Great vid keep them coming but the more bog holes you go through that you don't need to just gives DOC more ammo to close these amazing places down .

1:40 😢 Please don't do this. It's just not necessary on these tracks. Other than that, it's a good video 👌🏽

Great video mate. Looks like a beautiful trip, and the scenery is outstanding. Re getting "stressfully stuck" Harrs Rd, 3 hours trying to get two vehicles, my Delica L400, and a Surf, out of the same rut. Got the Surf out, but he had to circle back, about 3/4 of an hour, to get in behind my L400, hooked up, big snatch and ripped his tow bar assembly off. Hooked up again, big snatch and folded my front bash plate back, sliced my oil filter, oil everywhere. Had to be towed back through the same rough tracks we went through, and all the way home, catching all the 5pm rush hour traffic. Which turned out, WAS the more stressful of the days events. L400 is now fixed, and looking for new adventures.

I can imagine the traffic being more stressful there. Hope someone in the crew is looking at getting a winch. Far safer than a snatch recovery. Glad ya all got home safe though!

Just found the channel, subscribed... You guys should tackle Thompsons Track from Katikati to Te Aroha, up and over the Kaimai Hill Range...

We have taken on the Te Aroha side. We are yet to cross over the top or attempt the Katikati side, rumors say we won't make it.

When doing river crossings why do you go against the flow when there is plenty of room to go with the flow to help get across ?

Its not so deep enough that it really requires perfect technique, plus splashes make content haha

Why dig when you can snatch? Nice trip team.

I never aim to snatch anything. He's 3t of weight being held down with suction. Too much can go wrong with a snatch recovery when it takes the same amount of time to dig a hole for some recovery tracks and nothing breaks

@4X4MonthlyNZ are they direct fit? Mine arrived today and the bolt holes don't line up. Wouldn't have a photo of where your bracket mounts ? Cheers

@@davidallison3136 Mine mount direct to the bonnet hinges. Sorry, I forgot to mention they are for a Toyota Tacomo (similar but different to the surf) So only the second bolt hole will line up but I've never had an issue with it. Send me a message on Instagram or Facebook and I can provide photos.

Please think about how this video looks to those who know that valley well and want to shut access to 4wds, pretty disrespectful to the valley not to mention those that have worked hard to maintain the track and keep the gates open. Ripping up mudholes adjacent to tracks is not acceptable on public lands so why do you do it and post it publicly?
@lostsheepadventures
@lostsheepadventures 2 месяца назад
Most of the time, tracks have been created by diverting around mudholes in fear of people getting stuck or damaging vehicles. This in turn widens the tracks and destroys more area surrounding the primary tracks. On the DoC website under its 4WD guidelines it requests people try and stick to the main tracks without diverting off or around and damaging the environment. I will always try to abide by this and remain on the primary formed track, which too many can seem like ripping mud holes. In the case here, this section of track I will say, was a mess. Trails all over the place from people trying to either avoid mud, create mud or find mud. On a wet day, it would be inevitable to slip a wheel through there. It has seemed to create quiet a stir and I will look into removing that section of footage from the video to try remedy the situation.

@@lostsheepadventures A good video. I have read a lot of the comments in here and while they have a point, your point is also not wrong. I wonder if would be simpler to as you done here and show it but put it at the start of the video actually put in what the DoC 4WD guidelines are regarding sticking to the tracks. Might negate a lot of those comments that way. As to your comment "... in fear of people getting stuck or damaging vehicles" If is the case then why are they 4X4ing in the first place??. Because if you are 4x4ing it is guaranteed at some point you will get stuck and you will damage your vehicle and normally doing something you know you shouldnt but do anyways. What does annoy me most is not that.... it is the one's who are out on some of these tracks in a vehicle that should never be there in the first place and also being driven by someone who has only driven in a city........ I am all for people learning and for people going out into the back country. But use common sense and do it safely, with the proper equipment and vehicles. Sadly though for a lot of people both common sense and safely appear to be in short supply.
