While this line is so so iconic, and i love it, Aloy says "Shit! Shit!". During the opening tutorial as the shuttle is falling down, making that her first swear in HFW.
This is some of the strongest facial animation I've ever seen from a video game and the fact they manage to keep it consistent even in minor side missions is wildly impressive
Seriously. The first game can be hard to replay because conversations are so BORING to look at. You just stand there and your eye balls jiggle around weirdly and maybe sometimes get a hand motion. They do address that in the frozen wilds quite a bit, Its actually kinda jarring how different conversations feel in that DLC. But yeah Forbidden west does that for EVERY conversation. I dont remember a single one feeling stiff and boring to watch.
They certainly raised the bar for the NPC conversations in HFW, it's actually the thing I'm most excited about for the rumoured HZD remaster; better/more dynamic character interactions. Obviously, the game is still just a rumour (at time of writing) but, I'd love to replay HZD with the aesthetic and QOL improvements from HFW.
I was playing Horizon a while ago, and I said to myself, "Idk why, but I just headcanon Aloy having a potty mouth" and literally a few minutes later, she yells out "Damn it!"😂
I don't remember the whole dialogue, but it went something like "I'm the one risking my ass down here" when aloy frees the sun fort before going to meridian
Yeah, let's pretend that Tomb Raider, Perfect Dark, the Metroid series, Beyond Good and Evil, Control, No One Lives Forever, Mirror's Edge or Portal don't exist, it was totally Horizon that first did it.
Aloy also swears when your crushing the slitherfangs with the shuttle at the start pretty much as the shuttle is taking down the tower aloy is standing on
at first i hated Katallo because he was so judgemental and in his ways, this cutscene made me fall in love with him and more after this one just made me like him more!
All the horizon companion characters have so much potential but Horizon's writers seem to struggle bringing it out. Kotallo may be their most succesfully written character so far. I hope the 3rd game allows all the other friend characters to devolp and shine more. And for Aloy to keep growing and maturing as well. I want her friends to feel like her equals and not her fanclub or cheerleading squad. Erend especialy has so much going for him if the writers would just allow him to go trough his character arc properly instead of making him the joke character. I also hope Kotallo's greatness wasn't a fluke this game and he keeps being awesome in a 3rd game, asuming he will be in it.
It reminds me of when Commander Shepard said "bullshit!" twice In ME2 after being mostly clean and calculated the entire 1st game. Also if yall enjoy this moment so much play Life is strange and hear her say fuck and shit a LOT.
it is not the First time. Erend, some etc. Realistically, 'sh**' wouldn't be common in that era anyways other than the original Human beings that returned to that Earth which did not died out alongside the rest of original Humanity before Zero Day. and have remembered those meanings of such words from the P-GA era Days.
The title of the video is "Aloy's First Swear Word" not Erends. And shit might have been known, only English was taught to the first humans but other than that we don't fully know what else they were taught by the Android Caretakers.
@@ReneAensland hrm. do not know. back then Aloy says 'sh**' also back during at the ends of the old proving lab BEFORE doing so with that scene of retorting to Kotallo for example.
@@ReneAensland I believe that is probably just some lazy choice of wording from some over there at guerrilla. as a way to lightheartedly get laughs from us very modern era-living player audiences, with 'sh**' being around still right now for us in Real Life. because some from back then, 'dung', or etc mostly fitting very far ancient cursed words wuld have been at least used here in Aloy's era. 'grazer-dung' that I remembered being said by Aluki for example should have been at least more common but all of a sudden it's 'sh**' now all of a sudden within the in-verse era of Aloy's? (would be even more confusing if some oc the well-known characters would start saying 'fu**' next in the 3rd game or something, before even delving deeply in the now newly acquired APOLLO archive that they have). a small immersion ruination there for some like me unfortunately? just a thought.
@@CaptainPilipinas Hm, she did have her Focus for over 15 years. Most of it we didn't see what she actually received from it. Old recordings? I don't know, there could have been a lot of explanations as to how they know moderns curse words. No idea.
@@ReneAensland I figured that would be brought up too. I thought about it earlier but even then....well, whichever deeply intact data that she got slowly habitualized from our (and our old one era counterparts') current Real Life P-GA era definition of English-based cursed words, I guess then. yeah.
@@ianmiller6798 Yeah, but remember Sylens is trying to gain old ones history, knowledge of our civilisation and language etc. and has only learnt it’s original context and not what it can be used for today. Anyway I don’t get the whole issue with swearing in video games, this game is a PEGI 16 video game that is made by a Dutch company and Aloy is in her early 20’s. Europeans well pretty much any one outside the ultra religious groups, curse and swear all the time.
She says her first curse when she's falling off the tower from undocking the ship against the robot snakes (can't remember the name), early in the game.
NGL would LOVE to see a game where she drops the F bomb(Just Once, more does not always indicate quality, and it would be more fitting with less as Aloy is shown to use her tongue to surgical precision.)
It's fascinating how the first game was on several lists for having the worst facial animation. And now the sequel is considered among the best. If not the best.
I like that kotallo and Charles smith from red dead are voiced by the same person and they both act the same, for example Kotallo: that was an unkind comparison Uncle: Charles? Have I ever lied to you? Charles: I hardly know you ;-;
