Imagine: Singing to your favorite slow song and getting ready for the ball of the kingdom. Everyone is invited, but right before you get to the chorus, your significant other calls and breaks up with you, you get to the chorus and the scene cuts to you singing onto the balcony of the palace in a beautiful outfit (trying to be gender neutral) and you cry and belt out the chorus. Your voice echoes out into the forest, the moon glimmering on your tears. Just then, you hear a rustle. You turn around to see none other than the prince/princess! You instantly look at the screen and tears drop slowly down your cold cheek and you instantly look down at your phone. You then smile and whisper, "I'm hopelessly devoted to you". I liked this boy A LOT. I didn’t share any classes with him, we didn’t have really any connections that I could try and start a conversation about. There was this one girl who had once been my best friend at a time. But I was always overlooked. She was always blaming her mistakes and actions on me. She almost got the police involved in a few of the things she did. I was the sidekick always by her side. I had no personality apart from her and I was obsessed and wanted to be her. I think I may have been in love with her to some extent but she wasn’t good for me at all. Thankfully this year I have made a large group of friends, one of those friend groups you see in movies. And it’s been one of the greatest years. I barely thought of her, after I finally let myself be free of her, it wasn’t long before she had only very few friends left, friends she can smoke and shoplift with. Well... this year she had gotten the part of Sandy in our huge school show with a cast of over seventy. I wasn’t confident enough to put myself out there so i settled into a role in the crew. On show night, she was singing this, I had been helping out backstage looking at the boy I liked and taking in the lyrics to the song, as I realised he was doing the same, watching her in the wings. I guess both of us were hopelessly devoted.
