Alaric is the headmaster of the boardingschool she goes to. Her father did a lot of horrible things to him and his loved ones and on one side he is afraid of her what she might become (she is a vampire, witch and werewolf tribrid). Hence the line, this is your father. But he truly cares for her and they have a really close bond.

I was expecting the scene Alaric says to Hope she's her father's daughter like it is a bad thing and then the scene where Hope kills Alaric and says that yes she is her father's daughter and she's ok with that, she's ok about being the vilan, but this video was beautiful instead 😂💜

I find Alaric and Hope bond beautiful. One time in the show she says he is the closest thing she has to a father and I think it describe them pretty good. She cares about her as for his own daughters which shoudn't be that obvious knowing what Klaus did to Alaric (and his close ones - for example Elena) in the past.
