You've explained everything I was looking for in this Mule Trans. It's kind of sad that Kawasaki's website doesn't even explain this. It only lists that it goes from a 2 seater to a 4 seater. This UTV is exactly what I'm looking for. Thanks guys.

We have a mule 4010 SE (2018). It's a two seater but we have an aftermarket seat for the back. It is a work horse, it is not fast but it is an awesome and reliable machine. The dealer even sent me a PDF of the shop manual for me have for maintenance and repair. I can haul 30 bags of mulch in the back. I am really happy with it. We've dragged large trees with it and a chain.

Great vid, it’s was great reference for my 2012 KAF620 that we just retrieved after it went “missing” from my 40 acre retreat & “farm” 2 months after I bought it in 2012. LOL, it has 860 hrs on it and runs perfect after a battery & some re=wiring, complete fluid flush & fill service. But oh my, the cosmetics, from I assume sitting in the weather for many years + obvious abuse with what appears many tree crashing encounters. The only up side is whomever had it put a very nice set of larger wheels & tires on it. Now to get to the restore project of all the rusted hardware, seats etc. up to snuff, maybe paint over what camo is left, or re-wrap it. I’m just amazed at how well mechanically she is. Thanks so much for this vid, it is a great help. 👍 Subbed 👍

I have a 2011 Kawasaki 4010 trans. It's almost identical to this 2020 model you guys are reviewing. Only difference that I noticed, is the placement of the oil stick. Instead of being on the side, you have to raise the bed to check it. Not sure if the 2020 year model has it, but on the right rear axle there is a plug. If you unplug it, the mule will run around 12mph faster.

I commented a couple of years ago, one issue that arose was ours began to become hard to start and rough idle. It turned out to be the emission control where the ECV was vented into the engine air intake. I added a vent so the oil from the ecv is collected and not put back into the engine air intake fouling the sensors. Runs like new now.

I bought a used 3010 in 2008 I put a highlifter lift kit on it I put 14”wheels and 27” rocktan tires on it and it lived up to its name I never worried about it’s climbing ability it just did it. I just wished it had power steering wished it ran a little faster. The brakes worked fine even when I had it loaded with feed and tools. The 4010 is a newer model of the 3010 but it has power steering and fuel injection and that is a big plus.

I have a 2016 4010 SE, the only aggravating problem I have had is the oil dipstick turning to rust. I just ordered one from the dealer. Some attribute this to the fact that the engine is meant to be run at high speed instead of putting around, engine doesn’t get hot enough causing condensation in the engine and dipstick housing. I have seen actual water droplets on the dipstick. I use mine practically every day, I have added a 3500# winch, elec/hyd bed lift too. You mentioned the braking problem. These have drum brakes and you just about have to stand on the pedal when they are new but mine have improved over time.
@SixthDayRanch
@SixthDayRanch 4 года назад
That's good info on the dip stick I'll keep an eye on that. Appreciate it. Yes definitely not happy with the brakes. I may look at after market upgrades. How do you like that electric bed? Was it worth it?

Great Review. I picked up a new 2019 Trans 4x4 last year. I live in the Sierra Nevadas of California on 20 acres and I have been so surprised with the reliability and capability of this machine. You can pull a rough cut mower, haul hundreds of pounds of firewood with ease. With the locking rear end it will basically crawl up any steep hill loaded down with a trailer. For the cost I have yet to see any machine that compares. Besides the Kubota and Mule Pro these all seem to be built for play. Good luck out there! Ryan

For farm stuff it's great. Trails far from great .all depends what you would use it for but 14500 out the door here in Georgia is kinda high for what it is honestly. Lifted golf cart goes same type of trails so for me not really a good buy.. on our job site it's great slow and huals guys and tools around

Great video, thank you so much! Quick question for you, I saw how you highlighted that the air intake is up higher on the roof support tube, and I agree that's a great feature. Have you ever driven the Mule through water? I ask because I am looking for a UTV that can cross a small creek that is 12 - 18 inches of water deep. With the stock 7" of ground clearance, I believe water would come up over the floorboards whilst fjording a small creek like this, but I'm wondering if the engine would be affected/quit. I'd like to think that with the air intake up high, it would still run even when crossing water like that I'd described. TIA for any info you might be able to provide!
@SixthDayRanch
@SixthDayRanch 3 года назад
Thanks. I've never driven through water higher than the tops of the wheels so I'm honestly not sure. I know it can cross water just not sure how comfortable it would go through it without trying. I know the manual discusses driving through water briefly. Between that and the design I'd bet good money it would do fine.

It’s a really good vehicle we got this model two. Question for you: have you ever been driving around in 2 Wheel drive kind of fast, and all the sudden there’s a loud whack or pop noise from the front end? Any ideas what could cause that?

They limit these to 25 mph. That's a bit too slow in my experience with mine. 35 would've been just right. Other than the low ground clearance, speed, and tires with mediocre tread It's been great. Also nice not having to press the break to start. Too much nannying nowadays, thankfully Kawi ignored all that.

@@SixthDayRanch number 1 problem I've seen is keeping a good fuel filter on it. My customers usually have horse ranches and that loose arena dirt always seems to find it's way into the fuel line but a good filter catches it. As far as the diesel mules, nothing. Basically I only have to do regular maintenance on them. I've repaired minor things like mufflers rusting out and battery cables corroding. I just finished installing power steering on a diesel mule even though the website said it wouldn't fit, it did fit. Customer loves it.
