DUDE a 5am drop of the episode... What did we do to deserve this treat?!? Seriously I have so much windshield time ahead of me this morning with school starting back up after break....you are the absolute BEST Ryan! Thank you! This Momma is so grateful for you and all you do. 💚
@henofmayhem seriously. I’m so so so grateful to have the best of both worlds in terms of technology. Remember dial up internet? I used to dial in, load Netscape, put an address into the url bar to check my email, go bake a sheet of cookies for 40m and come back to check if the first page had loaded yet 🤣 it usually hasn’t. Would take 8 hours to view 5 emails. would hate to have been a kid with the phones and iPads everywhere. I probably would’ve be a lot smarter with all the answers at my fingertips but who knows.
The setup and execution of the question at like 46 minutes in was phenomenal. I do interviews for work occasionally and I straight up study Sickler's approach. He's a comedian and he's miles better at this than most journalists lol
I got to meet him and most of the rest of the Sand Lot crew at a Spurs game. They were in the bottom corridor just outside the locker room and I had to go flip a few switches. I am not allowed to communicate or initiate conversation down there but if someone speaks to me I am allowed to speak back. Patrick saw this and could tell I was dying to talk to them so he offered to take a pic with me and got the rest of the "Team" to be in it to. Dude is very nice a gracious and listened to me prattle on and geek out on them for about 10 minutes
I'm 37, used to kiss the screen when Benny was on the scene with my softball girls sleepovers, just watched again with my own kids the other day for the hundredth time. Sandlot will always be an amazing memory for mem. Great great episode.
at 40 years old, The Sandlot is still one of my favorite movies of all time. I have 4 kids of my own and I have made sure that each one of them has seen it because. I heard my 9 year old say "your killing me smalls!" a few weeks ago and i asked him if he knew where that was from, he said no, he saw it on a shirt at school. so that weekend we watched it for movie night the following Friday. I am a two dad for two of my four, nether one sees me as their dad, and that's perfectly fine. But they know that no matter what, I am here for them no matter what.
I grew up watching Patrick and even my children know who he is! He has always seemed like the most down to Earth guy and this episode didnt disappoint! Very awesome to catch up with him ❤
This was a very cool ep for me! I was an extra in The Sandlot, I was the kid falling off the picnic table when the beast is chasing Benny through the fair. So funny to hear he never got to meet James Earl Jones when I actually did. I've always been so grateful to the PA in charge of the kid extras for telling us kids who he really was, Darth Vader.
Love this episode, so unexpected. I bought Sandlot last Thanksgiving and showed it to my kids for the first time. They loved it and are watching it on repeat now, so nostalgic.
When he talks about being recognized over the other cast mates and he turns and says I think you want a picture of all of us hits home for me because I did this very thing to a Detroit Red Wings player I ran into at a bar for a benefit, I went to offer a drink and take a picture, he passed on the drink and I went to go ask the guy next to him if he wouldnt mind taking a picture of us, and it was Dino Ciccirelli another famous Red Wing who was like "What you don't want a picture with me?" and my jaw hit the floor apologizing to him but he loved it and was laughing, I'm sure it happens quite often to anyone famous. But I'll never forget that one lol
No fuckin way Ryan!!! This was the fastest I've ever got on a video. Thanks for this man. It means a lot as a fan and even more personally. Made me so happy seeing this. Much love Ryan!! And you too Patrick!!
After this episode I was randomly watching “Son in Law” and saw a familiar face. Great interview and thank you Patrick for sharing a bit about yourself and the industry! You always are “killin me smalls” ⚾️
Ryan, your ability to provide a container for these stories is fucking incredible man. Recently joined your patreon and I'm swimming in your content at the moment. What a beautiful, hilarious conversationalist. Thank you ❤
I didn't know the name, but the second I saw the thumbnail for the video I knew who it was. Never in a million years did I expect this mashup to happen. The SandLot is easily forever amongst the top 5 greatest baseball movies to ever be made. It's also one of the best movies to depict the ups and downs of being a kid and the challenges of life and growing up. Peer pressure, puberty, showing off and athleticism, playing against other teams, getting into trouble, planning schemes and coming up with dumb ideas to fix problems that could of easily been solved with a simple knock of the door. It also shows what time does to even the closest of friend groups, everyone going their separate ways, the only other film that comes close to capturing realism is Dazed and Confused.
If you read my comment I stated best show when I was kid. Never said best character on the show. You can apologize now like a man for being incorrect and saying he wasn't on it. Get your facts right.
Just starting this (screwed up my viewing order) and immediately his story about how his parents handled the divorce is awesome. I'm in my 40s and still feel like I have to tip toe around mentioning my dad around my mom. My parents weren't even married. Long lasting hell.
When he’s talking about being recognized I had to laugh for a second because at first glance of the thumbnail I thought Fortune Feimster was the guest. 😂
My twin brother and I were 13 when The Sandlot came out. We quoted it for years. I still call people 'Smalls' when I'm yelling at them. "Dammit Smalls"
Thank you Ryan! God dammit keep putting out these banger shows! Been a fan since you started the Honeydew and I can’t say I haven’t enjoyed anything you’ve done. I hope you read some of these comments. Love you brother!
Ryan - try taking the pedals off the bike and let her use her feet to propel and then lift them as she is going. Once they get used to that adding the pedals is so much easier. It worked great with both of my kids, one of which was higher strung and a perfectionist
I started listening to your pod Sunday night bc of Foleys ep, followed by Kippy’s. I listened to 4 more episodes the following night, and this is what I’m presented with next? Hachhhi Machi I got in at a good time, and I’ll be here for a while 💂🏼♂️
I watch the sandlot wit my kids every fourth of July man! One of the best baseball movies ever. Watch out for the "Beast"!!! Awesome episode shout out to Renna Aka the "ham"...is that your sister out there playing in right field. The GREAT BAMBINO
