I think a sadist wrote this manual thinking how much fun it would be to drive people insane looking for this information. Bless you for posting this video; it is perfect!
I tried figuring this out for 20min (no manual) before I did a search. Im not even sure why I waste my time anymore. There is a video for just about everything these days. Cheers mate .
I had to laugh at your post because I did the same danged thing and was so exasperated. There is a video for just about everything but I did have to fast forward through 3 other videos before finding this one that actually shows how to attach upholstery tool!
Wanted to thank everyone for their comments it really been amazing to see how many people have same issue with same product. I was just trying to give back because people's videos have helped me so much. My only frustration is the videos where the people talk about everything ,but the subject the video is about for too much of the video. I tried to get to the point here bang bang bang.
almost 4 years later since you've posted this, and I can see it's still helping people like me! haha. I bought this cleaner in 2013 and I use it a ton (3 dogs, 2 cats) but only now am I needing to use the attachment thingy for the first time on our steps. Thank you!!
Thanks so much!! This afternoon our dog threw up all over the stairs - the runner was all soiled. I was panicking because I didn't know how to use the hose of the steam vac. Then I found your video. It made my day!! It was easy to follow and very helpful. You have helped our household avoid an episode of full blown chaos and stress attack!! I thank you and our dog thanks you very much!
got this steamvac for three years and I never used it because I didn't understand their instructions, but once I used it , it works very well. Thanks a million.
What a life saver. The instructions are terrible and had me so confused. Your video was easy to follow and allowed me to finally understand. Thank you!
Great illustration! After I watched a video, draining the water out of a clothes washer. The guy used a wet vac and stuck the hose of the wet vac to the drain hose of the clothes washer. I am very thankful you have this video regarding the hose, a zillion thanks!
You're a genius!!! My fiance and I sat there clueless for way too long! It didn't make sense, no matter how I pushed the little flap up and pivoted that damn thing! I thought for sure I broke it.. THANK YOU!!! ♥️
Thank you so very much! You are very thoughtful. :) My poor son, who was so sweet to shampoo the entire house for me, struggled with this attachment for about 25 min... I searched and found your video, he forwarded to the part you attach it: Voila!!! We will never forget this ever again! Tricky!
We just purchased the Hoover SteamVac Carpet and Upholstery Cleaner and brought it home to assemble. Even after reading the instructions, we could not figure out how to attach the upholstery spray line. We finally got online and found your video, which showed us exactly where the sprayer line was attached to the dirty water tank. Once we saw how you did it we were able to get ours set up correctly and cleaned two recliners that had gone through about 8" of flood water. Now they look and smell fresh and clean. We consider that cleaning just these two recliners saved us the cost of the unit, and we have several other chairs that will get the same treatment, as well as future cleanings. Thank you very much for your demonstration video!
This is at least the fourth time I've came back to this video for reference in the last 7 years or so. 🤣 I don't use the hose very often. Thanks for this video!
We couldn't find the manual and felt like idiots trying to figure this darn thing out. Finally put it together in two seconds after watching your video. Thanks a ton!
Wow. I've had my cleaner almost 4 years and had no clue that the upholstery cleaner brush spins. I thought it was simply a scrubber. Now I see that I was hooking it up incorrectly. I almost gave up on this vacuum.....now the brushes spin like new and it works perfectly! Thank you.
I'm was so happy to find this video! My friend and I bumbled around for about a half-hour before I thought of RU-vid! Truly a great service Doug. And well done. Thanks!
Your demo is by far the best. I watched a couple others, some with slightly different machines, the concept was basically the same. I have this exact unit, never used it. Now I plan on spending the time to try it out. Thanks for making me and many others a whole lot less confused.
SOOOOOOOOOOOO.... CAN I WE SAY THANKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKK YOU...IT TOOK US FOREVER TO GET NOTHING DONE...LOOKED AT THIS CLIP AND BEFORE IT WAS OVER THE HOSE WAS ASSSEMBLED....THANKS.....YOU SHOULD BE PAID BY THE COMPANY TO DO THIS CLIP....BLESS YOU GUY!
Oh my God!!! How did I not find you two years ago when I bought this $%^&*I thing?? Even tonight I was trying again and was seriously about to take a hammer to it when something told me to look here. THANK YOU! You've spared the life of a steam vac tonight!!
Thank you so much for taking the time to make this video I needed help, I was completely lost didn't want to trouble the neighbors, ready to clean my sofa, thanks again
Kudos! have used this tool at least a half a dozen times without the book, lost the book, suddenly forgot how to attach it during MY instructions to my husband who had this wild idea that he could properly shampoo the carpet...HE was the one cursing ours..THANKS SO MUCH! RIGHT ON TIME! :)
Omg thank you so much, I am using a second hand one so there are no instructions, I never would have guessed that you have to remove a part from the waste water tank first
I even subscribed to your channel because you saved us another hour wasting time to figure this out, without the manual, that we could be cleaning instead! We have a much older model, but the attachment is the same. Nowadays, Hoover has a round attachment for stairs: much easier to install: no need to be an engineer or puzzle solver!
Thanks! Was able to figure out the little hose but was only able to get half-way through figuring out the nozzle. Yayy people generous with their time to post things! Yayy RU-vid for making space to facilitate free donation of ideas!
I want to thank you so much for this vid. We borrowed our neighbor's cleaner just like this, and couldn't figure out how to attach hose to tank. ONline manuel came up in code-So, I found yours and Merry Christmas! Problem solved! Took care of the chairs I was going to trash! So glad! Hope your holidays bring you kindness and health!
omg, thank you thank you thank you! I borrowed my mother in laws spinbrush and lord have mercy, I found the manual online and it was sooo vague... You just saved my life!!
Bob, this was so helpful. You rescued the productivity of my evening. Now I just need to figure out how to put the hose back on the clips on the back of the handle the way it was before I used it! Really wonderful.
Thanks very much for posting this video. I must mention that not all Steamvacs come with the spinny stair and upholstery brush, as mine didn't. My unit came with a triangular brush that snaps into the hose. It works just fine for small jobs. If you had not posted this video, I would still be scratching my head trying to figure out how to use this as my instruction manual has gone into hiding. Thanks again! PS, the triangular brush is located on the top of the unit handle hiding behind a plastic triangle door. (very nifty)
Thank you thank you thank you for this video! I am an aeronautical Engineer by degree and a software engineer by vocation and i had spent 40 min or longer trying to figure out how to attach the hose to the vac with no luck. Your video solved the problem in2 min. Thanks again. Shame on Hoover for their poor documentation.
Thank you for posting this video! I couldn't figure out for the longest time how to attach this darn part. Two people tried to help me and they couldn't figure it out from the instructions either lol. I guess we were "special" since it was simple how you did it.
I was ready to ship this back because I just couldn't figure out how to work the attachment. Your video was simple and clear and my machine works like a dream!! Thank you so much for posting this. It's people like you that save people like me a lot of stress and upset. Have a great day and I really appreciate that you made this video. Thanks !
Doug this was a great video for this machine. The instructions that came with were not clear on using the stair tool. I really like the cleaner. Does a really good job. Thanks for saving me!
Thank you sooooo much!! Wish I would have looked you up a couple of years ago.....my sofa would be much more free of dog smell!! You are a gem.......Pat's wife, Jean
Thanks for figuring this out and sharing it. I rented the Hoover spin scrub 50 and could not find any directions online except yours and the rental place is now closed for the next couple of days because it is the holiday. A Millions Thanks!
Thank you SO much! I have been sitting here trying to read these useless directions! I was afraid to force the trap door all the way down because I thought it would be broken and unusable. Turns out, it was never needed in the first place!!
Thanks for the help. Toilet flooded and needed to clean carpet and your instructions saved the day. Only thing you didn't mention was that it really is a nice hose.
Thanks a lot, Doug. My daughter and I saved hours of frustration trying to figure out how to attach the upholstery tool. With your help we found it was easy and the tool works a treat!
I'm preparing to do some spot cleaning with my SpinScrub 50. I figured that it'd be faster and more instructive in this case to find a video tutorial than to find and read the manual...and I appear to be correct. Thanks, Bob!
12 years later your video is still helping people! 😄 I bought one of these Hoovers a few years ago but never tried to use the upholstery thing til a couple days ago. Couldn't figure it out, the instruction sheet was no help. Thanks!!
Thank You so very much for uploading this information. I bought the same steam vac yesterday, and I was just downstairs putting it together and got stuck on the part that you just explained. Now I can go clean the carpet. Thanks again.
Thank you so much! Gotta love youtube. this hose attachment was kicking my butt and my parents don't have the manual anymore. Thanks again...clean carpets..here I come.
you are a huge blessing. been so long since I have used the attachment that I totally forgot how to do it. of course I couldn't find the book. thank you very much.
Thank u so much I bought mine at a yard sale an the floor worked fine but I could not figure out how to hook up attachments now it’s hooked up an working fine have a blessed day an thank u
Thanks so much Doug!!! After all this time I was trying to figure it out & Thanks to you for making this video & for the RU-vid platform to display it!!!
Thank you for your awesome video- I thought heyyyy that looks easy... so I go through step by step and hook it all up, and there's no suction. So I try to take it off, noticing I've broken a part of the tank when I was installing the connection and re-tried. Well that when things got fun because I had to pry it off with a screwdriver and a hammer. Needless to say, I threw the hose away and decided to drag the machine up and down the stairs while I cleaned the steps. After nearly spraining my ankle and a lot of curse words, the steps are halfway decent :) Turns out all those push ups in the Army had me prepared to do this carpet shampooing thing! Hope I made you smile as now I'm laughing at myself, thankful I was home alone :)
Hey Bob: AWESOME VIDEO ! Do you know that I have spent over a year using my Hoover Spin Scrub (I've gone thru 4 already) and never been able to figure out how to attach the hose! I have been putting it in upside down. I could NEVER get the lid to fit back on the resevoir. I had the wildest idea to go on RU-vid to see if anyone posted instructions on it. YOU ARE THE MAN! THANK YOU FOR BEING SO THOUGHTFUL and PATIENT in making a video on how to do this. I really cannot wait to shampoo my car seats!
Every time I need to use the steam vac I watch your video. Without your video I am not sure if the carpet cleaner would be used! Thank you for your time and knowledge!
Thank you so much for this video. I have had my machine for over six years now and have NEVER been able to attach the bloomin' hand tool until I watched this video. I have a feeling my machine and I can find lots of little hand tool projects to do now. Thanks again for taking the time!
Thank you for this vid, we've had this cleaner for months and my husband came upstairs all sweaty from attempting to attach the hose. He is so happy right now cleaning his orange 70s couch lol
If the hose attachment doesn't put out the cleaning water, try filling a large spray bottle and just spraying the solution down. It goes down much more evenly and you can let it sit for a bit and even use a handheld brush to scrub the dirt, then just use the attachment to suck up the water. I found this to be much more effective overall.
Bought one of these used a few months back been using it regularly (recently got a puppy) but couldn't figure out the attachment till about 20 minutes ago thanks to this video thank you so much!!!
The only thing to add is that the attachment defies logic. When you insert the attachment it inserts UPSIDE DOWN so that the seal faces the lid of the collection tub. Glad you took the time to do this.
you sure right about pain with connection. I have main for about 2 years now and have to get manual every time to stat using it. Thank for posting, you video more streight forward that manual step-by-step-guess what to do thing. Thanks again!
So glad you made this. Still having issues. The black part that goes into the dirty water tank where you slide the panel out of the way - it seems I have to force it into that slot hard and the lid still doesn't want to seal with it there and the brush doesn't move. Hmmmm Appreciate that someone thought to do this. Gotta keep dinking around with this because I refuse to fail.
Thank you so much. The last time I tried to do my stairs - I attached it the way I thought it should go & ended up just soaking the stairs. This helps me immensely
OMG TY! I was trying to clean my outdoor furniture and I could not figure out how to attach the hose properly. I forgot were I placed my manual in my files. If it wasn't for this helpful video, I'd be outside still swearing up and down.
Thank you! Not sure how long it would have taken me to figure that out. The manual just kind of skipped over it. Thanks for contributing to good time management.
Thanks for the tip. This steamvac works just like my mom's Hoover steamvac silver. I couldn't figure out for the life of me how to attach this and my mom's directions over the phone made it worse.
