Horn Pond Mountain.
Horn Pond is one of my favorite places to run whenever I am in town visiting family. While most people stick to the paved loop around the water, I like to explore the wooded trails and head up to the top of Horn Pond Mountain. Every time I am up there I would find more and more odd things. I quickly fell down the rabbit hole looking into the history of Horn Pond and discovered a hidden history from Native Americans, ice making, a sunken island and even a skiing operation.

I lived there from when I was 7 years old till I was thirty-five when I move to to Washington. I grew up there , what a great place. We used to ride bikes in the woods. Supposedly there was an Indian Settlement up on the top of the mountain right on the other side of where that reservoir was. They called it the Indian bowl. As I'm 62 now and have been around, The place still holds up well. What great towns they are.

Loved this video! I grew up 2 houses from the border of Winchester and Woburn on Pond St. I remember Foley beach as a kid… there was a snack bar too. Have many fond memories of runs, walks, hikes and nature exploration at Horn Pond!

Come see the steam engine on it's shore, the old city water pumping engine from 1908. It stands 3 stories tall and we will be running her most of this May.

I ran all of the beautiful trails out there year round starting when I was 22 yrs. old and into my 50's. I enjoyed every moment out there.

Very cool and informative video! I would’ve never guessed there was a ski area there before, I love trout fishing at Horn. Gotta make my way up the mountain one of these days.
