A nice song that reminds me of the structure of the lyrics "The Wrong Place" (there are also two verses, each of which is about its own hero) and this guitar riff in the chorus refers to "Jackie Cane". Funny enough that their last album already had a couple of references to their previous songs: "Belgium In The Rain" refers to "Eden" with a horn part, and "Full Moon Duel" refers to "Jackie Cane" with its cowboy atmosphere. And now, "Mysterious" obviously refers to "Battersea", "Por Favor" has already been mentioned, and "Don't Think", in my opinion, refers to "Pink Fluffy Dinosaurs"... with this incredible pink fluffy fur coat in the video and apparently the general message: "don't think - just dance and sing and floating through the day". In general, "Don't Think" is a strange song, if there was no video, I would take it literally. But! But there is a video, and it is so sarcastic that I tend to think that this song is a mockery of the level of modern music and a reproach to the young public who love this music. That is, the video contains so many cliches: crazy outfits, a "cool car", a dance for a tik-tok challenge, a scene by the fountain, filming in an empty shopping center. Geike sings and raps so venomously (Geike raps! What's next? I'm ready for the next level! 😂). Well, and the final scene with Raymond, as if saying "Yes, we are obviously too old for this." Such a provocative song, about the conflict of generations, as if saying sarcastically: "Come on, come on, don't think - just dance and sing!". Given the difficult nature of Alex and the possible disappointment from the Eurovision results, this is more than possible. I'm definitely intrigued by the upcoming album.
It does seem like the next album will definitely be worth the wait 💙 The first three singles are so different from one another, I'm glad they're experimenting again. And actually Geike makes rapping sound so effortless! It's funny how I regard Don't Think as a fun “silly” song, but maybe it does have a deeper meaning (Alex mentioned depression during the pandemic in several interviews. Mid-life crisis also pops up quite often, I hope everything's okay). As for Eurovision, 19th place did suck 😕, but frankly when they talked about it you could tell they had a blast just performing there and being a part of it. Also, they did gain some new fans after that, so it might have been a smart commercial move as well 👀
The fourth song can also be noted - "Fake Is The New Dope", which also differs from all three singles: it's so melodic and calm. However it is not known how it will sound on the album. How ironic that a song called "Don't think" makes you solve it like a good puzzle. And also a live version played on NPO Radio 2, in which I feel the mood of gloomy doom, something like "come what may". I like this performance! (Especially how Geike sings with one voice and raps with another. Cool!) Well, as Alex himself said: "Writing an album is a kind of therapy for me. I believe in the therapeutic effect of a song." I hope the music will help him to cope with difficulties again. The performance at Eurovision definitely brought them new fans. I am one of them! And the reason for such low place in the audience voting, in my opinion, is that the band was caught up by ghosts from the past. I mean the refusal to participate in the cover of "Love Shine A Light" and such a rude parting with Luka, which together seem to have badly ruined the image of the band among the general public.
