I was extremely mesmerized by S1 until fortunately my friends showed me how fucking garbage Kirito is! To be honest Klein was the much better character and MORE RESPONSIBLE THAN KIRITO EVER WAS! Still the dumb chicks all fell for the Main idiot for some stupid, Storyteller wishful thinking garbage! S2 is a good change. Finally Kirito reflected on his irresponsible behavior and regretted what he did in Aincrad! Still dumb harem plot line though (making Klein look like a fool again! Dumb) S3 is also nice since the story was much better and more dynamic storytelling! The anime cared for the characters, making Kirito less significant and much less overly OP. Good point! S3 is the best though the harem shit still bothered me! Everything else was good. Especially seeing all the old characters and Eiji was great! Good shit! Unfortunately the Kirito related stuff annoyed me again (Boy got too much plot armor up his ass). Good thing Kirito wasn't depicted as the OP protagonist! Many side characters had a chance to shine. The ending though with the alien Overlord was complete garbage and honestly was the most stereotypical BS I've ever seen! Didn't expect such a dumb, unsatisfying ending! It made me vomit and hating S3 a little bit! They should have made it an open ending when Kirito got the source code for Underworld and stopped right there! But nope gotta get that shit alien plot in somehow! Great ruining what could have been a great legacy! Thx Storyteller!

You forgot to mention how the science team, before pulling Kirito and Asuna out, had to delete their memories because the human mind can't handle 200+years of existence. Then, instead of just doing that, they cloned kirito's mind and keep it in a computer because he basically wanted a super smart sentient AI. Not only that, but kirito expects this, and the first thing he does is tell the dude he knew it would happen. Because he's so cool, of course.
Asuna taking so long to arrive actually does make sense. At this point, the Underworld is running on 1000:1 time compression, so 1 second in the real world equals 16:40 in the Underworld. Just taking a few seconds to initiate the STL means hours pass on the battlefield.
Thanx for having the patience to go through the anime series that's famous for flipping everyone's brains! To give the kicker explanation, the power-system from the very start of the Aincrad arc has always revolved around Mental Will-power: The reason Kirito is OP is that He's always been an emotionally weak kid who hides behind layers of self-image personas of himself being JUST SO COOL to everyone else. Instead of therapy sessions, he uses VR escapism as his own coping mechanism exercise for self-improvement. By finally excepting his traumas and failings holding him back, the guy basically becomes a god of the reality he always fantasized for because he's Just So Cool! I just wish Eugeo's ghost would stop ruining awesome moments for me. I needed more Broculi MVP recipes for my entertainment dishes though, that knight is one of a kind GOAT meal best served!

@@LunarEquinoxbut actually, I think the web novels explain it better, (also I know I’m a year late, but I kinda got back into SAO due to progressive, and started re-reading the timeline.) Kirito was the best beta tested during the SAO beta period, due to becoming a shut in around 2016, and focusing all of his time on games, and programming. (the year he stopped doing kendo, which would be around when he was 9, and around when this started.) He became a neet and secluded himself to gameplay and programming, become a fan of Kayaba, and starting beta around I think 2020-2021 (Sao proper launch around January of 22, and everyone got released around 2 and a half years later.) Mother Rosario reversed retconed Kirito, by showing through Yuuki, that through living through the world long enough and becoming almost one, it allowed people to go beyond what normal people in the game are able to. (Which explains why Yuuki was so busted in mother’s Rosario, b/c that was the only life she would, and could have.) Kirito as explained inside the original series, and manga, is a fucking neet, it’s so bad that it caused the incest arc ☠️ So kirito becoming so good, is probably because he sacrificed so much of his life to the game in a form of escapism, from both reality, and the real world, and years spent as a neet, allowed him to overcome certain parts of the system, something I think Kayaba was trying to learn about, and the main reason why he trapped Everyone in the death game, and created Yui, who was the first technically AI. Kirito from all the retcons wasn’t OP, it’s because he sacrificed so much of his life dedicated to games that he got to the point he did. (He didn’t have friends, he isolated from his family, and really, the only company he had was Klein.) Dude made his own misery, and in the end, used it to beat the game. (Ironically, SAO abridged actually addresses it, and I think it matches up, and would’ve been a good this if SAO proper addressed it.) Like, dual wielding great swords is pretty fucking bad from a battle standpoint: due to how heavy they are, and the fact that SAO takes both in-game battle functions + IRL combat ability, it makes sense that nobody besides Kirito did that, since it’s practically suicide: one great sword tends to have a weight and strength good enough to parry and deal enough damage, and is big enough to deal with enough damage, at the cost of being too heavy to be done with one hand, doubled thatc and your making a bigger liability, due to the weight distribution being too high, making you too slow, and allowing people to get more hits in, and without proper adjustment, just worst combat than one sword. It’s the reason why nobody irl or in any age, would ever use dual great swords, with at most, being short swords. even fiction people like Radann in Elden ring, don’t do it, since it’s not worth it, and even tho his great sword are big, their relative to his body, Kirito’s is literally the same height as his swords :/ even if it gave more damage, most people don’t do that. The fact kirito was able to do that, speaks more testament to his own delusions, and how accustomed he became to the world, and a foreshadowing to the ability of being able to warp it, which is why he’s so OP. (Like Yuuki did due to being inside the world 24/7) Yeah, SAO Kirito Is plot armor man, but when you take in the web novel + the anime, kirito is just a dude, who shut himself in, and sacrificed most of his life to gaming, which got him entrapped inside of the game, and got him so accustomed to it that he began to be able to alter it. When kirito killed people in SAO, he was around 15-17, he wasn’t a full adult, and had to kill people to survive, that would scar any person, and from the Inner monologues of the web novels, he regrets it to a degree, and feels the stress of people believing in him, even tho he’s just a normal guy. *The cool act was just a facade.* And it broke down during alicization with Eugeo’s death, something he truly felt, since besides the moonlite black cats, that was a close friend who died, someone he spent years with, and he died, and Kirito couldn’t do anything to stop it. (Even if we believe him to be a advanced NPC) Kirito and asuna are barely 18 inside of current continuity, and seeing and experiencing so many of their friends die has skewed their sense of reality, even if we believe it hasn’t. Eugeo technically is the first close death kirito has ever felt besides Sachi, since back then, he was helpless to the massacre, here, he could do something, but his body couldn’t hold on. He has survivors guilt, and it culminates in him trying to rip out his own heart this season, thinking he wasn’t good enough, and that he doesn’t deserve to live, not because he murdered, but because he couldn’t save everyone, and couldn’t keep his promises. He had despaired. but Eugeo (or what’s left of him.) reaches out, and tells him to live, and that’s what leads him to the end of alicization. Kirito is a deep character, kinda just wished the Anime and seasons didn’t fumble the ball with all the bullshit fanservice and weird misunderstandings, and fucking, asuna and Alice battle and asuna not just telling Alice that her and kirito are engaged, like god damn, that was bad. But web novel stuff, not so bad, ngl. (Also I know I’m a year late, but I’ve spent the past week researching this, and haven’t gotten enough sleep, so I think it’s fair.) So kirito; op protag, 100%, reason, almost as bad as why he is so good at the gaming. (If I remember right kirito also stopped going to school at some point, so that also happened.) Did he deserve it? I say yeah, since everyone else that went into the game had a life before that, kirito didn’t, and I think that’s deserved. (AGIL had a bar, Asuna, Lizbeth, and silica all were going to school, Kline was with friends and by that time, out of high school? Every kinda had a life, so I think it’s justified) Sao, not the best anime/series ever, decent? I say yeah.
This is for those who want to know about Kirito and some of the characters sudden power-ups. If i remember correctly, Kirito power up after he woke up was because of how the Underworld power system works, authority and imagination. Basicly in the Underworld you can gain more authority easily( The Underworld equivalent to levels) from taking lives as shown when Quinella was gaining authority from killing those fox looking creatures (the main reason she made killing taboo was to ensure no one can surpass her own authority) and if you kill someone with more authority than you, you'll gain that person's authority levels. So since Kirito was the main one to defeat Quinella he gain her authority, giving him access to the abilities Quinella had. There are probably other ways to gain authority levels other than killing most likely practice and education, I dont remember the anime showing much of that though. Imagination is the biggest reason why some characters have sudden power-ups as Kirito explain in that ep where he dueled the First seat, in the Underworld imagination can play a big role in how strong someone can get in the Underworld. I dont read the LN though this so if there's anything wrong pls correct me, have a good day everyone:).

SAO is truly the definition of "brain off have fun" I love SAO bc of how absolutely nonsensical the story is. Pokémon has better story writing ! But even if the characters and story are one dimensional, it has its own dumb charm that I love. Don't get me started on the fights either, whatever season it is (aside from s1 p2) they're all just amazing and over the top. The best way to sum up SAO is as the most anime-like anime ever.
I don’t know, memes and jokes of bloggers about bad writing/brain off are one thing, and objective reality is another. Bad writing jokes have stopped being relevant since Season 2. I don't understand what it's like to maintain an irrelevant thread. I mean, this show and light novel literally has a "good writing" award, not to mention dozens of other awards. What is the fault of the show if some people watch it incomprehensibly. These are not the show's dumb moments, but some of the viewers who watch the show are clearly not with their eyes and catch lulz with their own ignorance, spreading misinformation.

I have enjoyed your videos, but I also do like the original anime and light novels. Probably a rarity among your fans since many comments seem to be trashing the show. I don't know if you were serious or not regarding not paying attention to why Kirito could fly and do other nigh-impossible things. One poster started describing it regarding authority. And he touched on the main thing using imagination. It is called the incarnate system and it was talked about in the anime, but fleshed out more in the LNs. While not the same as Neo in the matrix there are some similarities. But what I wanted to mainly say is that Alicization is what really starts to link SAO to Reki's other big series, Accel World, which also uses the incarnate system but to a lesser level, along with several other links. The anime was sadly cut short as it only got a few episodes before the series really picked up.

Came here (12-12-22) after finishing the last episode of SAO Alicization WoU. Wanted to know what others thought of it. Lol, especially since my man DraconisMarch quit making RU-vid videos disparaging SAO. Lol, watching these types of videos making fun of/critiquing SAO really makes me aware of just how non-sensical this anime actually is. It's similar to the first season of Yu-Gi-Oh! where all the card effects were made up, Lol. That said, I totally agree with you at the end whereas, I also will normally always enjoy watching a bit of SAO, even if I have to turn my brain off to watch it. Lol, just watching Jesus-kun and his harems Lol. The whole concept really kind of ***** with your head, kind of like the Matrix did. I found it weird how they actually went ahead and made Alice Zuberg into an android with a robot body. That was bizarre. If that happened to me, and I had to go to the real world, I would probably want to go back to the Underworld, Lol. Well, next on my list to watch is the Ordinal Scale movie.

Just finished watching War of the Underworld today. I absolutely loved it. After Death Note all the newer animes sucked (constant comedic relief =-goofy faces/eyes, etc.). Finally a show that is serious, epic and genuinely entertaining.
3:39 Reminds me of the Ascians from Final Fantasy XIV (Then again, so does the whole "Priestess of light" scenario) - Still, close second favourite arc (Maybe would've been first if they kept things true to canon, and had Asuna be the one to bring him back to reality) Eugeo appearing in the Blue Rose sword kinda made sense, because it was likely that some of Eugeo's soul still remained in the sword despite him being dead himself. As for how he survived, don't forget that while his fluctlight was pretty much cooked - it was still intact, so it was kinda evident that by restoring different fragments of his memory... they would've been able to revive him. Still confused as to how Yuna was in the game despite never being revived in Ordinal Scale though

Just finished the series so far Alicization is so good at the start but it feels like they retcon so much stuff in the later half of war of the underworld Their powers are heavily based on belief and willpower but then things just start happening without rhyme or reason
