I like freeforms because they look a lot different from traditional dreads (maintained) and its hard to resemble someones freeform dreads because all of the regular dreads can look the same and no one that has freeforms look the same which is one of the reasons why i love freeforms
I would say traditional locks are freeform locks. But yes, I do agree with you that freeform locks have more character, they're more bold, kind of fluffy and have an airiness to them, whereas the maintenance to ones seem super tight and less individualistic.
Have chest length hair and love my curls but just something spoke to me and now I completely stopped brushing my hair about 2 weeks ago and started watching some your videos last couple days I'm liking them

In the new stages once a week but as time goes by an they get longer once or twice a month but spraying them with water everyday or every other day is recommended
Hate to be the one to say this but seeing white peoples hair "locked" up kinda mekes me chuckle as their hair does not actually lock up, just mats together (unless they manipulate the process which would NOT be freeforming in the actual sense). Nice locks tho!
FYI: I had Dreadlocks 40 yrs ago. For 1 year. And I'm so glad I cut... "them things" off my head. And I never grew them back. Too me, they are of the most filthy, unsanitary, uncivilized, ways, to wear your hair. And I wouldn't recommend it to anyone. A lot of peoples I know with dreads. Have other poor hygiene practices. Dreads can carry: Mold, fungus, bugs, mites, bacteria, etc. And check your toenails for fungus, as well! Dreads Are Very Unclean. 😷👎👎👎👎👎
Knowing that my hair is part of my body, I take care of them as l do of my other body parts. Like washing the soles of my feet. An individual told me that maybe once a week is good enough.
