Correction: Looks like L1+R1 tapped quickly works just fine as a hotkey for the Valor Surge. Also - don't worry about spoilers, I made sure to keep this as spoiler free as reasonably possible!

This is seriously one of the best reviews regarding this game.

One thing I must say, the sound design is absolutely insane. I loved the original game sound design very very much. And based on the trailer I can say this will be even better. Their design choice perfectly matches the tone of the adventure.

It truly looks amazing, so much attention to details everywhere....

after seeing how the horizon series has benefited from a bigger budget and scope, it makes you wonder about how days gone 2 would have looked.

4:50 the fact that a game has made it into this uncanny valley, imo is a massive accomplishment. To me it means we are really getting much closer to a game that is virtually indistinguishable from a heavily stylized movie

I'd like to suggest a few Direct comparisons. 1-The obvious PS4-Pro Vs PS5 (but also) 2-The PS4 Base Vs PS4-Pro And what I think would be the most interesting for the majority of your audience that still holding a PS4 base only: 3-Horizon Zero Down Vs Horizon Forbidden West both running on the PS4 base.

Got the game on pre order, but looking at all the Forbidden West reviews that have shown up in the last few days, GG and Sony really have confidence in the product to send out review codes to everyone under the sun.

A really fair review and sounds like we both feel similarly about the first game. I'm looking forward to the sequel because it looks like they improve on a lot of the gameplay mechanics of the first and I thought the first game was pretty good. It also looke gorgeous. I'm going to wait for the pc version however because I really enjoyed playing through the first game with a mouse and keyboard. Something about having to fine aim with a controller, I just find it cumbersome and for me dismantling creatures as you hunt them is a big part of the fun. I can see myself sinking a hundred hours into this, just like I did the first game.

18:47 - amazing. First time I have ever seen an in-game character model that doesn't elicit uncanny valley.

I'm actually in the process of wrapping up Horizon Zero Dawn for a second time in preparation for Horizon Forbidden West. I absolutely fell in the love with the first game the moment that I put the disc into the console until the end credits rolled. With Horizon Zero Dawn, Guerrilla Games crafted something truly special and memorable. The game had a gorgeous world, an amazing story, great characters and challenging combat when facing its mechanical beasts. Horizon Forbidden West builds upon the already solid foundation that was set by the original title. Much like its mechanical beasts, Horizon Forbidden West is majestic in its scale and visual splendor. The game is breathtakingly beautiful with detailed character models and environments. Ranged combat is still as satisfying and enjoyable as it was the first time around. However, melee combat seems to have been improved upon with the sequel. Being able to swim under water adds another layer to the gameplay. Speaking of which, the water in Horizon Forbidden West looks stunning, especially when the sunlight reflects off it. There are a lot of skills to choose from. The world itself is massive and its worth exploring every inch of its beauty. I look forward to playing as Aloy once again and going on another amazing and unforgettable journey with her. Guerrilla Games are a master of their craft and they've proven it yet again with Horizon Forbidden West. I'll be picking my preorder copy on Friday. I know that I'm going to absolutely adore the game, despite any bugs and glitches that come with it and I'm sure that Guerrilla Games will iron out the wrinkles. The game's positives far outweigh the negatives. It's going to be remembered as a classic for sure. Otherwise, thanks as always for another honest and detailed review. I haven’t seen many reviewers spend much time on the dual sense features. How did you feel it was for you? Similar to Ghost, does the haptic feedback feel like your mount is galloping?

This game is a master class in open world design. It's not revolutionary but it takes a lot of yhe systems that work in other games and refines them to be the most entertaining version they can be so far. It makes me think Guerilla took that Ubisoft formula and honed it down to the best parts and polished it all up with top notch stories and characters. I absolutely cannot wait to see a third entry in the Horizon series.

It looks so good, like CGI! Another reason why I loved HZD were the objective markers - - most games I play I easily get lost trying to reach the objective but HZD has the option to really tell you where to go. Best of all, for an open-world game, I get to go where I want and do what I want but when it's time for the main objective, it's so easy to get back on track.

This game looks gorgeous. I know this game has lots of quality and amazing gameplay with rich story. With that being said for me personally I never got into the first one. I don’t know what it is. Maybe I’m not into gameplay that focuses on ranger attacks. I was also a in your face melee/sword type of player when it came to action adventure rpg games. Maybe it’s also the machine aspect of the game. Idk. I wish I was more eager to play this because the game just looks beautiful. I guess you just can’t force yourself at times.

Man, it kinda sucks that the melee combat still isn’t that great. No wonder why Guerrilla Games only showed few clips of the melee combat in the gameplay trailers. I feel like they kinda knew it wasn’t that great so they didn’t show much of it, but I could be wrong. This was one of the things I was looking forward to the most & hoped they would really improve on. But it’s not a big deal I guess, the bread and butter of the game is the ranged combat after all.

10:32 exactly what i didn't like in first game and hoped for improvements. Especially the weird upwards jumping even if you run and clunky movement related to deformed terrain or debris type objects

Once you have gotten used to the different spare combo mechanics it's awesome though
