***** About Living Traditions Homestead *****
Living Traditions Homestead is all about living a simple and sustainable way of life. We believe the world has gotten too “busy” and that people are missing out on many of the true blessings this world has to offer. We started as a small urban homestead in Gilbert, AZ and after the city grew up around us, decided it was time leave corporate America and take a big leap of faith by moving our family to the Missouri Ozarks.
We put out new videos every week! We hope you will become part of our homestead family by subscribing to our channel and watching as we give up the rat race and live simpler, more fulfilling life in the country.

Morning! Right idea with the paracord, but there is a better way to anchor the coops. We have done this here in Florida and it works! You want to tie your cord at the base of the anchor, and then cross it over to the opposite side, making an X across the coop. So far, outs has made it though 2 hurricanes, and we only got 1 tear in the plastic and that was from a tree branch, not the wind. It's actually neat and yikes to watch the wind lift up the plastic, but the X holds it in place during the gusts. Ours is much bigger, so we have 3-X's across ours.
@mynutshellmail
@mynutshellmail 10 месяцев назад
I copied his plan for the hoop coop some time back and anchored it with 4 T-posts. Using heavy duty cord, I tied it down across both ends adding the X pattern on top. Using the A(left) and B(right) for the front posts then C(l) and D(r) for the back posts, the tying pattern is A-B-C-D-A. So far, no problems, even though we have high winds often. 😊

Consider using eye bolts at the base next to post. Attach the two with heavy gauge wire. The goal is to restrict all movement. Paracord has enough elasticity that it could allow for more potential energy effects.

About two months ago, here in Oklahoma, a quick freak storm picked up my hoop coop and sent it airborn into my neighbors yard and slammed it down flat. It happened at night and all of my 15 hens and 1 rooster was inside roosting. We only lost the rooster. We rebuilt the coop and tied down with ties we ordered from Amazon that are used to tie down trampolines. So far it has worked! Love watching ya'lls videos for several years now!

Kevin you may want to put Tex up for sale earlier rather than later. Once Tex finds a new home you can purchase a new Sire / bull. If any of the cows are open the new bull will figure that out, the heifers can be put back in with the herd to be serviced by the new bull. Also if Tex can see and smell the heifers he may push thru the barbed wire fence to try to service them. That male hormone drive is pretty strong. Best wishes. Blessings. 😊

You know that same storm ripped through our property too. We are in the midlands of SC. My children were outside getting their afternoon chores done when that wind picked up. My 14 yr old daughter came in the house because she was afraid. I told her she could wait till the wind died down but she would probably get rained on. She decided to endure the wind instead of the rain. While she was out there she said a prayer to God asking him to help her with her fear. As soon as she ended her prayer she looked up and seen her slightly younger brother running to help her finish her chores❤ What a wonderful testimony. The storm did just come out of nowhere though. I am so thankful that I had prepared my animal shelters for the hurricane the prior week. I too was going to buy those ground anchors but I was afraid that my soil is too sandy and they would hold. So I put tpost in as well and then zip tied them to the coops. That wind didn't move them coops😊
