This is good info. I made the mistake of going cheapish back in 2015, 50 dollars (AUD) as opposed to 150, the pins although aligned correctly, required you to slam the bonnet, probably cause the latch was always partially closed as you stated in the vid. Contemplating whether i put pins on my new carbon bonnet or just leave it solely on the factory latch..
I just installed these areocatch hood pins on my car today and the quality is super and why would any want to cheap out on their safety especially the safety of others on the road.
There are good fakes that are basically the same quality and bad fakes. I have a set of both for testing purposes. The good fakes honestly feel JUST LIKE the aerocatches do. No wobble in the handle, very consistent, doesn't stay partially latched. I want to use them on my s550 mustang in conjunction with a set of genuine aerocatches. Both tend to fail at high speeds on a hood that gets a lot of air under it, such as the s550 mustang, so hopefully having a set of the genuines on the outside and a set of the good fakes on the inside will ease my nerves while using them and look better than normal pins. Wish me luck. Just hoping the 4 in a row nascar look doesn't force me to make the car look overly aggressive in the front so it all flows together
