I love how Seele’s character development is all about self love and accepting yourself. I know people like to compare the two of them to sisters but really imho, they’re more like 2 souls bound together to create one person.

My Seele has been my main for a while and she FINALLY AWAKENED AND GOT THE SPOTLIGHT SHE ALWAYS DESERVE.

Doesn't matter how many times I watch this, I'll always cry every single time. Seele is so precious to me, they're both my babies.

Strongly recommend everyone to watch this after playing the story! It hits different with the buildup. The name of the song is Φ² (Phi 2), sharing the lyrics and my interpretations: Here I feel the touch brought by the real number solution. Ripples of two souls now have reached our double slits. Casting stripes of light and dark in the world as days and nights. You set me free under the sun. I fly your cradle dreams to the moon and back. A worm will turn into a butterfly, before one can answer "who am I". After the ice turns into water, the sea I hang upside down will be your sky. (Using the name Veliona below for easy understanding, and I don't know much about quantum mechanics by the way, my interpretations are just for reference). The title Φ² refers to a Greek letter that’s often used in the wave functions in quantum mechanics (and many other equations too). In many cases when dealing with similar notations, if you see a squared version of it, its magnitude refers to the product of a complex number Φ and its conjugate Φ*. Two levels of meanings I can think of: 1. The symbol Φ refers to both Seele and Veliona (their stigma does look like Φ, plus their relation with quantum stuffs), the squared part represents they are two individuals united as one entity “Seele”. 2. Φ and Φ * refer to Seele and Veliona individually. Φ multiplied by Φ* will always be a real number--the magnitude of Φ². Meaning Seele and her complement Veliona will form a real number together. This is related to the first line of the lyrics. • Here I feel the touch brought by the real number solution. Despite how adorable Veliona and Seele’s bond is, seriously speaking there is too much codependence. Their relationship is unequal (as mentioned by Seele herself this act). From the HoD arc, the moon arc where Bronya talked to Veliona, to now, EVERY SINGLE TIME Veliona mentions Seele’s growth, it’s ALWAYS with a melancholy tone, as if her own value merely depends on “being useful to Seele”. The HoD arc makes her start treating herself as “a part of Seele” instead of “a demon”, but she still treats herself as just “Seele’s shadow” (look at ch38 act 3). As Senti says, Veliona has extremely low self-esteem, and this is not something that can simply be fixed by Seele giving her more attention. Because without proper access and connection to the outside world that SEELE HAS, Veliona can never grow to become a whole mature individual as Seele already did. A healthy and ideal relationship between two individuals should go beyond “dependency”. In short, Veliona’s sense of self is just like the opposite of a real number, it’s a complex number with an imaginary part. Nothing feels real. That is until this journey gave her the touch of “having a separate body and still staying together with Seele”, let her experience what it feels to have real connection with other people like Seele does (especially with Senti she’s such a good friend for Veliona). This is a real solution to her lack of sense of true self, a solution to her insecurities and fear. • Ripples of two souls now have reached our double slits. Casting stripes of light and dark in the world as days and nights. This refers to the famous double-slit experiments, significant to the development of quantum mechanics. The double-slit experiments proved that light has “wave-particle duality”, meaning light can be BOTH waves AND particles at the same time, just like the duality of two Seeles. Seele and Veliona are completely two different individuals with different personalities, but they are both “Seele”. Waves and particles have completely different properties, yet fascinatingly light exhibits both, and light won’t be light without either property. In the earliest Young’s double-slit experiment, it was found that given a beam of light illuminating through a plate pierced by two parallel slits, on a screen behind the plate, stripes of equally spaced light and dark fringes will appear. If light is only particles, it should go straight through the two slits and form two thin light stripes on the screen. The amazing result showed wave’s interference nature. I interpret these two lines this way: The two souls (or light waves) here are Seele and Veliona. Being waves originating from the same light beam (since both are Seele), they passed through the double slits, which symbolizes them taking separate bodies and getting into the two bubble worlds. Casting stripes of light and dark represents them interfering with and helping the Salt city and the Iron country. It also symbolizes how they (also the two bubble worlds) complement each other with their light/darkness, cruelty/gentleness, and days/nights. It’s worth mentioning that waves’ interference nature can also be shown in a single-slit diffraction experiment. However, when there’s only one slit, the stripes are basically dominated by light, unlike the equally spaced light and dark fringes created by double slits. This also matches the Seeles’ situation when they share one body: Seele is mostly the one in control, thus there’s an undeniable imbalance between the presences of the two souls. • You set me free under the sun. I fly your cradle dreams to the moon and back. I think these lines express Veliona’s appreciation for Seele’s wish to give Veliona freedom- to let Veliona have a body like she does to experience all the beauty in the world. Besides this wish, Seele has also said before “I want my friends to also be your friends”, “I just want us to be together forever”, “We are equal beings”. Veliona is promising that she will support Seele’s dreams. • A worm will turn into a butterfly, before one can answer "who am I". “Who am I” is a question Veliona always has doubts in. A butterfly and a caterpillar are the same being, but they are almost like two entirely different creatures. A caterpillar will never truly know who they are or what they are capable of until the day when they matures into a butterfly. Similarly, nobody can truly understand themself until they make huge decisions unimaginable to themself in their life. Intentionally asking yourself “who am I” will never get you an answer. Only by making your own choices and striving for your own goals can you mature and then realize what kind of person you are afterwards at the end. Seele has already matured (look at how confident she is that she knows Veliona will find her when the two worlds fused). In this arc, I believe Veliona has finally become a butterfly and realized her own beauty and value. • After the ice turns into water, the sea I hang upside down will be your sky. It is not straightforward if it was Seele or Veliona who controlled the water in this cutscene, but I believe it is Veliona using her sage’s power trying to look for Seele. This is such a powerful line and drop…Veliona here is basically like: you set me free, I’ll find you and set you free too, I will crush all our obstacles and recreate the real happy ending for you. In the original story of Little Mermaid, the mermaid dissolved into foam in the sea, and then became a spirit in the sky. But here, she literally turns the "sea" into the sky where Seele can soar. Along with the cutscene, this song is so beautiful. It’s like Veliona trying to tell Seele that she’s finally grown into a butterfly too, that she appreciates all the kindness given to her, that she will support Seele as before, and turn their story into the best version of the fairy tale she likes for her. They have separate bodies now, but they are finally equal to each other and closer than ever.

I love how they made it look like the MC of this arc was Seele when the main focus was actually on "Seele" Seele didn't have that much development in this arc other than having a new form. She was already strong even in the beginning of this arc. It was noticeable just how much she grew after the finality/moon arc. "Seele" on the other had so much development. She learned how to talk normally with other people, she now trusts Seele fully, not doubting her capabilities and not worrying that she might put herself in danger, and finally, she learned how to move alone and be separated with Seele.

Dark Seele has graduated to a normal, undistorted voice.

seele she is no longer a girl with a weak personality but now she can confidently fight to protect the people she treasures, I am really looking forward to what the day that kiana returned to compliment her maturity.

Idc what anyone says,seele and veliona are the best sisters of the honkai universe.

I am fucking dead after finishing chapter 39 Act 1. It was so beautiful and heartbreaking. This scene and everything that led to it ripped me apart... and I loved every second of it. God I love this two so much. Can't wait for Act 2!!!

With this chapter I realized just how much "Seele" depends on Seele despite acting like her reluctant protector and partner

Why oh why are the greatest songs out there are always the shortest?

It took me (a native German Speaker) 5 years to realise that Seeles Full Name, "Seele Völlerei" translates to "Soul Gluttony" :D This just shows once more how shes litteraly the Concepts of "Life and Death going Hand in Hand" Incarnate, as Soul is a word for Life and Gluttony one of the 7 Deadly Sins

_Light cannot live without the darkness. And darkness cannot trive without the light. Two forces must come together to give life. Without them..._ *flower dies* _life would never exist._ This story about Seele has proven interesting seeing how much she has grown to overcome her obstacles and to finally embrace her calling. And that's an S rank Valkyrie--a Herrscher. Edit: The quote I think fits them well Veliona and Seele.

This...I watched the cutscene at last in-game few minutes ago and I did tear up in one shot - Like I felt this is like my past and I to co-exist, no need to forget but instead to understand, embrace and forgive it. This is giving me more idea for original series that inspired by my imagination and my struggle. In this moment, I am really proud and glad that I decide to play the game - Like this game somehow is teaching me life lessons without me knowing until the perfect timing.
