Honest Review: The Stryfe X (NERF Pro For Real) 

So basically they have taken community ideas and turned them into an injection molded product. Pretty much sums up the hobby nowadays.

For anyone naysaying the price, do this: Price out the entire cost of modding up a comparable Stryfe, including: - A Stryfe shell+grip heel+batt door - Cage+motors+wheels+wire+connectors+switches - Soldering iron+solder - Battery+charger+alarm(+fuses and other safety bits if you want to be detailed) And then factor in all the experience to make all that actually function, and let me know if you're able to get a lower price, or a safer and more convenient power source.

The LiPo is really where the big development is. Being able to have onboard charging and protection for a 3S battery is huge. know a lot of people are rightfully worried when using LiPo's for safety and to have an option to play with them in a controlled manor really helps to justify the price.

Most excited for a Pro Rapidstrike and Stampede!! Let's gooooo!!! Thanks for keeping it real! I agree with a lot of the points about the shell. On the other side it sort of opens up the secondary market for magwell adapters (flaring), barrel adapters, and picatinny rail adapters. I know you didn't open it up as of this video, but I think they made the right call with a geared mechanical pusher. I do love me a solenoid, but something to be said for the reliability of the mechanical while still having a great feel. Personally for competitive play I know the select-fire is a cool feature, but I often find myself preferring the semi-auto solenoid or a mechanical pusher. I also like that they put some new engineering into the flywheels and the cage is solid. You will probably be disappointed in the internals not being compatible with anything, but then I don't personally see the point in modding it much as it's doing what I want. For me the biggest sell is the no-fuss lipo. I bought 2 just for my younger kids that physically can't play with a high powered springer and I don't trust them with hobby lipos yet. I get it's a bit pricey, but it's a huge step that will continue to grow the hobby. I think it's a big win.

Drac, i always appreciate you being critical of Hasbro. I do think this blaster is one of few blasters made by Hasbro in the past 5 years that is somewhat worth the money (albeit im never paying full price for this. And i think this blaster is a miracle where hobbiest finally squeezed something through the Hasbro mold.

When sales get this down to around $90 it’s an instant buy from me. Even compared to great flywheelers from Dart Zone, nothing beats the form factor of a Stryfe for me. And that battery is sweet!

The eyewear warning thing on the top is extremely easy to remove making a perfect gap for a control panel/amo counter W Hasbro on that one 😊

With War comes innovation and Hasbro just entered the arena. Let the battle between Dart Zone/Hasbro and others commence.

for those wondering - the battery isn’t solely a battery, it’s a charger, battery, and battery protection. That is why it’s too big to fit without the extension. Also, you’re definitely not better off wearing sunglasses over the actual eye pro.

I'm really curious if the production models are going to perform as well as the review models. I'll probably end up grabbing one at a 2nd hand store, or when it's on clearance.

I'm a big fan of the battery and I think that will make LiPo power accessible to people who don't want to mess with chargers and alarms. My buddy, an amateur modder, and professional attorney, said the "won't-kill-your-family-in-their-sleep battery" is pretty valuable. Great review Drac! The MK-3 originally retailed at $130 This is $119.99 on Amazon. Thats pretty on par with offerings

Although the Prime Time/Dart Zones just instituted what amounts to a launch cancellation of the Omnia. They're pulling it for now and rolling back to October for their second production run to hopefully fix issues people are seeing in this first wave of Omnias.

I’m relatively new to this hobby and I’m really enjoying plinking. I don’t have the skills, confidence or tools to mod, and because I’m based in the UK I don’t have access to dart zone or adventure force. I’ve watched several reviews of this blaster now and I think I’m going to buy it. The cost is a little high, but I’m the target audience for this and I don’t have easy access to an equivalent. Thanks for the honest review, I’m kinda gutted about the lack of a barrel attachment and the weird rails. Other than that I can see this being my favourite blaster.

Thanks for the review. Agree the price is the problem. Now the battery concept apply to other Nerf "half dart" reskin blaster can be potential win. Example the Desolator, Rapidstrike, Motobliz or the Demolisher.

You are NOT better off with sun glasses. You can see that those safety glasses have no frames - the lens is one solid piece. This means lenses will not pop out. These look like typical basic safety glasses you get from 3M and other commercial suppliers. I suspect that they are pretty sufficient for the task of protecting you from foam darts. The lack of branding is almost certainly because those ARE commercial safety glasses that they got supplied from a third party that makes them rather than manufacturing them themselves (which is the smart and correct way to go IMO). Sure, a 3M logo would be even better, but I wouldn't be worried about it.

You know. This is absolutely a step in the right direction. Nerf could have stuck to their gun blasters for years and years and fizzle out, but instead (after years of push back) they finally got something into the pro hobby space. HOWever, much like what Drac already covered, the only thing that I hope for, because they have full control of design and layout, is that Nerf makes shells that are suited to fit the equipment into to slim down the profile and keep the balance centered better. Yea I like the asymmetrical look of this one blaster because it's nostalgic, it also runs into the issue I always faced in wanting to mod my own blaster, the very same asymmetry I brought up.

IMO this is the Star Wars episode 7 for nerf. Going after the nostalgia/og aesthetic makes sense to start the pro line, they just gotta make sure to follow through with some good originality once Hasbro sees the profits from this. I'd be disappointed if they were all clones of hobby mods.

Next step should be building kits with drac approved instructions

Thanks for the review, I to am glad that Hasbro has embraced the community to launch this blaster. The mags may feel cheep but the mothership is undercutting Worker as they will be selling them at 2 for $10 for a 15 round magazine. The only down side I have found out about so far is they will NOT be producing a springer and NOT selling extra batteries. On the wish list side, I want a Rayven X and Rapidstrike X.

As someone who loves flywheel blasters and the Stryfe in particular but is pretty incompetent when it comes to soldering and shell cutting, and has personally ruined two Stryfes trying to upgrade them and failing, the Stryfe X is absolutely the product for me. I will gladly pay $120 to save any more blasters from succumbing to my modding incompetence XD

I did have a solid laugh on the pnnn podcast when it dawned on me that the mothership had successfully made their darts “the #1 darts” for their blaster since they do get the highest FPS compared to competing half darts.

Will DIY glue gun tipped ammo work with it?

I am new to the hobby, two months old, but this does not seem worth it to me. I mainly use springers (XShot Long, Aeon Pro, Dictator) but I did snag a Rival Perses for 70% off. I feel like it does the same thing as this for much cheaper. Definitely shoots at a lower fps, but it has a 200 round hopper, which will outlast this, and has an insane rate of fire. Still half the price with the hopper.

Would be sweet if kriss vector looking kit for this comes out.

I think the battery should be where the stock holder is, so you take your stock off, and then they battery, then it’s secure and hidden. Congrats to Aaron!

Idk. I think they put it out at this price to satiate those asking for a pro line, but it won't see en masse like it needs to for them to continue the line. The battery is blaster-specific and they aren't selling more. It is priced about 25-30% too high. Just feels like they are putting this one out to die on the vine.
