Got this done and mine was a 2 session extraction. The dentist took 9hrs for the first session and another 5 for the second. The effects of anesthesia went away in the middle of operation which made the whole thing an unforgettable experience. I was never afraid of a dentist and their dentist chairs before but after that is a whole new story..
my wisdom teeth were badly impacted and I had them removed. The Dr fully sedated me, and it seemed like it was over in a minute... it's not that bad, having a teeth cleaning is a lot more traumatic in my opinion.
This would depend on the proximity of the tooth and the nerve. This is typically assessed with a conebeam CT. Sometimes it is possible to remove the crown and leave the root in - this procedure is called coronectomy. It is not easy to do on a horizontal impacted tooth.
if they give u anesthesia, you won't feel a thing. i just had my third molar removed. dental anesthesia also stops blood from flowing, which also helps the dentist see the tooth properly. before my surgery started, i took 3 different medicine. 1 for the pain, 1 for bleeding, 1 to helps recovery
I got this done 4 days ago, and my jaw still hurts. The doc used local anesthesia and it ran out in the middle of the procedure. I cried like a baby, like I've never cried before. It was brutal.
Mine were horizontally impacted, and they did not put me to sleep for it. Although I was totally numb, I could hear them cracking the tooth and roots out of my jaw as my head jerked back and forth. It was hard to stay calm. Very violent procedure, left gaping holes where they used to be that have never grown up!
My good sir thank you for replying. I was under local anesthetic. The drilling tool that he used went dull. He had no extra drill bit to replace it with. I really am not sure why it took him that long but the a quarter of the tooth came out after 5 hours. My lower lip still can't feel anything up to now after 3 mos.
your upper/maxillary teeth are almost always going to be a way easier removal/recovery than lower/mandibular teeth (like this one). it's surprising how fast your body heals as long as you allow it to heal and don't interfere like eating things you aren't supposed to, etc. you'll be fine!
Thanks for posting this. Both of my uppers are impacted and are being removed in a few days. I was curious how it was done. I'm not looking forward to the pain recovery after seeing the gum pulled away like that...
I've considered having mine removed but they informed me there would be possible nerve damage because of the way they sit. Mine are horizontal under the gum. This actually does not look that bad. What are the odds of there being nerve damage with this surgery?
Why did it take so long to remove one tooth.. Im a certified dental assistant, experienced (30 years) never heard of such time spent on one tooth, unless problems arised during the extraction, my question is were you under a local anesthetic, or general anesthesia?
Gonna have all 4 removed this morning. Don't know how I should feel about it. Ill be sedated. Thanks for this video, let's me know what I'm getting myself into. Lol
I just had this done today same tooth... and also was horizontally impacted molar they inserted something that will turn into bone and attach to the jawbone. Im in so much pain right now...
Seeing your own skeleton is amazing, medical wise. But personally I do not want to make a video on my extraction when it is required. Bone is so white, until you get older.
My tooth is exposed and much higher, so when I open my mouth in a mirror I can see it pointing at me. It was growing into one of my other teeth which was broken (which I eventually broke off.) Will they still need to cut my tooth up like that or can they just pull it right out?
+mark virgil tablo Hopefully, they'll knock you out and heavily medicate you during the surgery. Not getting them removed results in severe pain, more chance for infections, and other problems that get worse with age.
I have a dental abscess from my upper mouler 3rd they have to remove it that looks like it will be painfull afterwards I should not have watched this lol
Until I start crying out in pain my teeth are fucking staying in my mouth. My teeth have always been straight and healthy/clean and have never needed braces, retainers, ect. I'm 16 and haven't felt anything at all yet so I'm hoping I'll be one of the lucky ones who don't need them removed....if not, fml
