Whoever did the script for this game, please give them a raise, its alot more entertaining now given all the choices we had and some funny references 🤣
I was sold on HSR when it gave me the option to rummage through trash, crawl into a closet like the little gremlin my MC is and yell at the hotel staff to die 😌
The "Patience" advice is by far the best advice to give new players. Ofc everything is shiny and new right now but rushing through the game will just make you burn out faster from the game because it will feel more like a grind - it's best to enjoy the game as much as possible, especially since H:SR has so many excellent quality-of-life changes in comparison to Genshin
Is the same as genshin. Some people will play like they are in some frenzy, and others will just keep their pace, enjoying the game. The first ones will soon say that the game has no content, and the others will never understand.
@ThamRew I understand. I had that with Botw, as the game launched just before a week long holiday in my country. I passed that week doing nothing besides playing, eating, and sleeping. In the end of the week, I made 80% of the game, leaving only some extra stuff to collect. If I were those guys, I would be complaining about how botw doesn't have content on week after. Can you imagine that?
IWTL. True MVP of Genshin and now Star Rail. Hitting AR 60 wouldn’t have been possible without this godlike teacher. His content will forever be worshiped.
Also, one big piece of advice for new players who might come from genshin, this is a heavily story based game with an actually good story. So please don't go skipping all the text and dialogue, that'll remove a huge portion of the game which will make it feel rather unsatisfying. Edit: I noticed a decent number of replies saying "the story isn't better than Genshin at all". But I'm just curious, what part of Genshin are you comparing it to, cause you need to remember that this is the VERY START of Star rail. Are you properly comparing the start of the game with the start of Genshin or are you comparing it to modern Genshin. Cause if you're saying "the start of star rail is just as good as current Genshin" then that should already show that the story is actually a lot better since it achieved the same results in much less time. Hoyo game's stories always get much better and more interesting over time, so start of star rail being comparable to Genshin after over two years means that star rail will probably be much better than current Genshin is 2 years.
It's pretty good so far. Everyone has a lot of flare and snappiness to them in a mature way. Quite the change from Genshin where everyone feels like a stumbling idiot.
@@Rayquaza894 lol you might as well not play the game, the combat is barebones even for a turn based RPG. It's a 99% story driven game, if you skip the story it's like going to a steak house, order a steak, throw away the steak and eat whatever greens is left on the plate
@@meia1855 You're right, but think about genshin, some players may want Diluc or Mona, and even if they spend 1000 wishes they are not guaranteed to get them. 300 is still a lot, but you'll get the character you want. With other 5 stars in between.
@@JovazPulse As much as i'm loving star rail, i don't like this very much, i want this on genshin, including the possibility to choose your desired 5 star from the permanent banner after 300 pulls T_T
@@kosmos138 fr.they just listened to player feedback on genshin and fucked off to star rail.looking at videos on youtube im starting to think genshin is just a money cow so they can work on something else.such a shame, you cant beat open world
I'm actually planning on not increasing my trailblazer level unless it's required by the story. In Genshin, I learned that I'm more of a casual player who likes playing multiple characters, and I regret raising my adventure (world) level so much. I'm going to keep my level as low as possible so it's easy to raise new characters to a playable level
On the contrary. New areas (like the overworld and underground of Belobog) practically require you to raise equilibrium since not doing so would make farming take a g e s
@@tomikun8057 good to know. I'll have to play around and take it slow I think. In Genshin, I'm at the point where I need to artifact grind (which I absolutely hate doing and it takes forever, so I don't do it). So far it seems it will be easier to farm in Star Rail, so I might end up raising my equilibrium more than I was initially planning. But yeah, for now I'll focus on the story, and then think about if raising the equilibrium more is worth it.
I never played Genshin, so can't really compare the two. I can say that when it comes to farming things like level up materials for characters and light cones, increasing your trailblaze and your equilibrium open up new difficulty levels that let you get more reward for the same amount of stamina spent. I haven't seen any mechanics yet that reward players for rushing through content, but haven't really seen any that reward you for not progressing either. I just take things at my own pace, using stamina to farm, then doing some missions.
I agree that patience is key. There is a lot of content available between story missions, side quests, and the ones that require stamina. I'm yet to see any mechanics that would force a player to rush (such as trying to get to a certain level to join a guild or to compete against other players). That may be an endgame thing, but for now, the game feels a lot like a turn based RPG with a gatcha to unlock characters instead of unlocking them through story progression. That said, I seem to have either encountered a bug or somehow missed the mission that unlocks Simulated Universe. Its supposed to unlock with a mission around trailblaze 7 timeframe and I'm at trailblaze 28 and the game still claims I haven't unlocked it. I find Asta is a very useful character to have built up for early game. There are a lot of enemies that break with fire attacks, and she's one of the F2P characters that is given to you with story progression. Additionally, her skill puts a stacking buff on the team. That aspect gets much better if you're able to unlock her Eidonons, but she's still very good for breaking a lot of early game enemies. Can't speak for later in the game since I haven't gotten there yet.
The differences for the gacha is just that the character is still 50-50 but not the weapon The Light cone has a pity of 80 MAX and the rate of the featured weapon is 75-25, so basically you have a higher chance to get the Light cone of the featured banner. for the standart it's the same as the limited, just at the 300 draw you can chose 1 5 star character
while I really like the 75/25 change. In honkai you quite literally are pulling for 'dmg %' now. At least in genshin you can see the signature weapon during gameplay. I'm much less inclined to pull for light cones because they're just +20% dmg (you know what I mean) on my character. I'd rather pull for an extra character then. In Genshin my favorite characters of all time get their signature weapon (granted it looks sick or beautiful), they feel so complete after that. In honkai, eh, they're still using their gorgeous weapons and not a huge purple fish claymore.
@@nick03ix better with what? I started in 2.0 and imo it is miles better than Genshin in every aspect. Open world is not really a plus in Genshin but a minus imo since I don't care to mindlessly chest hunt a pretty much empty and boring world. What do I even do in that world besides "sight seeing" and chest hunting? At least HSR doesn't waste our time. The little amount of puzzles is also good since it doesn't incentivize players to need grind to get all the rewards, and people who do it, do it purely just for fun and because they like the game. In Genshin(which I played from 1.0 until 3.0) I just didn't care at all to explore. I tried, but I didn't care. Also the fact that 5* characters are the same "value" in the team feels so much better. In Genshin you basically just pull a 5* dps, play for some time and then pull for another 5* dps, and the endless cycle. Rarely if ever you pull for a support, because the 4* are better or "good enough". But in HSR characters inherently get hit by the game mechanics so you can justify having a good 5* sustainer, who btw not only "heals" like but actually also does some buffs at the same time usually(not at the scale of a separate buffer, but). In Genshin all is nullified by the existence of Bennett in most cases. Anyway if I were to choose between two games, I would choose HSR. I didn't really like turn based combat but with time I thought it's ok, it has its merits.
"and barraged by a collection of husbandos and waifus" -shows only himeko A fellow man of culture I see. Himeko was definitely my favorite from impact 3.
Not really. Genshin combat system is more complicated since theres icd, timing your element, double swirl, getting the perfect stat ratio on crit ratio and elemental mastery, characters that only scale with hp, and so on. Genshin combat is still better but i would say everything apart from combat is already much better than genshin reusing npcs and reusing the same animatiom during dialogue with bad lipsync.
Very valuable advice, I wish I had seen it when i started. Unlike most of other streamers, you do not give you text at breakneck speed which make it lot nicer to hear. Thank you.
glad to see you making videos for h:sr. I quit genshin over a year ago and just picked this game up yesterday and your vids were always so reliable in the past, and it's cool to put a face to the voice I remember. Thx for sharing
Thank you! I got bronya and want seele. I am currently F2P because I already spend a decent amount on genshin. But after a month or 2 I might start spending Edit: I forgot to edit yesterday but I got seele
Yeah, its like they listened to player feedback and fucked off to star rail.and because of how genshin still makes crap ton of money there wont be changes
As a total newbie with some economic knowledge I agree that you need patience for games like this. You WILL get to the goal but enjoy the trip.. with that said this is my first time in this universe and I still don't understand how all the paths, will affect the player. Obviously I would want the healer (I have nattie) but instead of tank, dps, support etc. But there are SO MANY DIFFERENT THINGS like the editors, the traits and how do they work together. I used to play D&d in its youth (yes I am an old guy....deal with it) but so many more terms have come into the gaming world. For us EXTREMELY NEWBIES could you perhaps teach about how a character is build. Judt so we can understsnd the concepts. I liked your video content and I'll keep playing but I want to learn more. Thank u for a great video.
You mentioned on stream a couple of days ago to poke you if anyone missed Seele for their first 5*. I got Clara really early and then got her again with my guaranteed.
There's another way to get in game currency. If you come across the scared white fluffy pig looking thing and engage it in battle, kill it right away. You get 60 gems for killing it and winning the battle. If it escapes you don't get the 60 gems. Happened to me once which is how I figured that out. Won't miss one again lol.
I followed your content a lot then stopped playing Genshin one fine day! I’m so happy to see your face and the person behind iwtl. - your content is top tier and I appreciate you. I won’t play honkai, but this genre is damn fun!
Thanks bro! I am your newly earned subscriber lol those were precised and helpful tips for new players and old players who wants to progress long term.
8:47 I think in Honkai star rail there is also a 50/50 system for the 4 stars, that is, if you lose the 50/50, the next 4 star will be one of the three featured 4 star in the banner garantee, I am not sure if it is applied in the weapon banner (cons)
@@rosythxt9399 Imagine the following situation, you have not pulled in the banners, so this will happen: - In Limited Character Banner: for each pull you will have a chance to get a 5 star, if you have pulled 89 times and do not get the any 5 star, in the next pull it will be a 5 star for sure (90 pulls PITY), BUT since it is the first time you pull, in this case you will have 50% of getting the limited character or no (and you get the standard banner character); if you get the limited character, the next time you get a 5 star it will be again 50% chance; however if you "lose" (do not get the limited character) to it, in the next 5 star, it will garantee you the limited character (within 90 pulls counting after the 5 star you get) -In Limited light con (LC) banner: is similar to the character banner, BUT in this case you have a 75% chance of getting the limited LC within 80 pulls. - For 4 stars: same in both banners, within 10 pulls you will be garanteed one 4 star, it is also applied the 50% chance, and if you "lose" to it, in the next 10 pulls, you will be garanteed one of the three 4 star featured in the banner. Summarizing: if you have a really really BAD LUCK, you will need a total of 180 pulls to get the 5star limited character and a total of 160 pulls to get the limited LC. Sorry my english and hope you find this useful
What about rerolling? is there an efficient way to do so? at least thats one of the first questions that pops up in my head when i think about gacha games.
Just did some reading and the tl:dr would be: rerolling is not worth it. Since Hoyoverse removed the guest account feature you would need a new email for every single try and one try takes about 45 minutes. Especially if you want to use the same account as for genshin impact for example you can't reroll anyway so don't even bother.
Not worth it in this one, to unlock the ability to pull and to get enough points to make a single 10 pull your looking at over a hour as a F2P and no real way to speed that up.
Just wait until you reach 300 pulls in standard banner, so you can choose 5 stars character you want instead of rerolling with unpredictable results.. All the chars are good tho
The first interaction shows Kafka and Wolf talk about immortals dying and Wolf said “don’t final bosses in video games wait for the protagonist to kill them” like bro I’m just done with the first chapter of Honkai There’s also the part where MC wakes up and Kafka pulls a “you can end this journey the way you want” which is something HI3 Himeko did Also the baseball bat, no explanation needed The game play reminds me of persona 5 because of the first battle where the screen shatters I really like that they have mix of Genshin and Honkai elements, imaginary and quantum from Honkai whole there’s anemo/wind from genshin, RIP hydro though The game starts off pretty tragic but also calm The reason is because the music is like Persona 5 but instead of the serious music when they realized they are now dubbed criminals they instead put in the music when the gang were chilling in a festival, it feels like that Another persona 5 reference Herta saying and the metaverse
I did not know you were so handsome! I learned a lot here, your videos are always so informative and easy to understand. I appreciate your hard work! I may give this a try but my first love is Genshin...tragically. 😛
that synthesize thingy,. seen it from Archeland!! this game is very similar to that game it has elements but no reactions,. has weakness against other elements it has the toughness too then after it breaks it stuns the enemy
I always watch your videos here on youtube and this is the first time that i've seen your face. Thanks you for all the information, builds and tips for Genshin.
@@noveliayuki its in the user id, it starts eith 600 for america, the rest is your player number, im 800k, and 600k in genshin, i took too long to login
here’s a tip for anyone new, when you start the game and you begin to summon on the -20% banner if you get a 5 star before 50 pulls stop summoning. the point of the banner is to get the guaranteed 5 star at 50 pulls so if you get it early don’t waste your recourses.
@@YuriMeoDeos no because the banner disappears after 50 pulls. and since it’s not a premium banner your pity doesn’t carry over to other premium banners. of course luck is always a factor and if you are incredibly lucky you could pull 2 five stars it is incredibly unlikely as once you pull a 5star your pity would reset back to 0 meaning u won’t hit that 50 mark for a guaranteed 5 star. tl:dr the banner is guaranteed 1 5star IN 50 pulls, not 1 5star AT 50 pulls meaning once you pull a 5star you’ve already received your freebie and anything after that is wasting resources.
Thanks for the tips. I didn't think I would like a turn based game and after giving it an honest try I really don't. I hope you won't abandon your Genshin content creation because you are a rockstar.
Me coming from fgo hearing that you can get enough to pull for a character in only a month sounds insane the next character I am rolling for in fgo is next summer 😭
im so glad i pulled Seele first try as a F2P, my next character I'll pull for will probably be Coffee, whenever she gets a banner, might be a while tho
I've spent 40 pulls. All of them were Arlan... 10 pulls on standard banner and got another Arlan. I got extremely salty especially after my group of mates all got seele and bailu in a single 10 pull
She is basically the Bennet of Honkai, she is 100% future proof and the most powerfull unit currently. Having her is basically the biggest boost to a amount currently available.
Hi, first of all, thanks for the tips, it will be very, VERY helpful. However, there's a little mistake on the pity system note at 8:45 In the "Genshin Impact Standard Banner Mechanics" session, at 3rd line you said "If previous 5 star was a 5 star weapon, next 5 star *will be* a character", and THIS IS NOT TRUE. Doesn't exist this type of correlation on the Standard Banner. In fact, this has happened to me in particular: I got a Skyward Blade in a single pull on the Standard banner, and *later* I got Lost Prayer to the Sacred Winds, and *no one 5 star character between* these weapons. I read both Genshin and HSR Standard banner rules and don't find this correlation you mentioned. I don't know if it was a "common sense" like the "soft pity/hard pity" concept, but definitely didn't happened to me XD Anyway, thanks for the video, I'll be looking for more guides about Hoyo games from your channel in the future.
You're right! It's actually that if you get 2 5 star weapons the next 5 star will be a character and vice versa from what I've heard. I've also gotten 2 5 star weapons lately
My first time watching you! Face reveal!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I will def follow you for Star Rail. I've been your follower since Genshin Impact 1.0, and your advices helped my to have a good mid/late game.
Am I the only one who finds it funny that most player don’t know who Bronya or Seele or Himeko originally are, or where they come from, Probably due to most player base coming from genshin and not Honkai🤔
Hello, I loved this short beginner's review. I haven't played this game or even Genshin Impact but I'm thinking about it and your review gave me a good impression of the game. Thank you
HSR is basically a refined (not necessarily mean better) version of genshin. If you play genshin, it's so easy to get into this game (beside the whole completely different combat style of course). Even the button function, shortcut etc it's similar to genshin.
I just went in game, waiting download to finish. Let's hope I like it,although im not sure only because it's turn based, but who knows maybe I will have new game to play 😂
I'm editing my beginner's guide for this game as the official version just launched today ans I came across this video. Welp, I guess I was too late to upload it, and now if I do upload my beginner's guide no one will prob watch it.
Hi @IWinToLose Gaming, maybe off topic, but I have a question about the posters in your room. Where can I purchase these? They are awesome. Btw. Great video, love your content.
In your notes about genshin standard banner it is probably not true that you are guaranteed a 5 star character after a 5 star weapon. I might have misunderstood the reference though.
