The japanese lyrics are clearer. The song is about: I am famous, fabulous but I do not know who I am. In korean the meaning is more obscure, I am famous, everybody wants me but I am lonely. The dance practice is great, the japanese dance crew has less focus on visuals and more on dancing. What you call "fast popping" is the legendary Taemin vibration that you can see in SHINee's everybody, SuperM Super car, etc. ...

Taemin's japanese songs are great, and his japanese dancers are god level, as always. It's better react to original version. Lyrics can be different on other language. And it doesn't sounds right.

I'm glad you reacted to this! The actual meaning behind this song is quite dark - as symbolized by the 'death' surrounding him in the MV. The lyrics also seem to allude to his crazy fans who are in parasocial romance with him. It's also more about how he's oppressed by fame; he's separating himself from his public image. It's also one of his best choreographies IMO so I definitely recommend for you to check out the dance practice video! Thank you Aaron once again!

"I'm famous, but I don't know who I am ..." I remember backstage when they discussed with Bewhy what kind of song they would sing together. Taemin said that since he is forced to lie and keep silent in order to protect his privacy, sometimes he confuses what is true and who he really is. Since he has to live a double life (celebrity and ordinary). That is why they wrote and performed the "Pinocchio" song.

aaron if you're interested there are songs that taemin made choreographies to himself: artistic groove and day and night day and night (2017) has an mv, there's no choreo in the mv itself, but you can watch the live stages. taemin also had a big part in composing this song, and had 2 days to wrote the lyrics and made a choreography artistic groove (2019) is taemin's personal favorite from want album. there are 2 versions of the choreo, the first one is on music bank 190215, the final one is on arena tour concert 2019, with a lot of changes. but both versions are great and worth watching

The overall meaning is quite similar but one tiny difference between the original japanese and korean lyric is what adds way more to everything in my opinion. In the korean one he says "Famous, everybody wants me" at the end of the chorus in the japanese one he says "Famous, until I break". it's a little subtle difference but the implications of the japanese one are way more obvious, he's saying that will be famous until he's of no use for the people around him anymore

Taemin did a song calles "Pinocchio" with the rapper BewhY. They did that song because they both felt themselve slip in halfs and not knowing their own identity anymore because of all the "lies" they present to the audience. Really deep but great song.

You should be careful with relying on Korean versions of Japanese songs. In this case I think the meaning is pretty well preserved, but for instance with Exclusive (a b-side, but a wonderful song) it's been changed a bit. The Japanese original is quite bold and to the point. Korean version is more tame and less specific.

I think it’s always better to react to original Japanese lyrics (if the song is from his Japanese discography), cause frankly Korean translations are usually worse than the original - less edgy, less poetic and usually not so exact (the meaning gets somewhat lost in translation). You definitely need to react to the dance practice, but also the live performance from his Xtm tour is an absolute fire! His Japanese dancers are in a league of their own and it’s really worth seeing them dancing with Taemin on the real (concert) stage.
