U are so right about the full coverage bottoms, I’ve tried wayyyy too many cheeky bottoms that I hate bc they’re the ONLY option, I just want a full coverage bottom :(
H & M has incredible full coverage bottoms if you wanted to take a look… usually j black white and maybe blue, but MUCH cheaper than high end swimwear brands. Lasts long too
I SO badly wish the swimsuits had a place for cup pads! I just really can't go without padding. I had tried out the collection but had to return for that reason... which is such a shame because this swim collection is so so cute!
Cakes are a really good solution for this. They’re silicone covers that stick to your skin without an adhesive. They work really well in swimwear and I honestly prefer them to having to fiddle with cup pads. Because the pads always seem to be slightly visible and can get crinkled and shift around. Cakes won’t.
hopefully pushing the algorithm to more ladies! thank you for these videos!! as someone with a similar body type to you, they are SO helpful. my favorite bathing suits for my body type are Left on Friday- they make great tops for larger chests (no padding, but they're double lined), and a lot of coverage options for bottoms. the other brand that works for me is L*Space, and they do have removable padding and different coverage options for bottoms. both very expensive but the quality is amazing.
I feel like Popflex asks for our opinions and just does whatever they want anyway. 🙄 Got a lot of comments about full coverage and so, what do they do? Same stuff. Cheeky and unflattering shorts. Like cool, thanks for listening? I am happy to hear you mention the lack of just regular bottoms!
Your reviews are so amazing!! You have such great knowledge of design and construction details that most people don’t talk about. Just want to say that these reviews are so valuable for someone considering buying!!
Super glad I found this video, special thanks to all the girlies in the comments pointing the algorithm in my direction! Your descriptions were super helpful, and now I have a much better idea of what to look for. Thank you!
I like full coverage options for swim wear bottoms. I dunno a lot of girlies are out there looking great in the cheeky bottoms but it’s just not for me. Shorts are nice too but they have to actually be longer inseam. I bought a pair of like swim shorts that were like 3 inch inseam and they would just ride straight up into my crotch give like wrinkled wet diaper which is not the vibe!
I feel like literally no brands offer full coverage anymore 😢 My booty makes anything that isn't full coverage into a thong and I'm not really going for that look...
sometimes the swim shorts can be just as cheeky I agree!! they tend to go right up. I would still love to see more bikini shaped bottoms with full coverage - no one does that anymore!!
I get suits from a modest swimwear company limericki that has good full coverage options. I spent a ton of time looking and they have regular and high rise bikini bottoms and go up to size 4x. Otherwise my main go to is athleta. They usually have the full array and bra size tops.
I get my full coverage bottoms at target. They typically have several cuts including high rise in solid colors. Then i can get fun tops without having to pay as much. I don't know how people can tolerate swimming with a wedgie.... it's not even about insecurity it just drives me crazy!
Kathryn you have revolutionized how I look at the clothing I am thinking of purchasing. Thank you for the format of your reviews! Please do more active swim reviews!!!
The dress looked so beautiful on you but the second you were describing the slit and said “upper thigh”… I have been singing Guilty As Sin ever since 😂
Girlies unite!!! ❤ Also I so agree with brands giving many cheeky options for swim bottoms but then when it comes to fuller coverage, it’s just shorts. Really hope we get more modest AND cute options this summer ;)
This review made me realise that I’ve now been watching your channel for a little while😅 because the video I found you through was literally the Popflex swim review from last year! I had been specifically looking for reviews on that found your channel and stayed afterwards because I really enjoy your videos! Your reviews are always so thorough and honest!
I really enjoy how technical and detailed your review was! A lot of the time I feel like in brand review videos, RU-vidrs just say things like "I liked it" or "it's cute" but you put so much information in this!
I have to say that I quite like the contrast in the detailing on the upper and lower part of the white dress coverup. I think that the swimsuit top underneath will show nicely through and be the Center of attention, not the dress. And I link the kind of more sporty and covered upper part and the flows girly skirt, which is done very nicely. I personally never understood the appeal of bell sleeves. On me they just slide down all the time, which is a reason I only ever bought a top of this kind once. The green bottoms are great. I hate cheeky swim bottoms and the am really struggling to find nice looking bottoms that aren’t cheeky. I sadly mostly end up buying some from Arena or under armour, because they are the only ones that have the coverage I desire. The adjustable strap in the back is quite nice, I just don’t think it’s the best for tanning. Thank you for your review ☺️💐
I’m probably going to buy that cap sleeve swimsuit top, and then I guess I’ll return if the shoulder part is weird on me. As soon as you held it up I was like “ohh cute” and I know you don’t like the extra shelf bra; but for me, my chest is large to the point where I have designated sports bras for UNDER one piece swimsuits over the summer that I just throw away after a few months. I have to feel 100% safe if I’m going to be actually moving around in the swimsuit (its different if I’m just sunbathing) because there’s so much mass to my chest and I don’t like cleavage in places I wasn’t expecting, haha. Anyways, the way this new Popflex shows tan lines also is super cute in my opinion
Your makeup looks gorgeous! I am a one piece gal, I paddle board and swim in the summer so one piece works for me. The white bikini looks good on you! Thank you for the video!
Thank you for doing these videos. As a big busted gal (32G), as struggle with my love for cute af clothes and the reality of what actually works for me and I get let down a lot. This helps so much!
Personally I don't really like traditional bikinis (I feel mostly more comfortable in one-pieces or tops with men's bottoms) but I find these reviews super interesting and helpful. This is a bit vulnerable, but it feels nice to see how similar bodies are, regardless of size, where there are squished bits even when something fits pretty perfectly. Anyway re algo! I hope this videos finds the right audience.
Argh, yes the lack of normal brief cut bottoms recently is driving me insane! I have been looking for the perfect bikini for YEARS, but just cannot find it. I don't want my butt cheeks hanging out, and just want bikini bottoms shaped like a normal pair of underwear, not shorts. Don't think I'll be trying Popflex swimwear after seeing this, none of these designs appeal at all :/
Loved both, but def agree how annoying the lining on the top was. Great option on the green for a fuller coverage suit for family stuff! Thanks for sharing :)
i absolutely hate removable cup pads. yeah cup pads are important but you have to fiddle around with the removable ones for so long to get it to be in a non unflattering position but then it just moves around so easily and it never stays where it should be they're so annoying. sewn in cup pads for the absolute win imo
I hate removable pads 😫 especially how they have to get put back into place after washing, drives me bonkers. It's not an option to go without either, I'm not going nips wild in front of my nephews. The few bralettes/bikini tops I have with sewn in pads and no underwire are like precious gold to me 🤌
would love to see you review onewith swimwear this year!! it's supposed to be swimwear that fits like seamless underwear do (i.e. no digging in). always been super curious about it
I really want fuller coverage bottoms but with a higher leg cut so it's flattering in the front. But I can't find that ANYWHERE. I feel like it's not asking too much...
Thank you for talking about front coverage. I have a hard time finding swimsuits that cover my v properly. If there are so many cheekyness levels why does no one think about front coverage levels!
Thank you for the review! I find the cheekiness of the bottoms a bit odd as well, and I wish there was a more full coverage that is elongating the leg more. I ended up getting the bathing suit with the shorts. They look good, but I wish there was an option in between shorts and the cheeky.
I think that's to be expected considering it's not a huge brand. It costs a lot to create and supply different designs. Maybe in a few years she can have more but it's just not feasible at her scale.
That green cap sleeve top has been sewn incorrectly, they seem to have sown the outer to tightly. The dress has godet's at the bottom which is a nice touch, gives the bottom movement. That will be a Lot of extra fabric involved.
@@KathrynMueller I have to credit Strictly Come Dancing and Sewing Bee for the godet knowledge lol, I do agree they could have done something for the top of the dress though.
Love your reviews because we're similar body type but you are more athletic than I haha! I'm a fan of more coverage and I would love to see you try the romper, I love the vintage vibes of it
As always, I appreciate your thorough reviews! I think it would be more helpful if you specify the country that the cup sizes are based (e.g. US vs UK sizing). I know Popflex is a US based brand, so it would make sense that US cup sizing is used. However, they do ship internationally and other countries may use different cup sizing measurements.
I have the cap sleeve bikini top from last year (they did have it in the collection) and the straps fall off CONSTANTLY. Which is such a bummer because it is super cute otherwise. Also fun fact, those fabric insets are called godets.
the metals tassels are super cute, but can confirm that they get HOT. made the (mistake) of wearing my new popflex suit to a sauna and within minutes, they were burning my back.
For the girlies ❤ so idk if you’re planning on exchanging any of the items you got but I would LOVE to see how the bombshell boardwalk one piece fits you, I just got the white bikini after watching this but the one piece is so cute
Thanks for reviewing! I’m looking for an underwire bikini set with decent support (32C/D) and a medium to full coverage bottom for a family vacation. Would love any recommendations :)
Thank you! I've been loving the swim tops but haven't ordered because the size chart is so aweful for the swim pieces and I have no idea what size I'd be post-baby body. 😅
i also agree the first pair isn’t really cheeky imo, but it still looks nice :). coverups and bikinis are becoming so expensive it’s sad though 😅😢 thanks for the review always! ❤
Been waiting for this review! totally agree on the size chart for their swim. I was looking at the tops and could not figure out what size to get… I’m 32D so it was between XS and S but the size chart didn’t help. I agree with your cheekiness ratings 😅 the least coverage option it’s that cheeky. I would prefer a my bottoms even cheekier than that.
I have been wearing pretty much the same style of bikinis for ages at this point from the brand Tezenis. Really cheap brand because I can't afford any more than that. And the bottoms I get on the label say "moderate back coverage" and I swear it looks the same as the green bottom in terms of coverage. I've been wearing that style of bikini since I was 13. Sure I don't have a lot of cake to show which might be the reason. But I don't see why these should be called cheeky. Like I get that popflex is going for the more coverage just because. To me it's a personal preference. And if one wants very little coverage why not? Why shame brands when you can find something else to wear instead of complaining right? Anyways, I don't think they should redefine a style to fit their branding. Like calling high rise jeans high waisted type of deal. We get that low is trendy. But just because the low is super low doesn't mean the higher is really high. Same for coverage.
I got the coastline cap sleeve bikini top. It gets worse and worse. When I first put it on, the cap sleeves were so tight. Even though I was wearing the size I should in all their other tops. So I cut the caps off. Even then, the sleeves constantly fall off my shoulders. But it gets worse. I went swimming in it yesterday. Talk about bubble galore. That bikini top holds air like nobody’s business. Even in the sleeves. It’s embarrassing. I’d return it, if I didn’t already cut the caps off.
The cup sizes are definitely not accurate / too small. I'm a 32 large C small D (size S as well) and I really didn't want to be swimming in the cups, and I saw a model on their website wear the A-C cups when her usual size is DD, so I got the A-C. It's a little small but wearable, but I definitely couldn't dive in it, I would spill out for sure, and it offers me ZERO supports. But seeing you wear the D-E, I feel like it would definitely fit better - it's really not that much bigger than the A-C cup. Edit: I bought the top in a D-E cup and it fits perfectly. And I'm far from being an E!... Don't see how this size could fit an E.
I think the second bottom is a full cover- something of a more modest wear 😅 As for the sarong, I think a smaller bow with more fabric hanging would look great on you ❤
