I'm not being fooled, I know what I'm getting into. Pokemon is comfort food. I pick up the next game in the series and add to my collection, and get more or less the same experience that has remained enjoyable for two decades. I guess if you're looking for replayability then it's a problem, but I'm not. I play it once, collect my digital monsters, and I'm done until they drop another game 2-3 years later. What's wrong with that? That being said, Legends Arceus is a PHENOMENAL innovation to the series and I hope they stick with this style for gen 9 and onward.
@@FerociousPaul The only problem I had with it was when my 10yr old finished the storyline for Sword in two days (so about 10hrs), and Shield in 6hrs. $120 dollars to entertain him for a weekend was painful. Then we bought the DLCs for BOTH games, which kept him going another week. He and his best friend still play it from time to time, but only to do raids--she has all the Pokémon caught in game, but there was very little incentive for him to catch them all. BDSP was pretty much the same but that was to be expected of a remake. I had played the original, and while there was more to do than in SwSh--talent shows, the underground, and then the Elite Four being such a massive pain--there is really no requirement to complete that last part. Arceus is different--there is so much to do, and so many side quests to complete. And to FINISH the game he HAD to catch 'em all. He finally faced off against Arceus Sunday night, after a solid month of playing. I'm not there yet--I have finished my main dex and am now working on the quests for the legendaries and mythicals. My favorite thing to do is to just go from zone to zone returning satchels to people, and catching/battling random Pokémon along the way. Having the real threat of losing my own satchel if I bump into something I wasn't expecting keeps it exciting. I also love the idea of Alpha Pokémon...ridiculously gigantic wurmples and spheals makes my life complete. I love the new direction, and hope they keep going with this!
Now that I've tasted the experience of wild Pokemon being able to attack the trainer directly, I can't see myself playing another Pokemon game without that mechanic.
i kinda like the starting line "in a realistic dystopia where the pokemon formula remains stagnant for 2 decades and everyone ate the same slop while pikachu held our nostalgia at gunpoint"
All I have to say is - This is exactly how Pokemon should be played. Because even in the Anime, stray pokemon are dangerous and powerful if you don't have one to protect you. I have never felt so afraid yet excited while facing a powerful Pokemon in the wild before. It's such a refreshing experience!
Exactly! I think that's what the game is all about too. That people needed pokemon to defend from wild and angry pokemon, and pokemon are cared for by their masters. It really is a symbiotic relationship. And this game really makes you feel that.
Yeah, I think after getting stomped by the Alpha Snorlax enough times, people in modern day Pokemon games decided not to let their kids take one step in tall grass. Total Yanmega parents, am I right?
As someone who had to farm nonstop to make over 4000 balls to continuously work on research tasks, catch every alpha and shiny, I can say I have absolutely used all those balls, potions, and revives. Also, I love that you can basically be the trainer that jumps people in this game. You can literally sneak up on the Misfortune sisters, and they basically go "Oh, FU-".
Yeah this right here I haven’t gone quite as far as you though (only completing every single Pokédex entry instead of perfecting them and not trying to get all Alphas)
I laughed so hard at the freaking Paras. Legends has made me hate Paras and Carnivine with a FIERY passion. BURN THEM ALL THEY JUST WANT TO FEAST ON OUR FLESH! lol!
I really enjoyed the change up in game mechanics. Finally I can take revenge on all those Pokemon who jumped out at me from the tall grass. Revenge is sweeeeeeet
@@Astrae82 It's a sad reminder of the difference between humans and Pokémon in the game when your starter levels up to a BEAST by the end of the game, and yet 4 hits will still lay you out cold on day 1 or day 100 >_
they were funny, but wheres enamourous? they totally forgot her. they could’ve gone with “ i dream of enamourous” a reference to 70s sitcom ( or was it 80s?)
@@SurprisinglyDeep but not the new ones, since after a certain point the developers changed the name to story of seasons. The marketing team then got them self a shitty developing team that just milks the poularity of the name harvest moon. So if you want to play nowadays a good harvest moon like the old ones, play a story of season game ^^
Honestly, the best pokemon game to date. I thought it'd be terrible, but after playing it next to Brilliant Diamond, this game was actually pretty solid.
@@shaksternano3752 I think the new Diamond and Pearl games are a waste of money. The graphics aren't great, and it really didn't introduce anything that new from the originals.
I told my brother years ago that Nintendo should do like a "Pokemon Universe" in a game which introduced all the regions in periodic dlc packages into creating a vast interactive open world.
@@Rob.N. That's pretty similar to what I had in mind. Going to all the regions, beating all the gyms leaders, the Elite 4s, and the Champions. And doing what the first generation of games has been inspiring us to do for the longest. "Catch 'Em All", and becoming a Pokémon Master.
“Complete the Pokedex so we can learn how to live along side Pokemon.” How do you complete the Pokedex? Well, you have to kill 20-30 of each species, some of which should be killed with a particular type.
No Badges, no Team Rocket knock offs, a deep story that isn't just about being a good trainer or caring about nature. The developers are finally learning.
Yup with so many Monster Hunter influenced stuff I was actually surprised they didn't make the battles between Pokémon play out real time. Maybe GameFreak felt that would be too much similarities. It's fun, don't get me wrong, but so many similarities it's almost Monster Hunter Pokémon edition.
I wouldn't group all the developers, more like the people who make the decisions at Game Freak that make impossible deadlines for anything other than copy paste.
@@wkdjester87 More like that would required too much work. Pokemon games always have that low budget feel despite their franchise being the biggest in the world.
@@dieptrieu6564 never said it wasn't difficult. I just was kind of expecting that "real time" combat style of Monster Hunter, while still knowing they probably wouldn't. Changes like that are more gradually done like how it is currently.
As a person who played this game I was waiting for the reveal of the true god of space which is not Palkia but the dude that will take all your money just to find one more free spot in the bag
Ive enjoyed the game a lot but it would be more interesting if some of the pokemon were hostile to each other naturally. It that happened wed probably had to wait another year
You know what if your character in the traditional Pokémon games just ignored the trainers that approached them, didn’t turn to look at them when they come over and just said “our eyes haven’t met I don’t have to battle you lalalalalalal”
boy oh boy, this Pokemon Game sure looks fun! I do so hope that the next one won't be laggy, glitchy, and a general love letter to the fact that yearly releases are a terrible idea that stifles any creativity and joy in the making of a game!
Give me a game with the open exploration and engagement with pokemon like this has but let me directly control my pokemon as they battle with actual combat instead of turn-based and you have all my money.
This game is easily the best Pokemon game I have played with Pokemon Black and White (as well as B2 and W2) being a close second due to how much I adored those games... honestly they don't need to make a full 3D remaster of Black and White, just pull a BDSP (though not as much as a 1 to 1 remake) and make Pokemon Legends Kyurem; you start in Lacunosa Town and have the lore surround Kyurem, you wander around for a while, you hear powerful footsteps coming from the Giant Chasm, as you approach the cave entrance, Kyurem lunges out and is about to attack when Cobalion, Virizion and Terrakion arrive to protect you from him Kyurem leaves and when you return, everyone laughs off what happened, claiming that the "Swords of Justice" would never protect a human, citing the tragedy that occurred a century ago (the one that made the trio cut ties with humans) but after you describe Kyurem, you're brought to the village elder... he/she explains that Kyurem fell to Earth a millennia ago, and has been known to descend upon Lacunosa Town during cold, dark nights to prey on the towns inhabitants! The story would have you piece together the story of Kyurem, how the heros of Truth and Ideals became enemies and how the Original Dragon came to be, with the final story boss being either Kyurem-W, Kyurem-B or even the Original Dragon itself! Now who wouldn't want that?!
So far i'm in love with this game, i'm addicted! I personally don't dislike anything about it. Lots of people are complaining about the graphics, but i like them. Pokemon always had its own aesthetic
My only complaints are that I wish more of the trainer battles were like 6v4 or something instead of mostly 6v1, and that like 95% of the wild Pokémon spawn in the same exact place, I’d prefer more randomness or variety in their spawn locations
@@Spoobley I agree on you with the randomness. But the trainer thing is intentional because people arent good with pokemon yet and arent good enough to control 6 as akari says after the begging trial. (what she said was something like you can go to the pastures to get your pokemon and fill up your team and that theoretically someone could use 6 pokemon but it would be near impossible to do and that no one has done it)
@@iceynitro223 Yeah I noticed that but I think its dumb cause one if no one has done it then why did the commander, beni, and the dude we fight at the end have full teams. Which im glad they did cause it was really fun fighting them but if pokemon are so dangerous and hard to handle then why did they have full teams and two why do i have 600 pokemon in my pastures. I think its a problem in most mainline games too that there are so many battles with people that have 1-3 mons. I get that its a kids game but if they want to step up their game i think increasing opponent teams is a pretty easy way to do it
@Gamer True Neutral 2 cracked well over 2 million sales and Xeno 1 definite is well past 1 million. Even if that is a small fraction of the total switch sales, that doesn't mean they didn't sell a lot. Anything that gets at least 1 million in sales still means a lot of people played them. Both are literally put in the top 50 best selling switch games. Which when you consider how many games are available on the switch is a pretty big deal.
5:38 I mean that's not saying much when Nook gives you loans with zero interest and no deadlines. ...Why do people act like he's a villain again? Also Mother Teresa baptized people without consent and that's not even the short of the controversies surrounding her.
As much as I love most of the new mechanics added in PLA I absolutely hate what they did with the combat, it feels like a barely functional, stripped down version of Final Fantasy X's without any of the strategy involved and stats and levels meaning virtually nothing. Literally the worst thing the Pokémon company can do right now is carry this butchered version of the battle system into the main line games.
This is exactly the pokemon game I've been asking for and I really hope they eventually abandon the main formula in favor of this open world-ish style, they just need to toss in some pokemon stadium and online lobby to perfect the experience.
I would actually love a new Pokemon Colosseum game. I know it's unrealistic to ask for every single Pokemon, but I still love the idea of using the actual Pokemon you use in the main games in battle mode. Plus the minigames were so fun!
Instantly liked the video after watching it for being the only video on RU-vid that talks about this game without spending a full minute for no reason talking about how you don't know how 'Arceus' is pronounced.
You must be as the Minesweeper guy. You must be as solid and steady as a mountain while striking as fast and as frequently as a mantis wielding a katana (or something.)
ahahaha the swing at the item satchel near the end there. He is the true villain! He kinda stares you down as you walk by him too as if to say "Hey... I could really use some more of that money you're makin'"
I'm surprised you didn't say something like "in the entery that proves pokemon fans don't know what they want". Because everyone either loves it for changing things up or hates it for changing things up (while also probably being the ones complaining it's always the same).
Paras came out in gen 1, was promptly forgotten about, then spent the next 25+ years training for its revenge. And then Pokemon Legends: Arceus came out.
I really need someone to make a compilation of all the new and innovative features in Legends Arceus compared to the pixelmon mod for Minecraft. It is seriously hilarious how many of the new and best systems have been in pixelmon for YEARS already.
It's nice to see someone else experience the whole "your team gets one-shotted" thing. Apparently it's not a real thing that doesn't happen, according to DarthMobileGamer or fukkin whatever that edgelords "my wallet wins the game for me" name is 🤣🤣
@@Ubu90 why would u even try to translate from japanese when the official pokemon company gave the correct pronunciation? if we follow your logic all of the pokemon names in english would be wrong because they're not direct translation of their japanese names
@@Ubu90 you can't say it's wrong when it's from the official source. secondly, japanese pokemon names are different from english and are therefore irrevelant. r-key-us is 100% correct. also, tell me you dont actually say 'arse phone' instead of 'ark phone'. get a clue
Okay the only thing I have to say which isn’t even an argument but chimecho and the neighborhood lady is the most wholesome story of 2022 and you can’t change my mind
You hoped for a main line Pokémon game that is like Legends Arceus. We all got what we wanted, and I've only played three games: Red, Crystal, and Emerald.
I was really sceptical of this game. But I gave it a Chance and its so good. Yea grafics are bad but the gameplay is amazing. I really hope they keep this stile for the next games
They refer to the game, the pokémon and the region as Arkeus, despite the first two being Arceus and the region being called "Hisui" (in the game) or "Sinnoh" (in other Pokémon games) ...
