After those movies I’ll never view Roman Empire the same way I used too. It’s good our Slavic ancestors (Goths, Vizigoths, Vandals etc.) destroyed the evil.
@@davidmagann1805 Actually Pan Am doesn't come from the Latin panem. Pan comes from the Greek "παν" (pr: pan), which means "all, whole", and Am was short for "American", and in fact, Pan Am's complete name was Pan American World Airways. Basically, it means "Airline that goes to all of America and the World", or something on those lines.
Panem's named after the Latin saying "panem et circenses" which is literally translated to "bread and circus games". The saying itself was a reference to the strategy used by Roman leaders to appease the people by giving them food (panem, bread) and entertainment (circenses, the circus). Since the HG nation has these kind of Games, the author took the Latin saying and used it to name it.
thesamuraihobbit what if it was like a non-lethal version, with pellet guns and soft tipped bows. And the country who’s victor won got to host the next one or something like that.
When the wife and kids were down in the basement playing, I played 0:12 over the house-wide music system, then used the intercom to say “attention tributes. Dinner will be in 5 minutes. There are no further announcements.”
With COVID-19 now an international emergency, they should begin creating emergency messages for television with this song as the introduction along with the UN seal.
Such an incredibly made song, the heroic feeling that it vibrates, played smoothly, or empathized carries the perfect emotion towards a scene, the anthem can fit any emotion from sadness to a strong event, and still sound beautiful.
TF its been 7 years and this is actually my first time knowing the title of this anthem.. its also my first time hearing the whole anthem.. why do I feel like i'm one of the tributes? ugh
Because I believe the beginning of the song reminded you of the horse carriages scene, where the tributes waited before parading. I felt like a tribute too
Oh Horn of Plenty Oh Horn of Plenty for us all And when you raise the cry The brave shall heed the call And we should never falther The Horn of Plenty for us all Oh Horn of Plenty! Oh horn of plenty - The cornucopia Oh horn of Plenty for us all - Resources for tributes And when you raise the cry - The gong sound The brave shall heal the call - The brave shall take notice of the call And we shall never falter - We shall never lose momentum
War, terrible war. Widows, orphans, a motherless child. This was the uprising that rocked our land. Thirteen districts rebelled against the country that fed them, loved them, protected them. Brother turned on brother until nothing remained. And then came the peace, hard fought, sorely won. A people rose up from the ashes and a new era was born. But freedom has a cost. When the traitors were defeated, we swore as a nation we would never know this treason again. And so it was decreed that, each year, the various districts of Panem would offer up, in tribute, one young man and woman to fight to the death in a pageant of honor, courage and sacrifice. The lone victor, bathed in riches, would serve as a reminder of our generosity and our forgiveness. This is how we remember our past. This is how we safeguard our future.
Oh horn of saaaaattaaaaannn Oh horn of satan kill them aaaalllllll And when you make them crryyyyyy The kids shall scream in paaaiiinnnn And you shall never geeeetttt caaauuugghhhttt

Well I think panem is wordplay of "panam", or pan-america or "the whole america". IMO, the movie depicts some sort of dystopic north american government in an alternate reality
The American presidential seal has a talon of arrows (war) and a talon of olive branches (peace), and here both talons of the bird has arrows, meaning all war.
i just realized the feathers on the eagle are to represent the 12 districts, the middle tail is district 13 and the 2 outer tail feathers are the capitol and the eagle its self is the president holding up and caring for the districts and its "shinning" capitol and the arrows on both sides instead of arrows on one side and olives on the other meaning war and peace but because theirs only arrows means theirs no more peace and it must be restored. yet it also shows how the president uses the districts and the capitol as they are the feathers that help him fly note: this is only my opinion and this may not be intended but if it is then its a very smart design
For this logo: If we take the terms that all the districts are present, District 13 is present. The Capital is standing on it, signifying it’s dominance over the district.
So we can say that James Newton Howard can create a national anthem. He is gifted. So come he never won an Oscar? 2:03 I really enjoy that part. I feel like Part of THG.
Because it is not his creation, he rearranged and adapted it for others purpose like the propaganda film but the Horn of Plenty anthem is the work of Arcade Fire, James Newton Howard only made the movie score version.

PANEM FOR EVER! But yeah we will never get a new Movie, they want to make a new Movie but the bookwriter wont, so we will probably never see a new movie :/
@@pssyo2566 Maybe a prequel showing the birth and the rise of Panem ? 😃 A bit like the «Star Wars» prelogie ! 😉 But a long time before the birth of Katniss.
Agree. The second part is okay too but the third and the fourth parts... I just hate the idea of rebellion against the Capitol. And who is making the revolution? Katniss Everdeen, a strange lady who got out of the Arena with her friend by the grace of gamemakers. She was given money, a house in the victors ' village. And all they asked in return was to read the cards during the tour and smile. But THIS is tooooo difficult for Katniss. She and Peeta just can't figure out why the citizens of the Capitol don't want to share their food with poor districts. But it never occurs to her to share HER food, which she has in abundance, with the poor starving children in District 12. So... Why does the Capitol should care about her district? However, she is just not a very smart girl and she doesn't understand what she is doing and what consequences it can bring. That's why after all, we can assume she killed her sister by herself. Along with a bunch of innocent capitol children and other innocent people of Panem. But she doesn't care about them. The only important thing is that the sister was killed. Forget about the thousands of victims! Poor Prim! How sad! Ohh... Sorry. I just can't deal with the end of the trilogy... Panem today. Panem tomorrow. Panem for ever. Thanks for listening. Have a nice day✨🌸

Hah, if only they waged a proper war. Sure, it'd have cost them the Capitol but D13, and it's rebels, would be destroyed. As with everything about Panem... STUPID!

Finally found the version that is played in the first movie but I can't find the second version that I used inside the arena of Catching Fire during the scoreboard scenes 😭😢
@Kian - i thought it was this one at first too, but if you listen closely, the catching fire version is quite heavy with the use of string instruments for the treble/main melody which the studio version doesn't have. Thanks tho :)
I remember hearing this at motiongate, Lionsgate section (The Hunger Games Theme Park) at The Capitol Bullet Train. Brings me defeated every time. *Love it.*
After climbing a tree and tying your harness, you stop to rest. Laying your bow by your side, you realize how tired you are. After all the hysteria and death that the day brought, it’s only evident. An anthem rings in the distance as a sudden light fills the stars.
Rest In Peace to all the heroes , families and friends who died during this pandemic. Leave a 💥 for each person you knew who has passed,in honor to them!
I don't associate this anthem with the capitol, I associate this with the tributes coming together hand in hand. The 3rd quarter quell, and the final hunger games. This will definetly make an appearence in the new movie.
I have always liked this anthem. When reading the books, I was uncreative, so I just pictured a glorified orchestral Twinkle Little Star or some other children’s song.
If the US just made this our anthem and the military used it imagine the absolute bangers of recruitment ads they could put out. every one would be signing up LMAO
When you've likely got a gun aimed (figuratively or literally) at your head, you WILL compose the best song of your entire life. If not, well.... *gunshot*
@@joeclark1893 lol what if all of Panem is actually like a whole arena built by the rest of the world and they're just watching and no body inside realises it
Although Panem is a horrible dictatorship in the film: This virual anthem is great. In my opinion this could be the anthem of SPQR. If the Roman Empire had survived to this day, then that would be their anthem ;-).
