Thanks so much for providing this playlist! You've really answered a lot of questions I had about the how and why that I couldn't really find anywhere else. I assumed and was told many times that I needed to use a tub etc for growing, even if I bought pre-colonized bags and now that all seemed like a waste of not only money but time spent setting up something I didn't need to do in the first place when I could have just grown straight from the bag by itself. I'm not a commercial grower, I live in a small apartment and just want mushrooms for myself so I use a black bin for colonization with a seed starting heat mat and then fruit in shoeboxes after with holes cut and medical tape over the holes for air exchange. It's nice to know in the future I can skip a lot of those steps.

Great video, I always wondered if injecting sterile water in a colonised block to add moisture would work but never got around to trying it, glad to see it can work, I'll probably try it soon.

Just found your videos very insightful, one question among many I may have. Side pinning = contamination but is there a way not to “waste” the colonized substrate. Very new to mycology forgive my lack of knowledge.

I have come across that between 1st harvesting and second gen some mushroom fan are advising to put block into fridge for 12hrs into bowl full of water, I thought its crucial to activate second flush ? I like that idea with water injection but cold temp is not neeeded? please answer

The cutting technique would only be for your environment, right you couldn’t do that for a bookshelf or your counter because I would lead to contamination correct?

Very informative series! Two questions... 1) for a 4' x 8' setup like you describe, how much environmental control do you need? do you need to tent to control temperature or can I use bare adjustable shelving? 2) when contamination does happen, is there any way to save the fungus or has it become generally unsafe to try to keep fruiting for culinary purposes? If I catch mold early for example and it's the size of a dime, can I cut the mold out or kill it with iso?

I have a question… Can I cut my block in half so I can grow two separate mushrooms? I am doing a science fair project and it’s a bit pricy to buy 2 blocks. Can I cut it in half and and give each a different compost to see how the growth is affected? Or will it not work???

If I have a 2 pound bag, would I inject half as much water before the second flush? You put in 60 ml of water in 5 lb bag. So I would put in 30 ml in a 2 lb bag? Also what gauge needle you use for that hydrating syringe and where do you get your syringes?

So the injection actually spreads through the whole block and doesnt need more? Ive opened the top of my bag and pegged it shut. I open it in the morning to replace air and close it again. Same at night. It has some pins. Ive placed it in a tray inside a large clear tub under my window. Indirect light. Temp is about 75f though of a day being near summer.. ideally it should be lower right?

Why not put circular holes in the bags and stuff with polyfill like on a monotub?Polyfill tightly stuffed on the bottom holes loosely stuffed on the top holes. Then you wouldn't need a martha fruiting chamber at all just a room with proper temps and shelves.

When i try to inject water after first flush....it just pops up and out onto the top of the cake. I can never get it to inject to the interior cake body. Why.

I love the concept of this method. However, I am encountering issues with the injection method of rehydrating the fruit block. Every time I inject the needle into the block, it tends to get clogged with mycelium, preventing me from pushing water into the block. Has anyone else experienced this issue? Does anyone have recommendations for remedying it?

What is the bag made up of? Manure, coco coir? How much does the bag weigh. I’m unsure of how much water to inject into my own bag

Do the all in one grow bags need indirect sunlight through the ENTIRE growth process???

You added 60ml of water, but would it be different depending on the size of the original block? Would it be reasonably close to weigh the block in grams before fruiting, weigh it again after harvest, and inject the difference in mL with a syringe?

When you inject the water with the syringe, do you need to cover the hole with tape or something? Thanks!
