SM really isn't afraid of making this kind of music and i like it. I know some people doesn't like this type of music but i appreciate them and other sm artist putting a different sound to kpop. This really showcase their vocals and rapping skills. Congrats for 200k 🎉

I love how Winter always puts that extra growl in her lines. When she says I am Savage in second verse. Even in Next Level when she says come on and next level. It sounds so satisfying.

Makes sense because SM for some reason, coordinates their boy group and girl group. This is from what I observe. Not exactly genre-wise but it could be anything, their style, character, appearance, mood, theme, over-all sound, etc. Super Junior- Girl's Generation Shinee- f(x) EXO- Red Velvet NCT- Aespa I won't include their 1st generation group, but even HOT and SES, DBSK and The Grace somehow compliments each other. It's good because I love the interactions between SM groups, especially with their counterparts. This is why I agree with your analysis that Aespa is like NCT. :)

As a SM STAN for years I'm not really surprised how SM produced this kind of music every group has this unique concepts and discography that differ to other agencies

I'm a new to SM ent. because Aespa is my first SM group to stan. And all I have to say is that, their songs are so unique and out of the world, it seems like they have their own way and structure of music, and very far from being generic. It gave me a bigger and deeper look into how music works and I'm so in loved with that! Back then, I was so confused on Next Level because it's so new to me, until it grew on me so much. And then Savage came out, and I can't comprehend it anymore aaaaaaaaaaaaa😫 Anyways, all this means is that I'm so in loved with Aespa rn. ps. I'm not a fan of girl-crush or baddass concept, cuz I'm mainly Twice stan, but this song made me fell in love with this kind of concept. Thanks for reading my essay!

Nah I don't think you need to be afraid of saying things sound alike at times, especially among SM groups because well, mostly the same people are involved in producing their stuff and as someone else already mentioned here, SM does tend to coordinate their boy groups and girl groups with each other in some way since early on. The first examples I witnessed personally were DBSK - CSJH The Grace & Super Junior - Girls' Generation.

I've stanned sm groups since 2011 thanks to snsd, I can tell you there's no safer sound with sm, that's why I love their groups hahahhaha somehow it works though.

Karina's dance was sooo on point and her rap? It was sooo gooood and her vocals tho, her voice is soo powerful and raw. An ace, she is an ACE.

I am not into girl groups, but I'm interested in aespa and the reason is I was expecting a girl group to do this kind of music. I am a hardcore nctzen and I see what SM did it :) (I appreciate talent and good music so I like and listen to many music of girl groups but I'm not a stan of girl groups in general)

Also, you’re right, as a NCTzen I too have been attracted to aespa more because they carry on NCT’s style. I really like 'Savage' and the mini album! I love how pretty much any song that SM does in general, switches up, has new styles and beats in the middle of the songs. Creating songs with multiple styles and sounds in one song is kind of SM signature thing.

As far as I know each song is a step towards saving their ae after Black Mamba, the virus infected them + the internet . The song Black Mamba is about how everything started and the beginning of the group’s journey to save everyone. Next level is about traveling to the world of the ae (forgot the term for that world) and in Savage they are about to confront the Virus/ Black Mamba. In the first part of Savage the virus puts them in an illusion. Karina‘s ae has the smoke around here in the mirror shot, indicating them being trapped. This also happened in their first mv trailer. Also the hate emojis, fake Giselles etc. is a hint for that. With the first super punch by Karina she is able to free them all, the glass breaking part. And with the second super punch by Karina + the gun power of Winter (they all have unique powers which are explained in their own character introductions) they can push the virus back (middle part of the song) but not for long. So in the last Part Naevis comes and creates a path to the Black Mamba aka the virus but by doing that she needs to reboot. Naevis is also the link between the world of ae and our world, called kwangya. That’s why Aespa thank her and say they will get her memories back etc. (lyrics). In the last part the girls can finally confront the Black Mamba and „kill“ her yet the wave at the end was the Mambas venom. Leaving us with no clue what happens next. If I got anything wrong about the story pls inform me otherwise I hope I could help. Also I am a stand since yesterday, just watched every video I can find about them and Winter is also my favourite. But they are all very good! 😄
