You find hidden gems by catching the bus. I realized recently how much I missed by car. I had catch the bus to downtown when I worked. The parking is so expensive.

I am a lifelong resident of Hawaii and have not been to Waikiki for years. You made me see a new side of Waikiki. I will definitely visit some of the restaurants in Waikiki you ate at while here that I never even heard of before. Mahalo for making a local resident aware of what is happening in Waikiki. I get home from work 3 hours before my husband and it's so hard to wait that long to watch your vlogs.... so usually I end up watching them twice, once when I get home and then again when hubby gets home. We love vicariously traveling with you. P.S. I hate carrying a purse too. lol

My dad used to work at Liliha bakery in the 70s and made the sugar donuts. He used to bring home the leftovers for me. Thus started my addiction to donuts 😜

Dukes lane is great but I don’t know if you visited Waikiki years ago when the old International Marketplace was still around but that was the best place for souvenirs! Their restaurants and bars were amazing also! So sad their gone now!

I loved this video... I am watching from Sydney Australia 🇦🇺, in lockdown for 6 weeks now.. I loved this as I was there for my 50th in February last year. It was nice seeing Duke, alomoana, international market place. I am grateful I got to experience this too before all this happened. Theres a liliha bakery in Macy's at Ala Moana. Also next time try the tan tan ramen (a little spicy but oh so good) at Goma Tei. There are multiple locations. I think u both will love it! Good to see u back in Hawaii!

Was last in Hawaii 3 years ago. Always do Dukes. Haven’t done breakfast only dinner but that looked good and fairly reasonable I think. Enjoying these videos. Did you see the original L&L Drive Inn on Liliha St when you got off the busline to walk to Liliha Bakery (it was on your right side of Liliha St. just before the North Kuakini St. intersection) ? Before they invented their runaway famous coco puffs , their Chantilly cakes *and* pancake mix were FAMOUS. Local people HAD to get their cakes from Liliha Bakery (or Dee-Lite Bakery), and many organizations used Liliha Bakery to sell their fund-raiser pancake mix --- I first went to Liliha Bakery there in the late 1960s.Liliha Bakery's owner Peter Kim (local Kaiser High grad and then Alabama football kicker under Bear Bryant) signed a lease to have a 9k s.f. Liliha Bakery shop open in Waikiki at the International Marketplace by this holiday season - - - but you know how that goes due to covid-19 restrictions.. McD of HI's McTeri sandwich is only available for about a month around the last few days of July and into August.... has been like that for the past several years... other than that it is not on the menu.

Love your videos. You guys should try the honey cream pineapples in Hawaii. We found them at wholefoods and pineapples havent been the same.

Nice quick series. Last time I was there, I walked from Chinatown back to about the Honolulu Zoo (my room was near there). Long walk! I also rode a bike from my hostel to Koko Head and then hiked it on a hot day. I won't do that again. lol

I haven't tried Duke's yet, but it's on my Hawaii list! The Bakery, especially that chantilly cake looked really good! If I buy a lot of gifts/souvenirs in Hawaii, I'll ship them home. I use my dirty clothes as packing protection too, that way you don't have to deal with the new stuff on your flight! You can send it pretty cheap at USPS and it will arrive home in about 2 weeks, unless you ship fancier for a shorter timeframe. Another great video B & L!
