"Canon" Paths of characters are almost always different than their "gameplay" Paths. Canon Paths characters follow are for the story and character writing, while gameplay Paths of characters only serve one purpose: To tell you what role they serve in a party. Let me tell you about that. Characters of "The Hunt" Path specialize in DPS against one target. Erudition specializes in area of effect damaging. Destruction is characters with general DPS, Abundance are healers, Harmony are your party buffers, and Nihility are focused on debilitating enemies with debuffs or status ailments. The Simulated Universe's Blessings follow that definition of "Paths" related to gameplay, to an extent.

@@squigga3931 Wendy is the exception, she was killed so early in the story, that she has no chance of being a playable character unless the devs use the concept of "Bubble Universes" to have a different Wendy become playable, like they did with non-Kiana Sirin. As Sirin from main story died before the events of the game, as shown in the manga "Second Eruption", that serves as a prequel to Honkai Impact 3rd for Sirin's story before she was killed. Also, to a lesser extent, K-423's origin story as well

That's how these gatcha games work, if you pulled the character, but they die in the story, MiHoYo isn't going to take them away from you. Himeko is a clear example of that. Also, Tingyun's fate isn't entirely clear. There's a few possibilities for her fate. 1. Tingyun is dead, and Phantilia had possessed her body, and cracked the neck and shows she has discarded that body, now that it's of no use to her. 2. The Tingyun we see here is a mere fake that after being done with this false body, Phantilia kills her, decasting the illusion. as the body is not present anywhere there after that scene. And Tingyun's still alive. Or 3. The real Tingyun is stuck somewhere or was killed prior to this scene, as to not blow Phantilia's disguise. The ghost hunting event does give some clarity to Tingyun's fate related to Phantilia, but I'm not smart enough to break it down to find a conclusive answer

Agreed. Star Rail I enjoy the story, but with Genshin, I was so bored with the boring storytelling I quit the game entirely during the Sumeru arc, because the story was far too boring that I could not bring myself to continue any further. This was before Fountaine was added to Genshin, but I still find the game too boring to return to it. To write an entertaining story, it's usually the right choice to include tragedy or strife to keep it entertaining for those experiencing the story. Because we as humans are "attracted" to negativity. Be it sadism, or emotional pain we feel from a story with the negative aspect happening

He's long since been released, but you started playing this game far too late to get Jing Yuan. You'll have to wait till the devs rerun his banner, since MiHoYo with each of their games, just because a character's gatcha is gone, as long as it's not a crossover character (like the Evangelion crossover character in HI3rd never returning to the game) there's a high chance they'll rerun a past banner. So far in Star Rail, Seele, Silverwolf, and Blade got their banners rerun. It's only a matter of how long it takes for the rest of the early limited time characters to have their gatchas runrunned
