Hi Average Dad, big fan, thank you for the continued Folding phones coverage. Im in the USA and I have a Samsung Fold 4 so definitely keeping an eye out for my next upgrade. So Android Auto is important to me, but also another thing that you sometimes mention but dont make a big talking point and that is “warrantee”. I’ve been averaging 1 new replacement/ year through Verizon insurance (they go through Asurion) and I’ve also had a good experience with SamsungCare. My Samsung inner screen starts delaminating and peeling off right in the center of the inner screen after about a year, and 1 time I got sand in the folding mechanism and had to get another replacement. So if I know you offer a 1 year warrantee through your store but that would still make me nervous because I keep my phones 2-3 years now and I know that I’ll need to warantee claim later if not sooner. So, are you able to make warantee another talking point? I think keeping that in mind my options dwindle down to getting a phone through a major US phone carrier: Google Pixel Fold 2, Samsung Fold 6, or wait til next year One Plus Open 2. Aka Chinese ROM and even the Global versions wouldn’t work for people looking to have an extended warranty right? What do you guys do about repairing screens and is that a scary cost for an owner looking to keep these phones 2-3 years?

I really like one UI. But samsung doesn't bother to improve since fold 3 as it has major foldable market share and the hardware is so outdated compared to china's offerings, mainly because most of china's models doesn't launch globally. I'm using z fold 3 and I can't convince myself to get another z fold, especially with that narrow cover screen and underwhelming camera setup, and have I mentioned the crease? Therefore I've just gotten the vivo fold 3 pro without even waiting for the next z fold announcement

This video has so much info for starters, and I'm not entirely sure you know the extent that I, a viewer, find this stuff so interesting. So more power to the Average Dad 👍
Awesome video as usual. When you do the this vs that Chinese rom phone videos can you get into some of the software nuance differences, such as this phone shows badges for all apps, that phone does not, and this one can be configured to show notifications when you drag down from top center and that phone forces it to show control center instead, etc. Thanks!
Xiaomi Mix Fold 4, Honor Magic V3, Samsung Z Fold 6 all being announced and released in the next week. Need to see when the Magic V3 is going global and if the Mix Fold 4 is going global.
Just subscribed. I came across your channel recently. Great content. Would you be able to do a video explaining more about the bands. In Canada, in order to check compatibility of a phone, the provider's require to enter the imei, but if you don't have the phone this is not possible. So it's ridiculous how the telecoms are treating this. My main question is how many bands can you have missing from the local towers so that the phone still works reliably.

Great as always. But please do a video on android auto and chinese rom devices. You keep mentioning the adapter on amazon but I cannot get it to work unless you know the technique.
As a subscriber of yours I don't care about a giveaway, which doesn't mean I wouldn't love to be chosen, especially for a Chinese brand foldable, but only that's not why I comment. I do it for the algorithm and because your channel deserves the push. I'm especially grateful for your channel because you give the Chinese brands the respect that they deserve. And of course I'm super grateful for you particularly because you're the reason why I bought the OPPO Find X7 Ultra and I absolutely love that phone. If I had the money I would be buying the Vivo X fold 3 pro right now. But I don't so I will wait until next year and see what OPPO/OnePlus does with the N5/Open 2 and either get that or the X fold 5 pro. I'm assuming both Vivo and OPPO will skip the 4 since that's a bad number in Chinese. But regardless my next phone will be bought from your store.
The V3 looks sick and i can already order it here in Canada from a Canadian company which shocked me (would still buy from mike though). Its $1000 cheaper for the 1tb than the 1tb fold 6 (which i already ordered) and in many ways vastly superior. Have to wait for mike to review it to see how the zoom is!
Your channel is truly awesome. I just went to your website and love your selection of phones. I'm in the US and will be ordering a few folding phones from you. Thank you for the education on the different OS on what will and will not work. I was a loyal Samsung Galaxy Fold user but honestly I feel Samsung has just become another Apple. I have moved on to Foldables that are fun again like the OnePlus Open and can't wait to order the Vivo Fold X 3 Pro and the Honor Magic Fold 3. Again thank you and keep the content coming.
I love the Honor Magic V2 "Global Ver" - I used it extensively in an overseas trip last month and it worked very well with Android Auto. Take photos in Hi-Res mode gave me some great pictures also. I also have a Vivo X100 Pro CN Version but noticed some of the 4G bands are not as compatible on Vodafone New Zealand (low 4G speeds 1-5 mb/s DL) - works well on Vodafone 5G (800+ Mb/s DL) and normal 4G speeds on the Spark Provider when tested. Once the Chinese manufacturers fix the compatibility issues they will certainly improve their market share :-)
Not interested in a foldable phone but this is groundbreaking news. The game has been changed as it regards Chinese ROMs and Android Auto. It was the one thing that would hold me back from taking a punt on a Chinese phone. In the market for a phone in the next few months and I think I'd probably fancy one. Android Auto on the Vivo phones would be fantastic. Fingers crossed on that one. Now i have the Full Android box in the car though, I'm not sure i could go back to just Android Auto. There is something quite intriguing about watching Average Dad in the car, obviously when i am parked up 😂

The fact Vivo is about to add Android Auto support in their OriginOS phones was undoubtedly a mega W to those who bought their China exclusives outside of China
To be honest I went from S24 Ultra, OP12 both on Gen3 to V2 which uses Gen2. I notice nothing slower or lagging. The Gen2 is still powerful. I will upgrade purely for the slimmer size and to get a good price for my V2. You can't go wrong with either phone I think.

I'm on the Fold 4 and really thinking about a Chinese phone now that we know that the Fold 6 is going to have trash hardware. Why do you keep releasing the same phone every year Samsung whyyy
Don't care about few hundred bux extra for vivo fold 3 global, it works flawlessly, android auto works perfect, no messing around with notifications and etc.... Battery is the beast even though I have noticed if you don't kill camera from background it will drain battery quite a bit. Camera quality is okey, I think S23 ultra was better, I get some blurry pics if light is not good or if object is not perfectly still but not terrible.
I'm anxious to buy a Chinese phone, I have a Vivo X Fold 2 and texting never worked correctly...I wouldn't receive some texts, others wouldn't receive mine etc. I'm using T-Mobile in the US.
Been using Vivo x100 ultra for a week. Just about got it set up to my liking. Nova launcher works - ✅ Nova Google companion works, kind of. It's there but you can't click on the links. (Google feed, swipe from the left) Google assistant/Gemini doesn't work - ⛔ Google timeline in maps doesn't work - ⛔ gutted about this as I often look at my timeline for work. Everything else works faultlessly though. Camera is a beast. 👍
I ended up returning my Honor Magic v2 because the software was buggy... I then got the one plus open and returned that (honor magic much better) and just went with the galaxy s24 and love it. If I get a fold, it will be a samsung... size isn't everything 👀
Looking forward to Honor Magic V3 might have to be my first Chinese import as the Fold 6 doesn't look that interesting and the Pixel Fold 2 is looking a bit meh. That being said I have just bought my Pixel Fold back from the guy I sold it too,😅
Hi, So I have honor v2 was great until upgrade magic 8. Then need 3 times a day charge it. I use it a lot even fir work but same way use before 8h+ on display now max 3h on display. So v3 looks great yes like that design specifically camera on middle not on corner But there sw is little killing me. Vivo fold 2 pro was much better for me but can't use wallet for many UK bank main street because Chinese version there missing some part of validation that didn't work. My question is this problem is probably on fold 3 pro is well? And it's on global and Chinese or it's work on one of them? I not use android auto 😂 so won't be bother ask for that 😅
How do people go about insuring their Chinese import phones and getting them repaired? I havent bought one yet but this is one thing stopping me. Any help
This depends where you buy the phone from, good places like Giztop and tradingshenzen offer like a year of warranty and will either replace or fix your phone, whichever is possible within that time. Some places like Bluediode offer two years of warranty. Some Chinese Manufactors are willing to warranty their grey import phones ( I believe OPPO does this, however I am not sure)
V3 looks very promising but magic OS is bad. And coming in at 9.4 mm, i don't see them adding wireless charging :( and what about IPx also. I still think the vivo x fold 3 pro is and will remain the best foldable of the year. Being super thin is very good but overall the x fold 3 pro just kills it. Q'd origin OS is very very good.
Sir what's your opinion about xiaomi 14 ultra global version Europe is it worth to get over s24ultra which i don't like it's camera this year... I didn't use xiaomi before i don't know anything about it's battery life and signal quality and more?!
As far as design Vivo X Fold 3 Pro > Honor Magic V3 > Xiaomi Mi Mix Fold 4. Xiaomi's rectangle camera bump is not aesthetically pleasing. Honor's leather back is vulnerable.
Samsung is crazy as a leader in the folding market they gave up their lead by not innovating enough for multiple years now. Why do you thing they do it do they think they have no competition and can get away with it and only deliver a killer phone if the competition is starting to compete in america and europe? I think they hstill have great distribution channels and could wait a year or two for the competition two catch up but with the Honor V3 the competion seemed to catch up and over take them if they can bring it into the stores and the front window. Currently Samsung seems to spend its money on such things lile premium position in stores and cheap on the features. I hope they fail with that strategy.
excited for the v3! Does anyone have more info on the wireless android auto adapter that works with Chinese roms that was mentioned? Is something like the Motorola MA1 enough or are we talking one of those boxes that runs android itself?
As a matter of fact I tried myself a couple wireless adapters but unfortunately failed to activate android auto. The problem is that it's not built in the stock rom so it will sure not work. Let's all hope they add it in their next update. Now I own both 3 pro versions and I definitely like the origin OS better so I'll hang on to it till August to see how things go.
Can you split your foldable screen in 3windows like the Samsung Galaxy fold with Chinese phone?. If yes can you show it on your phone. Because I can't with any Chinese rom foldable phone.
@@ameerr.7614 i personally prefer hyperos over originos, and i like thr leica science more than vivo's zeiss implementation. Both are great regardless.
@@ameerr.7614 I have the Vivo x fold one and I kind of agree to be honest because the cameras are so bad on my xiaomi, I also love the in-screen fingerprint sensor,.. Let's see what xiaomi produce and then I will debate whether I will get the Vivo but I am really tempted at getting the Vivo but I will hold on
@@balloonredd I'm tilling you this, because I bought the mix fold 3 (1tb carbon) from Giztop, and was not at all impressed by hyper os. It was extremely buggy and unnececerly exausting at a lot of aimple tasks. So I traded it back and ordered this Vivo x fold 3 pro I'm replying to you with. Vivo, and origin (not oxygen) is miles and miles ahead of the compitition trust me
