What is the difficulty set to? If its VH, West Rome and Sassanids are going to almost tie for first place lol. Barbarians don't get VH campaign buffs because they have nothing to collect income from or cities to manage public order in. Which is kind of a downside in the original BI, but gets more noticeable when you increase the size of the Romes.

I think the Sassanids have got this game. Unlike Eastern Rome, their troops aren’t spread out through many territories. The only really have to worry about the Huns, which will most likely target the East.

yeah, historically this can happen but they should have at least a smaller horde than the horde they start with and it should be lower in quality.

Yep, it's modded so Alemani were made a Horde. But Saxons were not, for some reason that the modder told me but I forgot XD

Yeah i was also surprised! I then expected to see the Saxons to be a horde but they remained the exception. Also we didn’t see the berbers

To put the berberes as a horde would have made the game even more challenging. Hey, what about the Welsh?! (Romano-Britons) and the other Celts?

Aye would love to add that the demon faction can spawn random hordes of minions.

Historically saxons conquered nearby modern day Germany and some moved to Brittania. If horde factions could make boats, maybe. But asking them to horde just because they are barbarian is like asking Celts to horde. It is just not in their culture to horde.

All the horde factions have code to beeline certain provinces.

I never questioned it, it just made sense to me. Strongest factions move to modern day Austria, then they either split to west, to Italia, or to east, Balkans and Thracia. But there are roman cities away from conflict in Britannia, Gaul and Iberia. Only problem is settlements are too distant. I either go through saxony and secure a roman town near English channel and conquer Britannia. Or just move to Iberia, and secure Pyrenees. I also realised that since the horde ai is too [silly] and aggressive, they charge to city center without any formation. So instead of attempting to secure walls, I pull back, form a line in center with my general and few archers, let the enemy charge at me. I don't get morale damage since I am on the center, and just use my spare spearmen to encircle enemy. Then the general charges as the spear wall and dies, triggering a rout in which my general charges to the enemy infantry, cutting them down by hundreds. Does not work for sarmatian AI. I never went to asia minor or africa. Crimea path takes too much time and africa is boring.

I agree there, but the modder made his call, but he did do a re-balance of some kind. Either way though, when it comes to the ai, those extra settlements won't really help it much, as it cannot maximise it's potential properly.
