Great tour! Tell your buddy I said, "bruh, just buy a knurler". Seriously, I haven't done much machining, but knurling is extremely satisfying. Like magic, it's smooth and then it's not, lol. Also his smoothing plane is SICK! I bought a handful of modest beginner planes to get my feet wet and my absolute favorite is a transitional (fore); need a smoother to pair it with.

Thank you! He prob would love using a knurler but it will prob go back to a time factor cus then he will have to thread them too lol Heartwood tools sels the HNT Gordon line and you don't have to pay shipping from Australia haha I love old wooden planes but I struggle when they are tap tap ones without an adjuster hahaha

Oh, a knurler is on my list of things to get because, well, fun, but I do have to balance what’s reasonable to do from an efficiency point of view.

What’s Wills favorite Gents Saw? Love the tour and love Will’s work. Thanks for sharing!

Thank you!! Imma guess the one he has from Charlie with Spring Green saws. Vintage maybe he has a Richardson lol I'll ping him so he can let us know :D

Thanks! Right now, the gent’s saw that was made by Charlie Earnest is the one I grab most often. Before that I used two small, 6-8” gent’s saws that are British but unmarked as to maker. I like those a lot just based on the ergonomics of the handles.

I used a lathe by hand only twice. Scared the hell out of me. Hot take: I will only use CNC now. Personally, I find it safer, easier, and more fun.

I am also afraid of the lathe haha I have one but only have it on the odd chance I HAVE to turn a handle or knob or to sand/polish round objects. But I avoid it every chance I can hahaha

I can appreciate that lathes aren’t for anyone but as with any machine, I work within its and my limits. I really enjoy the freedom of being able to shape the handles by hand. CNCs are great! Just not my cup of tea for turning.

I am boggled by the number of toolmakers out there now. Been in the business almost 5 decades and lot's of my tools are copied by others because they are just tools. I really missed the boat on making them fancy and selling them. Craftspeople would be a major step up from the general public idiots I have dealt with all these years.

What is your company? and I get you, people tend to like fancy esp these days. That shifted over the years, tools historically use to be tools for work. Now a lot of tools are tools for hobbies
