If it was my quad, I would take the muffler off, then ride it to see if the "tinging" sound is still there. If it goes away, I would take the muffler and shake it to see if something is loose inside it. I had a stainless steel muffler that cracked a weld, on the baffle, it had a strange "buzz" sound, at certain RPMs. If you're going to repaint it, maybe you could cut one end off, remove all internals, then reweld the end on, so you can retain the spark arrestor.
The plan is to take it off and just put the stock exhaust back on. Like I said, I’m pretty sure I’m trading it in on a new quad in the fall so I might as well put it back to stock. I may sell private because of the market right now so if they want the MBRP exhaust they can have it. Thank you for the idea though, it’s a really good idea if I decide to keep it for another year.
I don’t recommend the sound of the MBRP a on these smaller machines. The bigger machine get a different style. That mixed with the fact they are a bigger output they sound great. Do your research but it sounds great and horrible all at the same time.
On the Polaris it definitely sounds like a coke can. I think if it was a full pipe and obviously the quad being a bigger CC it would sound great as the king quad and the RZR do.
