Damn! Wrote these lyrics to the first and only woman 4:11 broke my heart in half, after 3+ years of pure bliss. We were just "kids" ... and when we were 21 years old, she chose a college boy with "a future, and he is going places." As I was leaving her dormitory in Pittsburgh, her last words were, "we will see one another again". I just smiled and held back the tears until I boarded, enroute "home" which was NY at that time. We never did see one another again, as her family moved to Reading, PA. Of course, thanks to the social media platforms available, we reconnected as "friends"; she did, indeed, marry that boy and they have 2 beautiful children. At the time of "our time," I was considered a standout young collegiate "closer" for the baseball team. She wrote, "every time a team came in to play the minor league team in Reading, I would look for you.". I did play for many years after college, although despite interest by the Baltimore Orioles and NY Yankee area scout in Albany, NY, my career never did become one that found me paid enough to "go somewhere". When I went to the Animal Shelter to see about adopting a dog. I saw a broken down Husky. He was in such a mess that he looked so raunchy. I was going to ignore him but this song came on the radio and I looked into his blue eyes it it was as if he was singing this song to me. So I adopted him and his bonded partner which was a German Shepherd. Now whenever we hear that song they both sing in their howling manner.
