Thank you for your review, my campus is Tysons if I do decide to go with Chamberlain. I have a Bachelors in Science in Health Sciences and love the feedback. Any advise with the HESI entrance exam and where they sent you for clinicals?
@theluckienurse
@theluckienurse Месяц назад
Hi! I got a prep book for the exam, which I think helped me out. I also went on Quizlet and it was surprisingly helpful! Tysons corner is interesting because it is in the DMV… so clinical sites can be in dc, Maryland, or VA. Virginia hospital center was a popular site when I was attending chamberlain. I personally did my peds rotation at Children’s Hospital in Washington D.C.

I recently had a very bad professor in my NR 222 class, it was such a horrible experience, I questioned finishing, and she bragged about teaching community and capstone, I hope I dont every have her again, she shouldn't be teaching. No one cared for her in the class she couldn't hide her prejudices against certain people it was awful. I passed the class but it was horrible. Thanks for making this video
@theluckienurse
@theluckienurse 3 месяца назад
I’m sorry that you had that experience. Some professors REALLY should not be teaching, and it makes a lasting bad impact on students. Honestly, the turnover was so high at my campus that it’s possible that by the time you get to community and capstone, she may not even be there anymore 💀 hopefully you’ll have a better professor when you reach those classes

Hi there! I appreciate your videos, especially as someone who is just about to finish their undergraduate degree in Healthcare Administration! I have enjoyed working in the hospital at my Internship as a healthcare administrator but feel a strong calling to nursing. I would love to get started sooner than later once I finish my undergrad in December but feel a little bit lost. I was curious if you had completed nursing pre-reqs before starting at chamberlain or if you completed them while at the program there. When did you start studying for the HESI exam prior to applying? Also what would you say the age range is in terms of your classmates in your cohort? I’m looking into moving somehwere completely new and want to get a fresh start but also want to be able to make friends while being in school. Lastly, I understand that chamberlain accepts credits from your previous uni. Could that potentially speed up the time in school to get closer to getting a job? Thanks! :)
@theluckienurse
@theluckienurse Месяц назад
Hi!! Thank you for watching my videos! I think it’s an amazing career move to get a nursing degree after a HA degree because there is so much that you can do in healthcare if you have both! I went to community college to complete some of my pre reqs before entering Chamberlain’s nursing program. It was great because I ended up saving thousands of dollars by doing that. Chamberlain will let you transfer in with credit, but you have to speak with an advisor first. Also, I started studying for the HESI a few weeks before taking the exam. Good luck!

I can’t find a nursing program that is going to allow me to work full time at all. I’m sorry but I don’t have a husband like these other women do on RU-vid. It’s just me no kids. Just me. It has been very stressful where I am thinking about giving up on being a nurse. Because i have to pay for school out of pocket no grants nothing is available to me at my community college. I can’t settle for a CNA job the pay is to low for me to be able to take care of myself. 😢🤦🏾‍♀️

Would you consider an LVN program? It is a shorter program, the cost is usually lower than an ADN program, and you will still be a nurse upon completion.

For me cost is not an issue because they reduce the price for service members so it would be virtually nothing out of pocket for me to attend but the military does require a certain amount of credits per term how many classes on average did you take per session? With the rigor I’m nervous it may be too much to follow the military’s guideline. Also it’s seems as though even Coming in with your degree it still took the full 3 years for you should someone coming in with college credits expect this?
@theluckienurse
@theluckienurse 2 месяца назад
Hey! If you enter into Chamberlain‘s nursing program with all of your general education, credits completed, it will still take at least two years and four months to complete the program. If you transfer in with a bunch of credits, but still have a few gen eds complete, it may still take you three years. The reason for this is that Chamberlain only allows you to take one nursing class/clinical at a time. When I first started the program, I believe that I would take about 12-14 credits a semester, which made me a full time student. Because I transferred in with a bunch of credits and could only take one nursing class at a time, I eventually was only taking about eight credits a semester. Since Chamberlain is accelerated, they don’t go by semesters. They go by “sessions”. Each session is eight weeks. So when you’re looking at a full semester, you need to count the amount of credits that are taken over two sessions, which would equate to a traditional 16 week semester. If I were you, I would reach out to an advisor at the campus closest to you, and they will be able to tell you what credits they would be able to accept into their program and how long it would likely take you to complete the program. They will also be able to map out your entire time at Chamberlain to see how many credits that you will be taking each session/ each semester, and then you should be able to plan accordingly from there. Good luck!!!

I didn't realize Chamberlain had an ABSN program for those who already hold a bachelor's degree. Our Chamberlain campus in California only offers the accelerated 3 year BSN program even if you've already earned a Bachelor's degree. A lot of my peers have a bachelor's degree but still had to do the BSN.😫
@theluckienurse
@theluckienurse 3 месяца назад
Hey! So Chamberlain‘s program is an accelerated program. You can enter the program with or without a previous degree. It’s accelerated because instead of a traditional four year program, Chamberlain‘s program is three years. I entered into the program with a masters degree in healthcare administration and a bachelors degree in communications and marketing, and I graduated from Chamberlain with my BSN

WOW 90k That is trash! I would never suggest any NURSES get into this much debt. Yall look at the loan repayment calculator. Good luck paying 700+ a month for a Bachelorsm. Most nurses don't even make 80k straight out of school.
@theluckienurse
@theluckienurse 2 месяца назад
@@pinkrosesfly I agree that it is an insane amount of student loan debt. That is the one major downside of Chamberlain! I think it depends on people’s situation. All students have the option of completing pre-reqs at a community college and transferring in credits to decrease the cost of tuition (this is what I did so I would not graduate with a $90k loan). I will say though that as high as the loans can be for private schools, nursing is one field where you will always be guaranteed a job and a way to pay off your loan. I have a friend in my cohort who is starting a job with a six-figure salary. So she’ll probably be making about $7k a month after taxes and payroll deductions, and she’ll likely have to pay $400-$600 a month in a repayment plan. While it’s not ideal, that would still leave her net income after paying student loans at over $6k a month… which is significantly better than it would’ve been if she didn’t go back to school at all.
