In my opinion Hasbro going back to rival can mean two things 1. Hasbro realized hyper is a failure. Or 2. Hasbro realized that there is still a huge demand for rival blasters
@@adamaglionby7438 Dang yeah when you bring up ultra, maybe hasbro has big plans for hyper. One reason I do think it will be going away pretty soon is all of the blasters have had a permanent drop in price of almost 20$ across the board, little kids dont want em, and neither do the grown up hobbyists. It has a TON of potential and its a shame that we havent seen it live up to that potential at all yet (except for rush 40 with a hopup)
I'd argue that the hypnos fulfilled the springer, mag fed "alphatrooper" role, but admit that the "p90" esque loading system did make it harder to quickswap mags, and it is definitely more bulky
13:19 I just love how Drac instinctively HK slapped a non-existent charging handle. Can't tell if it's because of the blaster's likeness to a UMP or if it's just a general SMG habit.
SMG habit. After a lotta exposure to HK platforms, you kind of get it engraved into your memory with anything that loads the magazine with a front-facing angle.
While I personally am not the biggest rival fan, this definitely is a quite cool option. I also like the look of it, and have a feeling Cybran can do some interesting things with this for some of his integration projects.
I wouldn't even really say the Hades is in the same class. You have to be pretty dedicated to the heavy weapons play-style to make that work. The Pathfinder I think will have a good niche as a Rival Alpha Trooper.
I genuinely like that it looks like a 3-gun AR/racegun, but sci-fi and safe for public games. The stock, adjustable sights, and mag compatibility (making a return) all have me excited to use this one as a plinker, as well as a primary for public games once it’s safe to be around people again. Looking forward to picking it up.
@@stevenbobbybills oh for sure. That skinny-mag-9mil-PCC/PDW look. And the aggressive angle of the mag really sells it. A darn handsome look overall, and excellent in this color scheme and overall silhouette. Genuinely can’t wait to grab two-one to keep stock and one to mod
@@EdwardCoplinBatman My partner’s immunocompromised with other medical conditions. Omicron has risk of breakthrough transmission, even with vaccinations (which we have). So. Not gonna risk contracting it/bringing home to them. But thanks for telling me it’s okay to give it a run. Appreciate the input!
H&K UMP 45.. mag angle, square nose, aperture rear sight is nice to see, the fact that it has windage, and elevation is indicative of some new team members
I'm excited to see Rival making it's return! The main thing that really hurts this is the same thing as most Rival blasters, that being it's lack of modularity
They say imitation is the best flattery. That being said, Captain Slug should be positively glowing. Everytime i see the Pathfinder, all i can think about is how heavily "inspired" hasbro was by Captain Slugs RivalBurn.
Sadly the Hades is discontinued, but I have seen from time to time that Barnes & Noble still carries them between their physical stores and online. I'm just glad that I picked mine up before it fell off the shelf, because it still remains my favorite rival blaster to use in games
this still looks like a MP5... all that would be needed it to turn it from a springer to a electric flywheel smg. i can see a couple people trying that, hell i would to, if i knew what i was doing
This is an awesome looking blaster, and so are the other two, I am very glad that Rival’s beginning to make a comeback. But with how far that magazine sticks out, this is begging to have curved magazines. Honestly I’d love the look of that a lot.
6:40 Don't worry too much, Drac. It looks like the above clearing over the foregrip is smooth enough for someone to add their own Alpha Trooper like grip.
Good, honest review, Drac. I think any of the shortcomings of this blaster could easily be remedied by 3D printed parts. I think the real test of the new Accu-rounds is going to be how well they perform in modded rival blasters.
I am so glad RIVAL is not dead !IMO it was their best ammo type. Now they just need to introduce some new RIVAL accessories. Maybe like 30 round RIVAL drum mag, that would be amazing!
Interesting that they're going back to the 12-round mags. I thought those were dead...but I do think the clear plastic was better for keeping track of remaining rounds. I greatly prefer the older style but I'm glad Rival isn't dead!
I think the mag curves forwards so that it doesn’t look like an stm-9 in the dark I guess Edit: the grip not going around the barrel like the alpha trooper lets you add things like body mods, flashlights, lasers, and other stuff
Wouldn't mind seeing: - A better pump grip (obviously) - Railing for the top - Extended stock - Flared magwell - Different sight inserts/adjustments (if the iron sights can't be removed without cutting) For the railing though I hope the iron sights are just separate plastic so that they can be swapped out, if not then guess we'll stick to what's on top. As for the stock, you can make the parts snap/screw onto the rear end since there is a gap and geometry to do so~
If I'm not mistaken, this is the first blaster to have a large paddle mag-release, nice! I agree that this is a really cool new blaster, and I think it looks super sweet! Thanks for the review Drac. 💙💛🧡 P.S. I love your zip-target/dart catcher invention with the box!
I do agree that the magazine facing forward is super odd. Other than that, seems like a solid springer. I'm super happy to see that Rival has made a comeback!
I just like how it looks like an smg style gun, other than that i wouldn't really use it cus its pump action and its easier to just use hopper fed rival
the thing is multiple dimples on goofballs improve the range and accuracy and speed of the ball compared to a more smooth ball and the more hexagonal dimples give a bit more air flow so making them More aerodynamic
I am glad this is compatible with mags. I own a lot of them I got from someone, but only have one blaster that uses them. Every other blaster I own has internal mags
After doing a bunch of research, this video included, I just dove neck deep into Rival and spent about $200 on blasters, mags and ammo on Black Friday deals. I've always stuck with dart blasters before now.
even at under 30ft, there was more obvious drift in the footage with the OG rival rounds. I'm not attributing that to the dimpling. It could be wind. It could be the fact that those are probably used rounds, not factory new like the brand new blueberries. But c'mon Drac, at least own up the the difference.
Impossible. You can see the look of pain on his face when he has to admit the mothership has designed a decent product that performs as advertised on the packaging. But remember he is Dart Zones darling so don’t expect anything else.
Rival never won me over, but my cats just love it, so it looks like I can keep getting them new and interesting new toys for at least another year. I'd really thought rival was done, to the extent where I hoarded ammo for them. They don't like generic rival balls--must taste weird.
Me and my brothers had a nerf war on Christmas day and I got this gun as a gift so I used it and I pumbled them, I liked tge gun and found it very accurate and where ever I aimed the ball hit. The only time the ball didn’t go where It was supposed to was when a bad ball was fed in (and when the distance was greater than 80-90 feet). So I like the gun a lot.
This blaster is a disappointment. Rival is back, and all we get is a smallish rifle with a mag that sticks out too far and definitely looks like it’ll become a problem to use in the long game (or long battle really). With how broken the rival meta is, you’d think they’d try to recover from that somehow, but apparently not
I was prepared to overlook its ergonomic foibles... but NO slam-fire??? That takes it right off the to-get list. Thanks for saving me whatever these are going to cost!
maybe 3d print a foregrip pump and if there isn't anything necessary in the stock you could chop it and do a sling loop or a stock adapter. also do a pic rail and a cheap airsoft optic up top.
Is it just me, or do the regular Rival rounds travel further than the new rounds (I'm guessing that they're made in a way that dials down the distance they travel but makes them more controllable for players)
Ditto on gratitude for the early review, Drac! New Rival is a big plus. Though with this one, the forearm smash into the mag whilst priming seems a demerit. Aaaand the stock screams to be extendable, dare I say what coulda been a Raider stock upgrade w/ N-Strike attmnt? Looking forward to your Honest Reviews of the rest of the line. -Scopes Maverick
I get the sense that more than loaning genes from the Alphatrooper, someone took a long hard look at a Talonclaw. My first though when I saw it was "huh, an official Talonclaw for rival, that's neat".
While I like the design, I’m actually kind of glad it isn’t better than the Rivalburn. That being said Hasbro totally whiffed it by not making the magazine angle back towards the body with how popular that design is (see: Vector, Halo Infinite Commando)
Now who wants to bet that Hasbro will treat this ammo as a gimmick instead of adopting as standard. Like Accustrike. And Mega Accustrike. And Accu-ultras.
At least you got a decent magazine. Got mine in today and the bit on top of the included mag is loose so it can barely contain itself and is prone to ejecting its blue balls while loading the mag up. A couple globs of glue on my shell too... it works, but I might need to do some sanding or try some glue solvent. Edit: yeah, as I'm watching closely yours is a little loose, but mine I have to underload it. I can literally see the rounds trying to escape as soon as I lose focus on loading. Putting it in the magwell while it's trying to eject balls is irritating.
The mag I'm vaguely interested in. Will it take standard 12 round rival mags? These up coming blasters are cute, BUT it's like the Vision is specificly designed to not take speed loaders. Which... is counter productive. The more I see these Accustrike varients, the more I see weird things. This seems more like a response to the Nexus Pro. Like it's a "big" blaster to mom and dad's eyes. 20 bucks cheaper, and has the same profile. I acturally think they did that flat pump grip to avoid more direct comparisons. Or just call it baby's Max Stryker with it's baby blue look. The other issue I'm seeing is just a probelm hasbro has in general. There are. TOO MANY ammo types, and variations. Like when the original accustrike darts came out, Hasbro should have just replaced all in production blasters with that ammo varient. Instead, you just can't find accustrike darts. So with these new variants. You're just not going to be able to find the balls. Your blue balls will be yellow because inventory simplicity? Idk. Reduce ammo variation, consumers are stupid and just buy what's infront of them. Even with Google. You look at your dart or ball and go, "oh this is what it uses now, must be the best" and then you throw your Rival Accustike blaster away because the ammo is 50 dollars for 20 balls on Amazon. THANKS! Yes, that is Hasbro's fault. Ultra is less then a year old now and has 3 ammo types, and I've never even seen a box of pinpoint darts for sale in stores. All I see is screamers. The last little thing I have in my mind is that, didn't you say in a video that your source at Hasbro said the team is tired of making rival blasters? Like they're out of ideas? Hyper's downfall is the ammo type. 20 bucks for 100 balls is stupid. There's almost a 0% recovery for them. Plus they stick together and jam up in the blasters more often then not. They should take those hopper designs and put them in real Rival blasters. 15-20 ball hopper side arm would be cool. With a hopper? It would probably be the size of a Roundhouse. All in all, dispite my comments seeming negative. I see no real issues with these. They're all safe simple blasters. I'd get these for a 12 year old. I can't wait to see the folks at Nerf night with them. (I'm cheap and have 3 or 4 projects I need to do)
I'm simply curious, would it hurt to title these videos 'Honest Unboxing'? They make absolutely wonderful unboxing videos that have a place, but are not a good video to use as a review in the same way as some other channels' reviews. It's a first impression, rather than a full opinion. I'm not saying to change the titles of ALL of them, but to start titling future ones unboxings. Have a BLAST of a day!!! 👍👍👍
I think hasbro should make a series that is really tactical but does not shoot that hard then they could sell a mod kit for a specific blaster that modders could buy and have a beast mod that was designed for the blaster if they do this they can get around toy laws and make really good blasters
like it just the mag is the only issue. if they did a drum mag instead where the balls rotate around it can shorten the mag length while keeping the 12 rounds. standard spring changes and possible adding a small foregrip. i like it but its definitey needs to change that mag angle.
