@@leenewsom8277 A "Hootie and the Blowfish" concert was the topic in an episode of "Friends" - I barely remember it, but I remember the Friends go to a venue and getting to their seats, I think they got there late (maybe) the band is playing already, the Friends were ruffeling around swopping seats, getting in each other's way or something, all very light hearted. I wonder if this arranged appearance on such a hit show somehow took away some of H&TB's edginess, their base, or made them seem too commercial, too much of the machine, or otherwise underminded their success as a group. It couldn't have ruined them. They were tii good. Maybe it's was that Darius wanted to go out in his own. He does GREAT on the Country charts, no surprise, he could prolly sing any genre he wanted and hit it out of the park. Idk, but Hootie & The Blowfish fans who didnt see the "Friends" episode that featured H&TB may be able to hunt that down.

Hootie and the Blowfish actually cite REM as one of the reasons that they are a band, they paused their song at the 95 VMAs to drink to them!
