I simply adore Peter Damm's timbre. My understanding is that for the bulk of his performances he used a lightweight, narrow-bore single-Bb with an F extension, rather than the more conventional double. Hence there is a brilliance to his timbre that is completely unlike that of 99% of other popular horn players. I hope to one day afford to buy myself a collection of single horns. My bucket list includes a 19th century Uhlmann crookable rotary horn with an offset second rotor, an early 20th century Alexander Sansone Model, a modern Alex Model 99, and a Jungwirth Pumpenhorn.
DANG! Twelve years?!? I've played for a little less than one! (It's concert band season for my school, and we are playing High Water Mark: The Third Day by Michael Sweeny, which I think is a pretty huge accomplishment for having only played for a few months.)

Fine listening to horns but no fun playing them. Some old lady told my parents when I was a kid I looked like I’d have great embouchure, so I got stuck in band for years lugging that horn around. Hated to practice and was a pretty mediocre performer. Finally I’d had enough one year and took an art class instead of band. I was good at it and could enjoy listening to horns again, without all the spit. So much for embouchure.

In my life when a child , in my travels , i love the horn concert ever, first of course the Mozart jewels, and later more and more of this beautiful pieces of art. Thanks by this pack.
It was one of my instruments.I started on the flute. I was zsked if i would tty and help. I swiched to the horn for one concer. I never wanted to go back. So i swithed. I never regreted the move.
Nice music. Well, we live in the USA, and all the political criminal polarization that will eventually lead to the 2nd bloody USA Civil War, as it were, if such polarization division does not stop. These horn concertos remind us FCI: Family Church Israel of Christ's/Messiah's Peace. For the Son of Man did not come to bring world peace, but His Peace once followed, causes division and all evil stuff by the world. Instead of following on social media, it is better to follow JESUS/YESHUA. Thank you for the nice music. It beats all the anti-Christ, anti-semitism that wolves clothe-in, when we FCI preach God's Word Torah. St. Paul also reminds us to preach the Word of Life in season, and out of season. So we all can enjoy this nice classical music any season until time ends past y3k. Psalm 19. Amen אמנ.
Peter Damm's name should really be in the title given he is the soloist on every track. But anyway, great to see this, is this album on spotify? Love Peter Damm.
As much as I enjoyed this recording, it would have been much more interesting `to hear i`t on original instruments. Thank you for this amalgamation of exquisite music.
On the contrary, we have an entire video dedicated to Mozart's Horn Concertos! You can watch that video here: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-_ZXUVFaaPEs.html
Before I started band I had to pick my instrument. My older brother selected saxophone. All I remembered was that he always needed more reeds. I decided to select the first instrument that didn’t need reeds. Unfortunately, the for one was the flute. On my senior year I switched to French Horn. I regretted my first selection. If I had looked at other options, I would have selected the horn.
Putting the Saint-Saens and Schumann back to back in this compilation is so filthy. Two of my favorites as a horn player. The Haydn D Major one is also fantastic.
