The Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge, the mega sea crossing linking China's two special administrative regions and the city in Guangdong Province on the mainland, has seen a travel peak during the ongoing eight-day Mid-Autumn Festival and National Day holiday.
Over 12,000 vehicles used the bridge on October 1, setting a new daily record during the first three days of the holiday. The passenger flow at the Zhuhai Highway Port through the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge reached 214,000 passenger trips between September 29 and October 1, while motor vehicle traffic flow at the port reached 35,000 trips over the period.

Its not unique to just China/ HongKong. Unless you are a local, you are probably not aware that a somewhat similar but less cumbersome arrangement exist here in Malaysia. A citizen from West Malaysia has to go through immigration using either our passport or national ID, when travelling to the eastern part of the country. How long we can stay is determined by the state authorities there. This arrangement was a result of our unification betwen east and west parts.

The country with bridges collapsing is USA. 😆😆 After they saw this bridge did not collapse, they changed the tune to... well... the bridge is ok, but is losing money, no one drive on it.

That bridge is a money pit. Horribly over budget and nothing but headaches for the travelers dealing with fees, papers, passports, vehicle regulations. Nope. No thanks
