Welcome to the Hooniverse Garage. Here we're going to tackle a variety of projects over a variety of vehicles. We're doing it with help from our friends at Valvoline, who understand the demands of the Do It Yourself-er who likes getting dirty in his or her garage.
For the first installment of the Garage, Tim Odell will be taking out his soggy old suspension on his 1969 Jeep Wagoneer. He's replacing it with a new set of springs and shocks, which will both help improve the stance but also improve the ride as well.
So come along with us for the first installment of The Hooniverse Garage.

I love the wheel stand at 4:48. I need a large truck so I can do this on a regular basis.

Holy Hell. There is so much misinformation in this video. Overload springs do NOT help with axle wrap, u bolts do not fatigue over time, the can stretch when you install them though and ya, I'd replace too. The spring rate is affected by the arch, witch I think you sort of said but no, the leafs staying the same thickness will not ensure the same rate. Your new leafs (leaves?) Are the same length eye to eye so, they are obviously, with a bigger arch, they are not the same length.

The flat leaves In the rear are not to control axle wrap, they are called overload leaves and they protect the main leaves from damage due to over flexing from hauling too much weight.

How much duct tape would it take to replace your suspension with only that?

Did you have to lengthen the brake hoses at all to keep them from running out of travel?

Great video as always. I love this segment. But I have to add something, just a small suggestion: That logo on the bottom right is unusually intrusive, it draws too much attention to itself. More than in other channels or TV shows. You might want to think about adding some opacity to it, just to help it blend in a little bit. As well as placing it a bit lower, so that the bottom and right spaces to the edge of the screen are equal. Thank you for your time. Keep up the good work.

So did your shackle bolts come out ok or did you have to work at it ? And if you used new shackle bolts in the back leaf springs, where did you find the shoulder bolts for the back leaf springs ? They dont make them anymore!

I love that you are sharing this work and showing it in your driveway instead of a professional garage! I've got a '78 4-door Cherokee; a 4-inch lift is one of the many projects I have to do. Now, if I could just find someone that shows how to take the rear quarters off without breaking anything...

Can you post a link for the lift kit? I’m having a hard time finding the same lift kit to fit my 1973 Waggoner. Thank you in advance

So BJ's Offroad is the only company to make a lift for 63-73 "early" Wagoneer. He still is five lug but i think with alloy bumpers he make have a later model frame under that jeep. Seems like information we all need on background.

What package did you order for your Wagoneer? I have two 1966 Wagoneer's I am going to start working on and am having a hard time finding a for sure fit package before ordering. Everything I find online looks to be for 74 and newer.
