Lovely Senior commercial Roger. With the possible exception of a Kirby no modern upright vacuum cleaner can match the old Hoovers for carpet agitation. As with any dirty fan vacuum suction power with tools attached isn’t good but as you say these machines were built mainly for carpet cleaning. Keep the videos coming and thanks for sharing.

What a great vacuum cleaner

T-Cut do an amazing metal polish in a tube available from Motorworld and Amazon which is so good gets rid of pitting and small rust around £4 lasts ages but like the T-Cut liquid it smells. And and another great ebay buy 👍

Made a nice job that T-cut did - all it does is essentially strip off the layer of dirt and oxidation on the painted plastic, much as it does on a car bodywork. That deep, rumble it made on the carpet tells just how much it is beating, as it is sweeping, as it is cleaning. Looking at the serial number, we get a date code 602, which I would place it in the 80s, as far as decade is concerned, so February 1986 seems the most plausible date of manufacture, as I dont think these were made in that style in 1976 or 1996 - but I could be wrong, as I am unsure when Hoover actually did discontinue this long running commercial vacuum.

Delighted to discover that T-Cut is available in a full range here in the U.S. Personally I use Nu Finish on my Miele and other plastics. Wonderful stuff. Even used it to polish the top of a magnificent Baker table I bought, its walnut top looked "fogged" but was just a film of years old grime. Glows now. 😊

i find a good thing for cleaning up plastic bodied vacuum cleaners is brasso wadding [Duraglit as i remember it .works really well also good foe Bakelite

Do you know what year they’re made, or where I can search this, as I’m not really coming up with a great deal of information. The lady that left it to me was a family friend, and all I’ve been told was that she had it for years and refused to update to a newer model, it works lovely though so I couldn’t blame her! 😊 Thank you for any help in advance.

You should put a metal fan I put a metal washer and sawdust and rub against the plastic on the vacuum and you can have a metal fan got a lot of suction
