Xmen 2- jean dies, but not really Xmen tls- xavier dies, but not really Thor- loki dies, but not really Captain america 1- bucky dies but not really Avengers- coulson dies, but not really Wolverine origins- deadpool dies but not really Captain america 2- fury dies, but not really Thor 2- loki dies (again) but not really The dark knight- gordon dies, but not really The dark knight rises- batman dies, but not really Amazing spiderman 2- gwen dies, but not rea- oh wait... Xmen dofp- everyone dies, but not really I am no longer suprised by any deaths in any superhero movie anymore.
***** Well, problem is the actor has to accept he only plays a minor role in a movie. And you have to pay a lot for this actor. This is where we meet the real world.
James Pace I liked the first prequel because they showed that they did not need Wolverine to star in every single one. I think that Hugh Jackman should star in a musical adaptation of X Men on Broadway. He owns that role and when he gets too old recasting is going to be a bitch.
James Pace yeah but xmen has tons of other xmen characters time for them to get the limelight wolverine can still play a role albeit a much smaller one.
wolverine is the main character of this live action x-men "series", its like at tv serial/drama that have a specific MC when its one story from the start to the end, that's how live action x-men is, it's still one ongoing series, and btw if we count that cameo of wolverine in first class, why we don't count the 2 cameos of professor X too, then wouldn't be that xavier "the other MC of the still ongpoing x-men series" also appeared seven f*cking times.
Yea but im not an Xman, the toughest thing i may find in my future its runing out of coffee and i doubt i need a professional six foot athlete for that. Just saying, they are on a quest to save frikin mankind, i would take with me as many OP mutants as i can find especially one so willing to help like quicksilver in this movie. My toughts at least, no need to make a huge argument about it :P
Keen Nickolas He's a teenager? His mom would probably have said no? He barely knows them? Going to DC with complete strangers and going to a different continent = not the same?
sylaine his MOM? seriously? he broke into the bloody pentagon. you think he asked her before that? "hey mom, we are going to break into the pentagon! is that fine with you? i'll be back at 10."
Keen Nickolas Well yeah. I know it sounds stupid. But - you can't take underage people out of the country without parental consent. And a passport. This might draw unwanted attention (something Charles could have totally ignored if he had his powers. But he didn't at the time) Also - he really doesn't have to tell his mom anything when going to DC, he's out of the house all the time - but probably not for several days. And he can't just run to Europe and back in a matter of minutes.
Actually I think the original Days of Future Past story in the comics inspired the Terminator time travelling (and almost every time travelling story afterwards, unless it's inspired by HG wells' story).
+clit_niblr036 But who was it, who inspired H.G. Wells back then, will actually eventually somebody get so inspired by this chain of inspirations, to actually travel back in time to tell H.G. Wells to write about time travel, and effectively invent time travel?
The only thing I'll ever acknowledge about Wolverine Origins is that they guy who played Gambit was great, and she be recast later in a better adaptation. And also Ryan did good as Wade Wilson, but the movie fucked up "Deadpool"
K Damon i know about that:) so glad. and sorry that was a typo, i was typing on my iphone. I meant he better be recast again in a better movie as gambit
The guy who played gambit was Taylor kitsch look him up he's not got the best roles but he's a really good actor he's in the new season of true detective which I would highly recommend
+Maxisamo1 I doubt it, as he's shown to be bald by the end of Apocalypse, and from the looks of things, Apocalypse will happen, at most, about 10 years after Days of Future Past, he'll either go bald at the same time, or maybe slightly earlier.
The Terminator 2 comparison isn't entirely fair since Days of Future Past is based off of a series of comics that actually predates Terminator 2. Just throwing that out there.
Personally preferred First Class and I wish Vaughn stayed on as director. I quite enjoyed Future Past until I was driving home and all my friends picked apart all the plot holes now I'm not a huge fan but it was entertaining.
say "My voice is fucking annoying and I don't know why everyone is so impressed with it. It just sounds like I'm talking and trying to hold in a fart at the same time"
Um....this person's FAMILY and FRIENDS has GOTTA be the ONLY ones behind the +1s this comment has accumulated. There's NO WAY that this is funny amongst the people who've come through here.
finding the striking similarities between completely different but now not so different movie plots , it's brilliant . they give us the same story and plot over and over again , and we just gobble it up and ask for more .
You should have mentioned the elephant in the room- the fact that Kitty sends Wolverine back to a time when Xavier, Magneto, and Mystique are no longer friends, instead of way back to the events of First Class when they were all working together. That way they wouldn't have to stop Mystique from killing anyone. But I guess that wouldn't make much of a movie, would it?
Woulda made things way easier. Especially the bar scene when they came up to him. Wouldn't had to go searching far and wide or break into a prison to get magneto either.
+roberto gurrola Bc Jennifer Lawrence is an A list actress and has a significant fanbase so the producers are hoping for more money by having her play a bigger part even though her character has been doing stupid shit since the end of First Class. *is totally not bitter about how they fucked up characters*
+roberto gurrola I've watched the movie and she doesn't really lead them inasmuch as she's returned to Xavier. Also, Days of Future Past changed the course of history with the Sentinels so technically, no one died.
You forgot to mention the part about Wolverine having his metal claws in the beginning of "Days of Future Past". Seriously... how does Future Wolverine have metal claws if they got chopped of by Silver Samurai in his previous movie, "The Wolverine"???
Magneto could have fixed it for him, since they are made of metal. comicbook.com/blog/2014/01/30/bryan-singer-explains-how-wolverine-gets-his-metal-claws-back-in-x-men-days-of-future-past/
How the fuck did Shadowcat develop this plot device power to send consciousness back in time? How exactly does introducing metal into plastic robots give Magneto total control over their programming? Why bother Introducing Blink, Sunspot, Thunderbird and co in the future just to have them die twice with fuck all character development? Why was Quicksilver's scene the only highlight of this shit fest?
becoz it's complicated and unnecessay to introduce the original character, Rachel Summers, who has never shown up in xmen before. and people like Ellen Page. so suck it there are new supporting characters being introduced in EVERY xmen movie. the more badass the merrier. or do u prefer to watch the same old mutants doing the same old tricks?
ray miao wait it's complicated and unnecessary to introduce characters like Sebatian Shaw, Azazel, Moira Mactaggert, Banshee, Angel and the other rejects from First class but too much to explain that they needed a plot device to drive the story along? They went into the future, could've used Forge and fucking Bishop for the time travel. Rachael Summers has nothing to do with this.
The issue I have with the ending of this movie, is that when Wolverine's mind jumps forward in time it overwrites the version of himself that previously existed in that timeline, which seemingly was a happier and more well-adjusted version...
You mean the one where he underwent a painful procedure, lost his memory, killed the love of his life by stabbing her, and the living in a post apocalyptic enslaving wasteland? How exactly was he happier and well adjusted? Lol
Stephon Yacub Uh, no... I actually wrote the exact opposite of that. The version that DIDN'T have to go through all that is now erased, and replaced with the miserable version.
Dick Grayson Sure, they "explain" it in the sense that they declare they know it's going to happen. Still doesn't make it less depressing. Perhaps I was unclear: I'm not complaining about the logic of it. I'm complaining that it's a downer note to end the movie on.
I'm a big Marvel fan and i'm not one of those people who takes delight in bashing movies, but i had much more high hopes for this movie. I felt it was kind of a letdown. Before anyone starts about it; yes, i have read the comic books, which is why i know exactly what i'm talking about. What i don't like is that they had to turn this movie into just ANOTHER Wolverine ego trip, even going as far as giving Shadowcat's important part as a time traveler to Wolverine. Because originally, it was Kitty Pryde who went back in time to warn the X-Men, not Wolverine. Also, Kitty Pryde can't send peoples minds back in time by holding their heads. Those scenes were completely made up. I do get Wolverine is a popular character, but these movies are called X-MEN, plural. The X-Men are a TEAM of mutants, not a band of which Wolverine is the lead singer. I'm not interested in watching any more movies about a cranky, beer-drinking biker who suffers from amnesia, with the rest of the team just hanging around in the background being support characters. Also, what is wrong about having the X-Men wear actual costumes for a change after 5 movies? It works for the Avengers. Or do mutants with super powers become more believable as long as they all wear the same black leather suits?
seriously? aside from the one who travels back in time Wolverine did almost nothing and get his ass kick most of his fight! this movie is about Xavier, Mystique and Magneto Kitty was not the one who travels back in time because let's face it Ellen Page is no Hugh Jackman and in the movies gen non comicbook fan can relate more to Wolverine than Kitty however they give Kitty a nod by making her the person who can make time traveling possible(secondary mutation as explain by the producers) they even give a nod to XMEN TAS by making Bishop the first person Kitty sends back in time. some comicbook costumes really would not look good on screen look at hawkeye in the avengers and besides x-men is a team much like the Fantastic Four they have to wear uniform it would make more sense they are not like the avengers who are individual heroes bond together to save the earth.
rpsyco It didn't really annoy me, but i think they made her a mash-up of Pixie and Angel Salvatore, who both have insect-like wings. They did the same thing with Whiplash/Crimson Dynamo for Iron Man 2 What i really didn't get about First Class is how Alex Summers/Havok is one of the first X-Men, while his older brother Scott (who actually IS one of the 5 original first X-Men) is still in high school. And Banshee, what was he doing there? I know movie audiences who don't know the comic books don't care about things like that, but people who know their X-Men consider this just dumb, because basically it is just F-ing up a well-known established origin story. And about the "original" X-Men; there once was 1 team of mutants before Scott, Jean, Hank, Bobby and Warren, but none of these were in First Class either.
Rick Sheridan Hank was in First Class...I liked it because it was a good movie. I've come to the terms to know that Fox will screw up every movie (Marvel does as well, but at least their movies have fun characters). If you didn't like First Class, then what's your opinion on the new "Fantastic Four"? You really don't need to explain the comics to me, because I have read them.
Well, technically, the actual 'Days of Future Past' issues were published in 1981 whereas Terminator 2: Judgement Day was released during 1991. So, actually, it was Terminator 2 who has ripped off from Days of Future Past and not the other way around. I'd hate to be that guy, but, there you go.
Wrong Actually. In reality, the only thing the movie and the comic share is the title, the sentinals and the time travel thing. But that's it, they share nothing else. So in reality DOFP is similar to Terminator 2, so in reality DOFP ripped of T2. I find it so funny just because there is a comic that shares the same name automatically means that T2 ripped it off. When in fact, the plots, stories, characters, and much more than that have to be similar. Seeing as how T2 was not in anyway shape or form similar, other than the time travel and the dystopian future thing. Then T2 was actually more original. Oh and you guys, it was Kitty Pryde, who possesses her younger self in 1980, not Rachel, and it wasn't Wolverine who gets send back in time either. All the more reason why Honest Trailer is spot on with the T2 plot on this one.
PLOT HOLE(S): 1. If Wolverine's mind has the ability to heal under "critical conditions" (Kitty Pryde mind-warping Wolverine's mind into the past), then how come his mind can't heal from the adamantium gunshot wounds that he suffered from in "X-Men: Wolverine Origins?" 2. Why not send Wolverine back in time to "a couple weeks" before the Paris Peace Accords (The place where Mystique is suppose to kill Bolivar Trask) instead of "a couple days" before the event so that they wouldn't be so pressed for time to find Mystique? 3. Why didn't they CONTINUE to use Quicksilver to help them with the mission after they freed Magneto from the Pentagon (They could have used Quicksilver's superspeed to stop Mystique from shooting President Nixon and Bolivar Trask) 4. How does Magneto's manipulation of the Sentinels allow for him to control the "computer systems" of the Sentinels and stop them from attacking him as a mutant? (His magnetism only controls metal NOT computer system functions) 5. Since Mystique's powers only copy the physical appearance of humans/mutants and NOT their powers, then how can the Future Sentinels copy the powers of other mutants if they function from her DNA? 6. What "real need" was there for them to free Magneto from The Pentagon if they were easily able to proceed with the mission after Magneto runs away from them after the Paris Peace Accords? In fact, why burden themselves with the mission of breaking out Magneto, in the first place, when they could have just skipped that and just taken Quicksilver with them to the Paris Peace Accords and just used his superspeed to prevent Mystique from beating up everyone in the room and attempting to shoot Bolivar Trask? All in all, I LOVE the film and give the film a 8.7/10.
1. please try to forget wolverine origins, that movie was just stupid 5. did they explicitly stated that they just injected mystique's dna on the sentinels? or did they had more than 30 years to experiment on her and her dna to expand its abilities? 6. I think it was because it was more likely that mystique would listen to magneto
1. ^^Rony said it best, Wolverine was the second worst thing behind Last Stand to hit this series and this movie was attempting to literally erase our memories of it. 2. That would be logic. This is a film that needs to be exciting and pressure filled. I mean, what was Wolverine going to do for a couple of weeks...knit a sweater? Plus if you follow time traveling logic, you want to minimize the damage to the present future by limiting the amount of changes you make to the past. Him just being there is changing everything, whether that be for the better or not which is why he had a very specific mission. 3. (See first 2 sentences of above). 4. If a submarine is set to launch a torpedo regardless of all audio or manual override commands to the contrary , but everyone on board dismantles the metal parts and pieces of the torpedo before launch, how can that program still run effectively even with a brain. Sentinals v. Magneto. 5. She wasn't the only ones Trask's progeny experimented on. They showed autopsies of a lot of different mutants, so its probably the combination of all of them over time, creating the master copy of the Sentinals. I believe they stated that she was merely the final key to unlocking their ability to shape shift. 6. Due to the injections, Charles was basically making himself powerless. In order for Charles to get his power back, he needed a reason to do it. Magneto was that reason. After they freed Magneto, Charles was still shooting up, but after Magneto disappeared on them, it was then up to Charles, meaning, he had to get his power back, to ultimately try and change history for the better. Add to that in order for future Charles and Magneto to work together, they couldn't just be enemies as they originally were in the past. They had to find a way to unite.
rony hernandez Don't get me wrong, I LOVED this movie! It's #3 on my list of favorite superhero movies -- 5) Spider-Man (2002), 4) Captain America: The Winter Soldier, 3) X-Men: Days of Future Past, 2) The Avengers, and 1) The Dark Knight -- I'm not really taking these "plot holes" to heart; these were just some things I noticed coming out of the movie...lol
INovationFILMs yeah I loved it too, I was just trying to clear up any confusion you might had in those points. You are right on the ones I didnt mention though.
no....No it isn't. Winter Soldier is less plot-holey than this. And Winter Soldier can't even be compared to Dark Knight (they're not comparable at all)
Sorry guys, but the T2 jokes just didn't work for me. You did know that the storyline this movie was based off of was published years before T2 was released, right? Well, I'm sure you do now, given the amount of comics fans like me who will point it out. Liked the rest of the video, though.
So are we just going to ignore the fact that, after the events of The Wolverine, his claws should not have the adamantium coating that they're shown to have in the future in DoFP?
the future of dofp doesn't exist anymore ... the new current Present does and we don't know what has happened now between the end of the past scenes in this movie and when Logan wakes up.
destrond69 Okay... He had adamantium-coated claws. They were chopped off by Silver Samurai. The bone claws grew back. When he took out his claws in the end-credit scene in The Wolverine, we only saw bone. He takes them out in Days of Future Past (in the future BEFORE they change it), and they're adamantium-coated again. I am not talking about after they change the future. Thomas Edwards That doesn't even make sense. Bonding adamantium to Wolverine's skeleton is a difficult process. It's not like you can just find the cut-off pieces and super-glue them back on and call it a day. Is the director implying that somewhere between The Wolverine and DoFP, Magneto built another, for lack of a better term, "Weapon X facility" and subjected Wolverine to the extremely painful bonding process again just so he could get his claws re-coated?
Spencer Whiteway If Fox is going to consider it canon, why shouldn't the viewers? And why shouldn't I care when blatant continuity errors like this pop up completely unexplained?
Say this: "In the criminal justice system, sexually based offenses are considered especially heinous. In New York City, the dedicated detectives who investigate these vicious felonies are members of an elite squad known as the Special Victims Unit. These are their stories."
In the comic book stiryline this was based on, it was actually HER, not Wolverine, who went back in time. As an allusion to that, they gave her those powers in the film. And, of course, to bring in the big bucks, the made gave her role to good ol' Logan. :P
My biggest complaint about this movie is after Wolverine's wakes up to find out he's now in present day and everything has been rewritten, he asks Professor X what happened. Where the hell were his memories in the past few decades that transpired since the 70's?! He's now a teacher, he's friends with Beast, X and the others again, but good ol' Wolvie doesn't even know how that happened. What happened to that part of him? That part of Wolverine's state of existence just got killed off it seems. Or unnecessary plot convenience.
I guess that's just how Kitty's power (which was originally Rachael Summer's power) works... I kinda think that maybe Xavier has been making mental back ups for Wolvie every couple of months cause he knew this was coming (at least that's my headcanon).
Simple really: he goes back from a point he has already lived thru and resets the timeline. The he 'wakes up' back in his present day having not lived thru the now altered timeline. He changed everything and then skipped over the "new" history, still remembering the one he lived thru, which am now gone !
serenityq26 If Wolverine's consciousness returned to where he came from, wouldn't he back to the future (no pun intended) where he came from even if it was rewritten, not a timeline closer to present day which is kind of convenient for a happy ending?
I think you got the Terminator parallel wrong. Xavier and Magneto say this in the movie: "We can stop the Sentinels from ever being born.... And end this war before it ever begins." So in fact the X-Men are Skynet and the Sentinels are John Connor.
Krowski Nall Yeah, but not all Russians don't like him just like how not all Americans don't like Obama. OLZU Od I know what he is doing in Ukraine. By the way, was it 90% of people in the Donetsk region voted to join Russia? Isn't that what the people want or should they be ignored?
Scott Ferrell they could have explained it more but i think it was because there would be no way to force him or get him to help them, the only reason he helped them at all was to see if he could break into the pentagon
+DarkWulf450 Really? I thought it was kind of obvious that all those deaths would be pointless since the timeline was going to be changed and everyone would come back anyway.
lol! 'quicksilver a mutant so powerful he could single handily solve every problem the xmen will ever havewhich is probably why they leave him home ' XD
I really don't understand the theory behind people running at super speed I meant considering hope fast he went that water would fill like tiny bullets, though that scene was great saw the movie again on Sunday.
2:45 Days Of Futre Past: top that Avengers Endgame: Hold my beer Edit: after some time I realised Endgame is just a good movie with awesome scenes but Days of Future Past is so much better I guess I was just really into the MCU hype train when I was younger which I kinda left now
@@പരുന്ത് and it still made more than 2 billion dollars without it and came out while many students had their finals Days Of The Futre Past didnt even scratch a billion and Avatar just got were it did because 3D was trending and people wanted to see its CGI
@@vullord666 what do u mean Endgame had so many scenes that topped that scene like Avengers Assemble, Cap getting Thors hammer, Tony snapping the Infinty Gauntlent, and so much more
Meet Wolverine for the seventh fucking time? Were you guys thinking of making an X-Man movie without the Wolverine, because, you know, that would suck.
Vlad Raineri Wolverine wasn't there at the founding of the original X-Men, so it would stand to reason he wasn't in a role, except for cameo, for that movie.
Yea, not sure why Quicksilver (I think his name is) played such a minor role when he's obviously the most powerful X-Men on their planet. Pretty sure he could have quickly "retrieved" the evil scientist (Peter Dinklage) and they could have had a nice conversation (while possibly beating the shit out of him,) and made some kind of deal.
because he has a bigger role in the next movie, and the producers didn't want to spoil that. also notice how it was never really revealed that magneto was his father. only hinted.
Because first class was a prequel. Of course Rebecca Romijn isn't going to play a younger version of herself. They casted different people for every other role, why wouldn't they do it for Mystique
As long as superhero films are profitable, they'll continue to make X-Men movies. Hopefully at the same quality as DOFP instead of Apocalypse or worse, Origins: Wolverine.
DOFP was a great ending to the original timeline since everybody was dead and or dying in the dystopian future. And going back in time to fix all that was worth it. till Logan where everybody is dead again 2 years later by Sinister aka Nathan Essex.
Please Say: "I am The Bone of My Sword, Steel is my body and fire is my blood, I have created over a thousand blades, Unknown to death, Nor known to life, Have withstood pain to create many weapons Yet those hands shall never hold anything So, as I pray... Unlimited Blade Works" Please!
Anybody else realize that the whole X-Men series never happened in that universe as a result of Days of Future Past? Like the good ones (X-Men, X2, First Class, half of The Wolverine) and the bad ones (Origins Wolverine, the Last Stand, the other half of The Wolverine) NEVER HAPPENED.
Origins began in 1845 and everything from that year to the Vietnam war scene still happened. Same thing with the atomic bomb scene in the Wolverine since it's set in 1945 while the X1 opening scene was copied for First Class.
Zer0Hour17 I would rather him speak coherently thank you very much. Also, I don't care how the term Weeaboo is spelled since you guys are almost all the same: Purists who are impossible to please unless the stuff they are watching is in a language they cannot understand.
Please say, "In a world of uncertainty... Where movie theaters are plagued by remakes and sequels... In a world where big-budget movies can still suck... Bruce Campbell is the Blockbuster Buster."
To be fair, Days of Future Past came out in x-men 141 in 1981 a whole 3 years before the Terminator series which begs the question.... Did James Cameron rip off x-men to create the Terminator story?
***** Cheap because they were so spot on? I consider them funny as is intended. There are almost no stories that don't somehow relate to stories created before them. Just enjoy the show.
***** Kudos for the educated response. The comparison of DoFP to T2 still seem perdy close. Granted one trip was internal vs external time travel and one character was an organic shelled robotic being while the other was an organic being with adamantium grafted skeletal structure but it was still the same premise of a being going back in time to rewrite history. You do not exactly have to think of someone else's body of work to "rip" it off but I imagine the intent to copy would need to be proven for it to matter.
Okay, Okay. It gets worse guys. In X-men 191 which was released in 1985 a character by the name of Nimrod follows Phoenix II back in time to kill her and the X-men. Oh and he has the ability to mimic and resemble any person/being. That sounds somewhat if not extremely similar to the plot of the next Terminator film T2!
Still dont know why Erik didnt figure Quicksilver to be his son. ..and his lil sister (at the end of the movie sitting in his lap while he was watching Erik speak on tv) is suppose to be his twin!!
+Epic Chibi no she isn't. Lorna lane is the doughter of mangeto and half sister of scarlet witch and quicksilver. I assume that they did not thing about it too much for the film. but still i do agree that most likely the girl with quicksilver is either wanda or just another half sister and wanda did not appear on the film but she exists
Yeah! it would be cooler to use a 12 y.o quicksilver to appear in that movie an do that awesome scene with the cops, and it would have more sense, (because in avengers 2, it appears a young quicksilver with his twin sister wanda, in the present time) so what happened, that kid doesnt age or what?
How does this movie erase the events of The Last Stand and Origins: Wolverine, but not the first 2 X-men movies? I understand that if The Last stand never happened The Wolverine never would have happened but it leaves me with many questions.
I think the first 2 X-men movies have been erased as well because the fact that Jean Grey is alive means that she never died saving the X-men nor does she ever become the Phoenix. Plus, the humans learn about the existence of mutants much earlier than what is shown in X1, William Stryker never kidnapped or brainwashed anyone into doing what he wants which led to Jean Grey's sacrifice, and Magneto wouldn't have created a mutation machine that turns humans into mutants.
So how does Wolverine have Adamantium grafted to his skeleton if he was never discovered by Striker? He was found by Mystique disguised to look like Striker.
Iron2Man911 The most popular belief is that Wolverine will most likely get his adamantium from Apocalypse which will certainly happen in X-Men: Apocalypse.
