@@julienbee3467 they're just common because they're some clean looking cars that are some what affordable all I drive is impalas they're Michigan made look smooth easy to fix good sounds are stock and you typically see those cars in every hood city at least in mi
I grew up in i Muskegon and moved around alot living wise, apple car trailer parks, Laketon by the bowling alley and then in high school live across from the lakes mall. Anyways I live in lansing now everyone complains about how it’s hood, but I actually haven’t seen anywhere that looks even close too Muskegon inner city\ heights. Still love my home town though it’s a strong community.
I grew up right on hovey street in the early 2000s and it was the best time of my life. No shooting, we were outside untill night time with no worries, doors left open with no fear no one would go in, pool parties, blankets in the grass all that. Nowadays, it's a whole new breed of scary folks out there. Just because u from the projects doesn't mean you have to act all crazy. Love and respect one another, stopped tryna out do each other and most of all stop killing your brown skin queens and kings. We got bigger problems to deal with already with modern day racism than to be sitting up here blasting music tryna be seen, standing in long lines for Jordans and killing each other. Peace and love Muskegon heights
Had a job offer out that way and had 2 weddings to attend there in the last couple years. Parts of Muskegon are beautiful but there is just too much snow and not enough out there. Oh also places like the heights
Muskegon Heights is used to be a peaceful and quiet back in the day until today. Houses and buildings are torn down and abandoned. What a shame!! All I can do is pray for Muskegon Heights to be a better place for people to live in.
My family from there. Everyone loved in walking distance from each other. By the age of 5 I knew where least 4 kin folks stayed. Mind you I ain't from there and would wander freely
MH is my hometown, but will never go back. Last visited in '75, I believe. Our house on Temple Street is in a crime-infested neighborhood. And Roosevelt High School has been converted into projects... "How did we come to this?!"
I grew up there, moved to Seattle 20 years ago and never looked back. Scenery out here is absolutely beautiful, clean air and a booming economy. Michigan is dead to me.
@@sparklesparklesparkle6318 That's actually not true. Economy is still good, houses in my neighborhood have all been selling over listing price. Economy here hasn't slowed-down at all. We still have the tech boom. Things are good here. Now, we have unhealthy air due to the wildfires but that will clear-up.
@@avestuart I lived in Seattle for a bit but the CIA mind control rays were too intense for me to maintain sanity out there so now I live in the mountains. No rays out here x3
@@italiansoldierfromww2460 No, I said that the scenery is beautiful and the air is clean out here in Seattle. You have a problem with comprehension or something? But what If I did? I mean, so what. Jeez
I was a playground inspector, and spent considerable time in Muskegon and the Heights. I would certify a playground, only to come back the next day and find razor blades in the tube slides, bolts missing from railings on playground equipment, and unitary safety surfacing cut to pieces with knives. Satan has found a home here.
I was born from Muskegon, majority of my Mom's folks from there, but glad I wasn't raised there. It wasn't like that at all until about Mid-2000s after Paper Mill and other factory jobs ceased, that's when it went all the way down to hell. I hear those Projects will be torn down in a year or two. BRUH, You was at Sam's on Getty????? That's where I get my DRINKS at.
That's how Flint was until 2003 after they demolished the last Buick factory. I was 13 at the time so I barely remember everything. It was rough in certain areas but we had hella shopping areas and fun places like Pirates Park, Playland the Genesee Valley mall. Flint had way to many Movie theaters lol! It was sad seeing Flint fall in the mid 2000's.
I feel sorry for all of the people in the heights that are forced to live in this dreadful area. They are given the littlest of opportunities among all of the cities around them, and are the most feared and criticized not only because of their stature but because of the majority’s skin color. Of course there is the bad, but it only gets bad without the proper help. There are children in this city with parents in jail and living in their cars and or the street. Frankly I’m disappointed in Muskegon for not assisting the people of Muskegon Heights when they need it the most.
That's what I thought. When the downtown area and a lot of the old houses are actually pretty cool even though it was really run down at the time of this video.
Property is real cheap there. I think it may be too scary for people to come to, even for a haunted attraction. I have actually thought about building a haunted attraction there. It is right next door to me. There is a fenced in parking lot separating me from Muskegon Heights. I have lived there a few different times. I remember it being a real nice place. My family used to go there on Thanksgiving evening to look at all the Christmas decorations. They had a life sized Jesus in the Manger setup in the park. There were lights and garland on all the light posts downtown. I remember seeing people going shopping at jewelry stores, clothing stores, furniture stores, etc.. As a kid, I liked driving through to see all the fire hydrants painted like cartoon animals. I have seen the city self destruct in under 40 years. Now there are potholes on all the streets, every other house is empty and boarded up. Businesses have bullet proof glass and bars. I drove through a few years ago and was propositioned two times. There are gun shots I can hear every once in a while. I wish they would clean up this blight in Muskegon. Of coarse, the city of Muskegon has a few areas that are just like the Heights. This place needs better leadership, and mostly we need jobs. The county commissioners tried to make this a 'welcoming county' which would attract more illegals. Sad. The county voted down the largest Marijuana grower in Michigan which would have brought some jobs and would have taken an empty lot and created some taxes which we need. Muskegon County has the lowest fiscal score of all the counties in Michigan, and they want to build a million dollar bath house in a county park. Morons running this place. Muskegon Heights got a brand new school some years ago with federal money and had to close. It opened back up as a charter school. Muskegon is a very poorly run area, and Muskegon Heights is just the worst of the area. If the cities and county would focus on bringing jobs here. More jobs mean less riff raff. Muskegon has been trying to make itself into a tourist area. Stupid idea when people are afraid to come here. If they can bring jobs and the unemployment is much lower, then they can focus on tourism. They have the cart before the horse. Muskegon Heights is a really cheap place to bring manufacturing jobs, but any company would need a fence and security.
I want to go on a ride along with you! Lol. I’m infatuated with your videos. A great mix of reality, the ugly, but most of all, THE TRUTH. My ex was from Detroit.
JH92407 and It'll continue with the next 15 white presidents like it did with the countless whites before Obama. At least Trump is throwing paper towels to flood victims tho am i rite lololololololol
My grand parents lived on Hoyt Street and Sherman, back in the 60,s it was a nice nieghborhood where everyone cared for each other, now with all the good jobs gone, people have turned to drugs and prostitution, what else is there ?
A Dump. The Poor are capable of Cleanliness & Pride in their surroundings. Take Responsibility for your neighborhood. A Community can improve their surroundings with drive & ambition.
Some of y'all are saying "it ain't bad". I lived there. Neighbor got shot for "the fun" of it by some teenager. Two people died in my front lawn. Stolen car with a baby in it got ditched in the street due to it being on fire, baby died. Kids being snatched & shit. Friend down the block constantly had the houses around him robbed and shot at, including his. Shootouts all the time. I know people from all sides of the heights. People with 10-20 bodies from that city alone. Y'all could change your behavior and do something about it but you aren't ready for that conversation.
The old people who owned them houses are dead. And they kids went off to college or work in other places. So tax base dried up. It used to be really nice.
And if you’re from Muskegon you should know where the heights are😂

Back in the early-mid 90s, I use to play basketball court at that corner 8th/ Hovey. That area was so decent back then, my cousin still stays on 8th & Hackley since 1950s.
Mannn ill never forget the women in this town and they made sure i never will.Thank yaw for the great, great hospitality!!.Damn i wish i could rewind time🕕🕘🕣
GR guy here. I work mostly in Muskegon. People in the heights have always been super friendly to me. I figure if you wanna do drugs then you just need to pay your dealer. Just like anywhere else.
I feel you, thanks for this comment, so many times you hear they need to do this and that but where the people at to go to council meetings to say hey fix our roads , build us a activity center. It starts with us
@@shanaviawilliams3646 thats it people need to start standing up! Not keeping quiet the next generation needs to know its okay to speak when it comes to our community don't matter if it's a crime or just the roads being fix...
When I was broke I Lived on my bike collecting cans n shit in the Heights. Corner Amsterdam n Highland. I ain't ashamed, CHILD SUPPORT for 8 kids is a bitch !!!!!
Why did it go from good to not so good? Honest question. I can come up with several of my own assumptions, but would love to hear from the real people that are from that area ❤️
Damn big ass project in a small ass town looks like the whole town is just one project 😂 there are so many ghettos in the mitten it's sad and it's really only populated in the south region of the lower peninsula from east to west
@@ronslaughter8817 I know there are decent parts in every town but I was making a joke cuz muskegon is small but it's just messed up that so many Michigan cities are struggling
