EDIT: I managed to find a way to make double tapping the pen's button play/pause music when outside the camera app, and take pictures remotely when inside the camera app (even if standing far from the phone). You just need to download "Button Mapper" and get the paid version, then click on "Add Button" and double tap the pen's button to register it, then assign the 1 tap option to play/pause music. You should disable the action inside the notes app so you can switch between eraser and pen by doing the double tap.
I came into this video with the goal to see if Honor's Pen UX is close to Samsung's or still too far behind.
After trying the 2, I can confidently say that the Magic pen is a great alternative to the S Pen and you can get a few extra benefits from it (writing on the main screen and free mark).
You can also download third party apps from the Play Store to cover the AI part that Samsung added with the Fold 6 (They're a gimmick for most people IMO)
The Honor's device hardware is a pleasure to hold and use, and the pen functionality is very similar to the Fold 6's pen. So I would still buy the Magic V3 again over the Fold 6 any day of the week.
Samsung no longer have the massive lead that they used to have when it comes to this part of the user experience.
I hope Honor adds camera air actions soon as that would take the Magic Pen to the next level.
Some notes:
At 4:25 I wanted to show what Samsung Air Actions do (for the S Pen Pro) but didn't get back to this. Basically they allow you to hold the pen's button and do gestures to take a picture or switch modes. This can be very useful at times, and I hope Honor add something like this since their Pen is also Bluetooth.
Samsung has the AI features for the Notes App, most are coming to the Fold 4 soon, but I didn't get them yet (you can find them on youtube by entering "Fold 6 AI").
I'm on the Chinese version of the Honor's Software, I believe the Global version will bring more AI features like Samsung has.
Either way there's tons of AI apps on the play store that do Image generation so it's nothing special IMO.
Just wish the Magic Pen had Air Actions to take photos with the camera and change shooting modes by holding the pen's button and gesturing, this is a great feature if you have the S Pen Pro (most people don't)
The Honor allows you to use the pen on both screens which is really useful since the outer screen on the Honor is wide (66mm vs 60 on the Fold 6).
I also missed to mention that you can charge the Honor pen very easily through a well hidden usb c port. And it should last around 5 days with moderate use. (charges to 100% in less than 20 mins)
Samsung's S Pen Pro also requires charging, while the one that comes with the S Pen case doesn't (therefor it lacks air actions)
The S Pen (non-pro) can be stored in the S Pen case which is a plus for some, but I hate the extra thickness and would rather keep the pen in my shirt pocket which is possible because the Magic Pen has a clip.
