Joshua has learned. He is one with the ACP, I gave him my blessing and he has spoken to others of it. Forever will he be revered as a saint of Browning.
I feel like the Sorrows should've had a more modest look. But that's just me. They're exposed to the sun and I doubt sunburns are fun after the fallout.
The modded .45 SMG has the stock and forearm of an M1 Thompson but the M1could not use the drum mag of the original M1928. To the weight issue, both versions were very heavy compared to other SMGs IRL.
the submachine gun is the iconic "tommy gun" or more speficly the military version used in WWII. its heavy weight is accurate as it's extremely heavy compared to other submachine gun's. the reason why you find it with the 20 round stick mag is because that's its military standard mod, the drum made rattling sounds when moving, this may be partly responsible for the "storm drum" nickname as it would (from my assumptions) sound like rumbling thunder.
Ox sorry but the acurate translation of the Greek on Josuhua's pistol is "And the light shined in darkness - And the darkness never triumphed over it"... And your "Και" should sound like "que" from "que pasa". The rest was very good! Joshua is my favorite character from the whole of FO3 and DLCs... Don't ask me why! Don't stop the videos, you are fantastic!
Pingas Pearce Pingas Pearce it's more obsidian' game than Bethesda. Bethesda were the producers, making the game engine hence a lot of repeated textures from fallout 3 and bug testers ( and if you played on the launch they missed a lot of bugs) still easily one of my favourite western RPG's though.
On the Survivalist's Rifle, probably it was battle damage and Mr. Clark was so used to the gun he didn't want to swap it out. This is not unusual. Soldiers often have lucky talismans. Audie Murphy (most highly decorated service man from the US in WWII and later a movie star) had a "lucky" M-1 carbine he carried that had been picked up by a fellow soldier who was killed by a mortar (I think) round and cracked the stock while he was holding it. When Murphy got back to his unit he so loved that carbine that he wrapped the wrist (where it was cracked) in wire and used it for the rest of his hitch. So, if it got damaged (say deflecting a stray Chinese round) it would be totally in character for him to keep it that way. I guess it has something to do with the old "there are no atheists in foxholes" joke. You take any edge (real or imagined) you can get to stay alive.
The phrase engraved on the slide of the pistol is from the Bible passage John 1:5, "And the light shineth in darkness, and the darkness comprehended it not." fallout.wikia.com/wiki/A_Light_Shining_in_Darkness
This series made me reinstall Honest Hearts so I could redo the choices I made. The Sorrows became more hostile in my game and a few other things that shouldn't have happened did happen, but I aim to fix that now that I'm playing it all over again.
The M-1911 (pronounced nineteen-eleven) is a John Moses Browning design. Mr. Browning created the prototype and patented his .45 automatic in 1905. He then sold the rights to Colt who mass produced it for the US military. The military adopted the Colt .45 automatic and it's ammo .45 Colt ACP (Automatic Colt Pistol) in 1911, hence the nomenclature M-1911. It's one of the most popular pistol designs of all time and my personal favorite. John Browning developed and manufactured many various weapon designs including the first pump action shotgun. Some under the Browning name like the auto pistol Browning 9mm High Power, others he sold to Colt, Winchester and later to the FN arms company (Fabrique Nationale) of Belgium. Colt may have won the west but did it with the aid of several Browning designs.
Lora Elstad: I don't have the money or computer to play it sadly. I have the base game on my 360, but it can't connect to the internet since a storm knocked out the cords. I did play through all of the DLC in Fallout 3 at a friend's house, but he doesn't have the money for the DLC for New Vegas. And, I actually haven't completed the main story of New Vegas. Could never decide on an ending.
Detective, That's rude. Not everyone has the money to buy what they want. Please at least try and be nice, or just stop commenting on posts. Edit: You do need internet to buy the DLC anymore, because finding the disks with the DLC is near impossible around me.
Lora Elstad: Thanks for being nice. It happens. I just hope they can learn to at least try to be nice. I'll probably play it at some point. The whole not being able to continue after beating the game is one reason I never finished it. Thanks for the thought~
Love that they mentioned in alluding to John Browning with the .45 pistol as this is one of many successful and iconic designs. There is also an interesting parallel to a real life .50 caliber AR-15 rifle, it is called the .50 Beowulf. It is not the same .50 as the browning heavy machine gun round like the M2 and the Barret uses, but it is a powerful but loud round that was made by Alexander Arms for the AR-15. An example of this appears in the Ubisoft game Tom Clancy’s Rainbow six siege for one of the operators.
Detective John Kimble well the Tesla armour is pretty useful, in new vegas( along with 1-3) power armour is just another piece of armour which is what I prefer. I didn't like the whole fusion core and power armour thing in fallout 4
Hey, Ox, the Gannon Family Tesla Armor is classified as a medium armor and has a DT of 28 edit: Misread chart, it has a DT of 26. Thanks Big Boy for the correction! End Edit. Making the Gannon Tesla Armor the holder of that title, not the elite riot gear/desert ranger armor.
20:26 there are two markings on the left horn og Salt-Upon-Wounds Helmet one is Odal which the Nazis used as a corrupted version of the Othala Rune, difference being Odal has the "feet" than the standard marking of Othala ᛟ and the other is the rune Sigel ᛋ, there is also a third before the Odal which looks like the Eihwaz rune ᛇ but turned about 90 degrees anti-clockwise. - - - - (This is on the modded version though, not the unmodded one)
Hey man, i just wanna say i love your fallout series. Going in-depth into the lore and all that, and cannot wait until you cover OWB and Lonesome Road ^^
I've actually been to the empty lot where Long Branch Arsenal was, used to live in that area. It's neat how they included that in a game based so far away. The lot has some woods, some fields and a water tower on it.
Just for future sake, m1911 is pronounced like the year it was made, it is also a .45 caliber, and the armor belonging to the ssgt, the rb probably stands for reserve or rear battalion, which would make sense if he was brought in as backup for shanghai after the yangzhe battle, also explaining why he was there for so long compared to yangzhe, as he went from front lines to a backup rear battalion. Just thought id share a little
In regards the the "bent" rear sight on the Survivalist weapon. this is not bent. it is an atribute common of the M-16A1/A2 US military small arms. when a soldier is first issued their weapon they are required to qualify with it. whilst doing so, they often at times need to adjust the iron sights of the weapon (the front sight moves up/down, elevation, and the rear sight left/right or trim). most younger soldiers do not understand how to shoot with both eyes open ( you are not supposed to wink, or "squint" with one eye shut when shooting)and because of this when someone uses a weapon that is not trained with the weapon system they do not know to adjusted for their "sight of aim". Thusly the rear reticle often seems bent, crooked, or out of true.
The Long Branch Arsenal lived on in the Fallout Universe eh? It's just a shell of its former self. That is insanely cool! I personally have a 1943 Long Branch No.4.
Late comment as usual lol, but i thought you might be interested to know that a light in shining darkness appears to be based off two real world colt m1911 models. The three holes in the trigger, skeletonized hammer, and slightly shorter barrel and slide are all characteristic of a newer model M1911 Lightweight commander, a lighter slightly more compact version originally designed for law enforcement and military officers in the mid 1950s. The sights however would be out of place on that model, refered to as "gutter sights" they were used on some m1911 officers models, an even further scaled down version with a three inch barrel and small grip frame. They were also used on colts mustang handgun, this was a subcompact concealed carry pistol/back-up gun that used the same architecture and design cues as the m1911 but scaled down to fire the .380 automatic colt pistol cartridge. The sight was design with nothing protruding from the top of the slide so that the gun could be drawn from concealment inside a coat or under clothing and there was nothing on the top of the weapon that could snag on fabric.
10 months later, and now I'd love nothing more than to pair the TLWR version of SUW's helmet with the Barbarian Armor from Breath of the Wild. A modder could probably cobble together assets from the Legion recruit armor, Dead Horses/White Legs armor, raider badland armor, and perhaps Embrace of the Mantis King! to make it lore-friendly. Perhaps replace the Sheikah symbol from the original armor with NCR, Legion, Vegas, etc. logos like the Courier's duster from Lonesome Road.
Thank you Ox for making these videos, you made me enjoy Honest Hearts even tho this is my least preferred DLC ! I hope you'll do a serie about one of the two lasts FNV dlcs, they're my fav ones :)
Spencer Millar I’m doing it over the “Chicago Cubs” baseball cap (13:36) It’s got a W! The White Sox use an S. Only the Nationals use a W.... but yes as a firearms nerd, and proud owner of a M1911, the pronunciation is horrible.
Ox I love your videos but for the love of god please pronounce the weapon's names correctly, the M1911 is pronounced M 19-11(nineteen-eleven) and it applies with the other guns showing the year they were developed
I'm probably not the only one that's thought this or maybe it's just me but the unmodded salt upon wounds helmet kind of reminds me of a predator mask especially with the shotgun shell casings on the back
Hey ox great job. Just a little correction if I may. The year 1911 is the year the weapon was accepted by the military and put into service. Not the development date. The weapons design is older than that.
JOSHUA GRAHAM IS A DESCENDANT OF JOHN MOSES BROWNING?!??!?!???!? Praise be to the House of Saint Browning Patron Saint of firearms and creator of the Holy Colt M1911A1, M2 Madeuce ,Browning M1917 Water cooled machine gun, and the Browning M1919 air cooled machine gun.
Pretty sure the M1911 was invented by COLT as a copy/response to browning making his version browning made the original which was the Browning High Power I believe... In history you’ll find a lot of weapon manufacturers made a weapon and then another company would basically copy it and try making it better
Has the desert storm war happened in the fallout universe? The desert ranger has a desert chocolate chip camo chest plate, the camo was used in that war/era
well I know,im french .it's just that the way he said it he just did not need the t at the end .it's just that in French e + t is the sound ê because otherwise, you don't say the t at the end. the way he said it mean fish bone
in my opinion the armor of the 87th tribe is the best armor in the game and it to is not faction armor but you need the lonesome road dlc and bombthe legion after you kill ulysess and then go to the aftermath and there is a ghoul centurion wearing it
I did a couple playthroughs with that armor before. It's the closest I use to Legion armor (not counting disguises) because it DOESN'T disguise you. You can wear the Armor of the 87th Tribe in the thick of NCR territory and you're fine, but then you'd have to have hostile reputation for them to shoot you.
And of course there's the perks that come with this DLC. You can look them up on the Wiki so I'll just give my personal opinions on these perks here. If you really want to get the most out of the guns in this DLC I'd recommend Grunt. Home on the Range and Tribal Wisdom are definitely made for Hardcore mode but otherwise worthless in my opinion. Sneering Imperialist is mostly there just for roleplaying purposes as honestly it just gives you an advantage against some of the weaker enemies in the game (except if you decide to do Honest Hearts at later levels because at level 40 on Very Hard going up against White Legs with Anti-Material Rifles are no joke. But a waste of a perk all the same.) Speaking of wasted perks there's Eye for an Eye but I guess if you went with the Small Frame trait it can work. But the real perk to pick with this DLC is Fight the Power which lets you deal 10% more damage against the Legion, NCR and Brotherhood of Steel, so definitely the perk to pick, especially if you're working with House.
I was putting one of every consumable item in the game on display and the black coffee exploded the next time I came home. I think one of my companions drank it.
The M1911 is one of my favourite real life guns. Along with the P90, Desert Eagle, .44 Magnum revolver and of course the glock 9. I'm a fan of pistols and smgs. I also like some shotguns and one or two sniper rifles. Guns are cool and all but what if we hadn't invented them. Would we have lightsabers by now? Would we fight wars with lightsabers? That'd be awesome. Aw my inner child. :)
Thanks for this series. I really enjoy your videos. I started with your video about the Minutemen being the commonwealth's greatest hope and I was hooked. I really enjoyed this because this DLC is close to me because I'm a Latter Day Saint. (no, I don't live in Utah. Haha) thanks!
One of my favorite DLC's for New Vegas, really wished that you could go back and forth on this one like you could with Far Harbour, as once you complete the DLC and find all the caches. There's not much to do as even all the Whitelegs stop spawning and Graham and Daniel npc's disappear so there's no longer any shops.
Hey ox salt on wounds armor mod comes from a game about the Roman Empire fighting trible barbarians or defiantly makes salt on wounds look more intimidating
Idk if he will see this but it'd be awesome if Oxhorn did a vanilla games unique weapons and armor video series. I'd watch it at least I think it'd be fun to see
If you have the right skills and perks the light shining in the darkness pistol can be a deadly and one of the most useful weapons in the entire game I found it to be my number 2 weapon I used everywhere.
your greek wasn't as bad as you think honestly, effort is always appreciated with this language. this will make no sense but words that have εύ and αύ (like eutopia/εύτοπια) its pronounced as ef or ev, and af or av, dependint on the rest of the word and language rules i never paid attention to, so αύτο is pronounced afto.
Hey Ox the mod that changes the mask is The Legion Will Ryse. But i do have one question. Would you be interested in sharing your mods? I can not get some of them myself since they require special access on gunetwork
oxhorn, an irl m1 thompson is a pretty heavy submachine gun. Like way more than youd think. You shouldve seen me pick one up for the first time underestimating its weight. Damn that was scary almost dropping it lol
this was a great series, I haven't played through any of the dlc for new Vegas so I have enjoyed it a ton. if you want to expand your game list of love to see more fallout 1 and 2 videos
Am I the only one that eats the Sacred Datura Root while getting hopped up on chems and the weapon Binding Ritual and charging into melee? The poison effect makes my character feel...high.
