lol , we did this over 25 years ago , whilst building Schreckling /Kamps Homebuilts at the Cambridge University Engineering Labs. We ran them on a housing estate ( Bar HILL ), at night , so we could see flame fronts etc, after shutdown , we were "requested , to shut that F+++++g SH++ off, or else !! Oh , how times have changed !!lol Cheers Phil
Great video once again John. I can't wait to see it fly! As for the neighbours, my dad, when he was in his 80's, was testing a new engine and home designed smoke system on his driveway in St. Albert. He was surprised when the Fire department showed up. He was a bit embarrassed..... I don't think the neighbour that called that in liked him either....
Thanks Ted. Wait till you see this thing in person with the Light Setup! It's Bonkers! I fired the lights up last night for the first time. 😎😮. That's Hilarious!👆😂
Yes, I ran my KingTech 120 in my driveway installed in my Ziroli Turbinator. Not bad at idle and up to about 20%, but it got real loud above that. No one got mad, but one came over that didn't know small turbines existed.
Hey Jonathan Our neighbors also have to deal with rattling windows when Mandy and I load up the race trucks 410 HP/600HP with open headers HEHE Looking forward to the lights install.Thinking of installing some in the p-51
Didn't seem to have the high pitch whistle that I have heard from a few of the diamonds with this setup. I think that's a good thing for the annoying factor. Was working on the lights last night. 💥💥💥💥😎
HA!! That's barely a startup Jonathan!! Your neighbors shouldn't be upset as you are in your garage. It is quite common for me to test a new install up and down the road. Good for brake and alignment check as well!! LOL!! Most of my neighbors are more curious than upset. I think. :)
Nice airplane and amazing workmanship as always, Sir...... Every video of this built I wonder why an airplane of this size doesn't have the control service linkage inside the plane ..... Rudder and elevators I'm thinkin for sure and maybe the wing surfaces too....Like to hear your thoughts on that...... Gonna be a cool plane in the air... Well done, Sir...
Thanks chuck and thanks for watching! I think the biggest reason is the wing thickness. The elevator as an example has bump outs at the servo mount so you can actually fit a servo in there. So pretty thin surfaces. I’m sure it could be figured out but it’s generally easier if external and easier to get enough force multiplication with a long external surface horn.
near complete !!! 😉 , with full flaps be prepared to add power before touch down they are very effective, my friend don't use full flap travel on is diamond, he prefer 35/40° as we fly in a windy place .... i see this plane landing on a 240ft/80m paved strip without problem
Like the idea on what you have planed for the maiden flight, great build looking forward to seeing the light install, have a great xmas with your family and friends.
Another great series. I am curious. When do you consider your next build. Do you have a predetermined list or look around and go. That looks good. Or something totally differant
Hey Dave. Great Questions. Unless the plane is mine, most of my builds/repairs/projects come from others that are looking for me to build or fix their aircraft. So basically my projects are a generally a result of what someone either likes or is looking to build. As of right now i'm booked up with projects till about the end of March. All of which you guys will get to see.
Hey! I used the tube that came with the air speed sensor which is about a 1/8" OD stainless tube. The nice thing with the JR sensor is it's not a specific tube. So as long as the tube going to the electronic sensor portion fit's over the Pitot Tube it works. I'm happy that the sensor maxxes out at 600 KM/HR - 375 M/Hr!
Jonathan. Thanks for the build of this Jet! Does this Jet have Two engine Doors? If so it would be Cool to us them as Brakes! Jonathan what Brand is your Ear protection called? Hope you get some warm weather soon ! lol love to see how fast she is. Greg of Ohio
Thanks Greg! Just one engine door. Air brakes would look cool for sure!😎. Not sure of the brand but they are from Basspro. I use them for shooting as well. They have the volume and sound Cancell feature. Love them!
+ALPHA6IX few reasons but primary one was initially I wanted to go with 8911 all around but to save a few $$ I went with the mix. What’s another couple hundred dollars 🤔
Ah I didn’t know you had them mixed. Couple hundred bucks is still a couple hundred bucks. But at this level of craft, yea drop in the bucket. When you are spending this type of amount you should have no “wish I would haves”
