A lot of you have been asking why we decided to stop full-time travelling and we wanted to share our honest thoughts. We've been in Vancouver for a few months and have a new-found appreciation for travel now that we're back in Canada. Even though we've decided not to travel full-time right now, we're planning for one trip each month and will keep making travel videos wherever we go!

Been traveling myself for 7 years on and off and eventually I became exhausted too. As for everything, balance is the key I guess. Glad you are still on RU-vid, best of luck Fel and Wes!

7 years is impressive! But we couldn't agree more - balance is key. Thanks for the kind words!

Great share guys. I have been traveling since 2007. I noticed that when I slow travel I am happier. I don't really have a definition for slow travel, but if I spend 2 or more weeks in the same airbnb, I feel more settled and happy. If I spend a week or less in a place, and I do that for multiple places in a row, I start to feel less attachment and excitement about each place. It is like when you date multiple people at once, you never really feel connected to any of them. But if you slow down and study one place more carefully, you enjoy it more somehow. Slow traveling is more intimate somehow.

Very wise words guys!!!! This video is very helpful to us as we are hoping to start traveling full-time early next year. Looks like we are doing the roll reversal to you , as we both have professional jobs, a mortgage and travel monthly to make our videos. We are looking forward to the change but know it isn't going to be easy. Respect your opinion and hopefully see you on your travels one day - congrats to your new life!! Glad you have found something that works for you. Adam & Corinne🙂🙂

So happy to watch this video! Very excited for the videos coming up. And I totally get what you’re saying about full-time travel. A home base can feel so good. It’s nice to have a space that’s “home” and not having to pack up and move someplace new every month or two must be a relief. I’m so glad the business in Canada is going well! I’ve always so appreciated that your channel feels so genuine and honest-I never feel like you’re making videos in order to sell something. That’s so rare. Okay this comment just became a rambling mess so I apologize. But sending lots of love your way!

Haha but we love the rambling!! It feels good to travel with what we need instead of carrying everything we own around with us. So home base it is for now :) And thank you for the kind words! It's really great to hear 💕

I think this is the right decision for you guys. When I lived abroad and travelled I also stopped appreciating the sights and beauty of travelling as much. Being back in Canada, now it's all I pine for. You guys are so lucky and I hope you guys realize it! I can only look forward to travelling in the summer, and even then my husband can't take more than a few weeks off work. I guess it's time to rethink some things...All the best to you! Can't wait for your next trip :)

Thanks for this honest perspective on full time travel. I watch a lot of travel vlogs and often wonder how it feels to be living out of a suitcase. I've come to realize that the travel vlogger lifestyle wouldn't work for me because I do like to be settled in one place, but love the adventure of traveling to a new place. In a previous lifetime, I was married to a video producer--he worked all the time, weekends, nights and recorded video during the day. We didn't see much of each other. I really loved the Loire series and think you two are a great couple to follow. I look forward to your next travel series!!
@FeatherandtheWind
@FeatherandtheWind 5 лет назад
Thank you so much for your feedback, Gayle! There are pros and cons to all travel styles I suppose but with time we came to realize we're much happier having a place to call home. Sometimes I think in our previous lifetimes we let fear stop us from travelling and having met each other gave us each the nudge we needed. Glad you enjoyed the Loire series! If you have any questions for your cycling trip, please feel free to shoot us an email :) -Fel

Thanks for the update ... it's been great having you in the area and hoping to see you again soon. Make sure you price out round trip tickets, rather than one-way, since often they are less expensive. Then you just no-show the second ticket. Just my 2 cents 😉

Hey guys! Love to follow your steps and see how you are evolving. Great job and huge inspiration. We can totally relate to your experience!! We just came back home to Portugal from a 7 month travel to Malaysia, Bali and its surrounding islands. It's good to be home for a while. Any plans to visit Portugal? Or anywhere else in Europe? One last question: do you edit and post as you go along and while the experience is fresh? Happy travels guys! 😘✈

Nice to see you guys point of view on full time traveling. I always tell my bf that I wanna just travel full time and get paid for it. Lol. But yeah you’re right I think you become more appreciative when it’s not everyday. My bf and I have a travel channel, “The D&R Experience”. We’ve had it for a little over a year, but are still trying to figure out the whole vlogging together and agreeing on what to say, do, and how to edit. Lmao. I just found you guys. Just subscribed and gonna check out your other videos now.

I can totally understand that. Only thing that sucks is when u are able to travel for 10-15 days per year >.< Dumb regular jobs. And oh yes, I live in Belgrade, my wage is 500$ and pc I want is 2k$ here. Or new go pro that is 500euros. Annoying AF.

A rolling stone gathers no moss. In other words you won’t accumulate anything of value if you keep changing jobs or location etc. That includes community and networks etc. Being an active part of a community is what humans are wired to be. It’s great for us spectators to live vicariously through your experiences but it does not progress you very much.
@FeatherandtheWind
@FeatherandtheWind 5 лет назад
100% agree! And as much as we felt welcome in every country we've visited, we couldn't always stay long enough to connect with the locals or contribute to the community.
@SendMoreParamedics13
@SendMoreParamedics13 5 лет назад
What one considers "valuable", another may not. To some, a diamond is a precious stone. To me, it's a rock. I value experiences, which is why I love to be on the move. I have no interest in "settling down" at the moment. How can another person tell you that you have not "progressed" very much. They don't know your personal journey. To some people, staying in one spot.. buying a house and car, and staying at the same job in the same place for their whole life is "progression". To me, that sounds like a nightmare. I agree that moving around constantly isn't ideal. My girlfriend and I usually have a "home base" for at least 3/6/9 months at a time, and then travel around to places closer by. For us, it works. The reality is MOST people don't work solely online, or own their own business like Fel & Wes do. Most people work jobs that give them little-to almost no vacation. The majority of people I know back home in Canada are lucky to go on one real vacation once a year. Most are miserable. Why would anyone want to live that life, when they could see new places and experience new cultures several times a year instead? I would never go back to that daily grind. Bottom line is, everyone is entitled to live their life in whichever way makes them happy! I'm glad they have found a balance that works for them.
@FindingTheBliss
@FindingTheBliss 5 лет назад
@@SendMoreParamedics13 , we totally see where you are coming from and fully agree. Though it is important to contribute to a community, it is also true that communities per se have also evolved. If correctly used, social media is a community, right? Not to mention that there is a huge "traveling community" out there sharing the same ideas and contributing to amazing projects (conservation, humanitarian, humans rights) while traveling. Some people like to stay in one place, others like to travel. Both are good. Just depends on what we want for ourselves. Progress, evolution, development comes from within and from compassion and for that it does not matter where we are.
