflict that civilians need to resolve and by resolve i mean shoot each other. If this man, in few months can go back and live unlike probably his brother, i can see the point of his escape. I DONT CONDONE IRISH POLITICAL STANCE but i understand this mans motivation to survive.
