Agreed! I discovered him through World Star Hip Hop when he first released 'I'll Mind of Hopsin 4". Mind you I never watch unknown rapper music videos on Word Star unless it's a mainstream person but something told me to give it a try. Glad I did, never looked backed.
My dad never understood rap. I’ve tried to explain the beauty and poetry and complexity and what a true art form it is. So I had him watch some of your bar breakdowns because you explain it so damn well. He gets it. Doesn’t necessarily love it, but he appreciates it now.
Yeah I went down this road once with my Dad with a few songs from "Kendrick Lamars - To Pimp a Butterfly" album. Long story short he appreciates the art behind it, but said he would never listen to it on his own personal time. He just doesnt enjoy it the same way he enjoys listening to the style of music he grew up listening to. However, I think with time that barrier could be broken down, it just takes an open mind and patience.

If I give my dad the lyrics to read, especially to someone like Kendrick, or Public Enemy, or Rage Against the Machine, he really likes the lyrics and message. He still can’t really take all the noise on a lot of the tracks, but definitely sees how cool the lyrics are. ✊

@Stoney Baker hell yeah man I agree! Haha when I first started listening to Hop, I heard about him as "Hopsin and Swizz" as if they were a duo that you only heard when they were together haha so I definitely get down with some Hopsin all the way back to the early Funk Volume days

Loving these Hop reactions, it's nice to see him get some recognition. He's explained in interviews that he had to learn how to do everything himself because he was broke lol. He didn't have the money to hire producers or people to make his beats, direct his videos, nothing so he learned how to do it all himself and became a one man wrecking crew
Love Hopsin been huge fan since 2013!! Love that past 2 years so many people waking up and digging hopsin. Hated always hearing people say he was corny. Yes he had corny moments but too much fire and talent to toss him aside from little cornyness. And also dude is so REAL.and great person in general

Example is that song and video of him and that massage place he slept with women. He's extremely talented he makes his own beats you can sing he can rap his fucking ass off he can make a meaningful song shitloads of double entendre and metaphors. A lot of people don't know his acting that he is good at he got because he started off as an actor he was an extra in that so raven on Nickelodeon or Disney Channel one of the other

The original version is hard to find now but it was "CRAZY," af what he said about killing her and its called "Kill.." They made a few different edits but the original when you find it he says her full name a couple different places. It's the video where he reenacts The Saw movie for the entire concept.. That must have been close to 10 years ago now. This boys been on fire from day one & I'm not sure I ever heard a weak song from Marcus ever..
