We found some footage in our library of Hornsby Shire in 1957 and decided to film the same spots today to see how much has changed in half a century. The footage was originally captured as part of a promotion for the building of the Wrigley's factory.

Thanks for posting this gem; I wish other councils around Sydney would follow suit!

It looks like the "Village of Asquith" at 1:06 is shot from the corner of Peats Ferry Rd and Bouvardia St looking ENE towards the service station.

@@freddofrog8794 He was hard to forget if you had anything to do with the area. He hung around into the late 80s / early 90s and then moved on I think. One of those local "institutions" the council probably doesn't want to promote 😆 but he was kind of a cult anti-hero for teenagers of the era. I talked to him outside ABC milk bar a couple of times he wasn't a bad guy just had...uh...difficulties.

@@lachietzarov2585 He was an infamous drunk that hung around outside the train station at Hornsby on the Pacific Highway or "the old side" abusing passers by and bludging change and ciggies. Like I previously stated he was something of a cult hero / anti-hero for teenagers at the time. I don't honestly know much about his personal story. If your mum lived in the area at the time (late 70s to late 80s or early 90s) she would no doubt remember him.
