Great short❤️ Really captures in a "mild" way what a female feels. I completely identified with her. Wonderful job! I kept expecting physical violence however I was pleasently surprised the same scary feelings got across to the audience without any violence.

@james Deer so you’re considering scaring the shit out of a girl in the middle of the night and trying to force yourself on a girl after said girl clearly rejected you or a police officer that’s trying to lure an UNDERAGED girl in his house just “hitting on a girl“? I’m sorry but you’re part of the problem. It was indeed implied that they were trying to hurt her.

This was very good short. I gave it a thumbs up and noticed the 101 down thumbs and that is not very god number for only 18,100 views and only 1.3k up thumbs. Apparently we 101 professional movie critics who missed something here. This short, without a lot of expense could be made into a 1- 1/2+ good movie. I have already came up with, who , how, and with what each male actually done. It could be wrote as drama or a comedy, or even a very sick comedy or sick drama. This short has everything. Thank you for allowing me to give my opinion. I'm a little sarcastic some times, no efencee to the 101 crtics.

How about both? Are we not allowed to acknowledge that men shouldn't be creeps and any human, male or female, should try not to walk alone at night for an extended time? They are not mutually exclusive, nor is it "victim-blaming"

I love how each of these guys appears as someone who is "safe," but in reality, and especially under the cover of darkness, it is impossible to tell who you can trust. Clearly something must have happened at the party beforehand too, as Jess is visibly upset, so maybe whatever traumatic event she experienced earlier in the night made her even more vulnerable (whether actually, or by her own perception) to further potential dangers. What's always been one of the creepiest things for me like in horror movies and such, is the concept of believing that you've escaped a potentially terrifying situation, only to realize that your "savior" was the most dangerous predator of them all, similar to the cop in this situation. I also LOVE how you showed us the first creeper in the end being the friendly "harmless neighbor," who in darkness, may not be so harmless. These are exactly the feelings (real, imagined, or some combination of both) that we face so often out in the world.

I'm a woman who used to have had to walk alone at night. Once that truck showed up the first thing I would do is get off the road. Not much is more alarming than something stalking you who has a vehicle. Then the car speeding up you don't know if they're going to hit you. Say no to the ride especially if there's more than one person in the car. The part where she had to choose between the guy and the cop was good. You didn't know which one was worse. If it were me and the cop was just as suspicious to me I would have remained with the guy because he would be easier to take on in a fight and less likely to have weapons and training. I had been followed a handful of times at night but fortunately nothing happened.

@@wgtow3434 that's belittling of someone's experience. Just because it doesn't seem extreme, or it's nothing to you, doesn't mean it was a traumatic experience to them. Everyone goes through different traumatic, haunting and painful experiences. Some hurt more then others in different situations and some cope better or faster then others in different experiences as well. Just because you thought it wasn't something to freak about doesn't make it true or unimportant. You should really be mindful of what you say and try to put yourself in that person's shoes before judging them and their experiences. It's not nice or okay and you wouldn't want anyone doing that to you, whenever you go through something painful or bothering or disturbing to you. Please try to be more open minded instead of cold or brutal.

All these people saying “that’s what happens when you drink too much,” “why is she wearing that,” “don’t walk alone at night.” None of you have ever found yourself in a bad situation before? Ever? This can happen to anyone. Not drinking, not wearing a skirt, not being able to call a cab (it looked rural as hell, who knows if she tried and couldn’t get a ride). These are all excuses for behavior that shouldn’t be happening in the first place. Don’t blame her, blame the three types of men that threatened her on a walk home.
@classicwhitebread
@classicwhitebread 3 года назад
The consequences about this entire short film are even crazier. She's going to now eventually meet these three men at some point again. The film also tells us she doesn't live too far from where she got dropped off. The dude she has to now come paths across again is the peer who almost took her down a dirt road. Then it's the cop... The last dude she might not see ever again is the guy who was whistling at her in the beginning but you bet they know each other now. Well at least their physical appearance. Next time she goes out to party she should consider leaving with a friend. Or catch a ride before leaving the party. Never know when that dude in the pick up truck might see her again.

People are talking about being able to call a cab, and that may sometimes be a better bet, but several times I've had cab drivers prey upon me as a young adult - flirting with me, asking me on dates, one tried to convince me into sexual acts. I thought I was safe with them but I was naive of the dangers there until these events occurred. Sadly we cannot rely on anyone by who they are on the surface or first impressions, instead we need to strengthen and trust our gut instinct.

My anxiety shot through the roof on this one. The police one reminded me of one time when I was on the bus, after work. It was dark, but not late at night. This particular bus driver, used to always be especially curtious to me, and I appreciated it. No more, no less. Then eventually he started to give compliments on my appearance. I say "Thanks" and head all the way to the back. He would stand up and fix his mirror, so that he can watch me, the whole time. It was so gross, but that was all. This went on for two months. Then one particular night, I was tired as hell, and I was dozing in and out, making sure I didn't miss my stop. There were plenty people getting on and off the bus, and never less than 5 folk on everytime I opened my eyes. But I drifted off a wee bit longer than I meant at one point. That's when I heard the bus power down and my eyes popped open, just in time to see the lights being turned off and the bus driver hurrying down the asle towards me. There was nobody but us, by then. I swung and kicked, before he could actually get hold of me. I flew to the back-doors ( closest to me ) kicked them open and I ran and cut through some sidestreets I know the bus can't travel. I tried to press charges, but his employers covered his arse. This was before St. Louis, had cameras on their buses. Was my word against his. And he still drove that bus for a few years afterwards, so I'm told.

This hit home. I remember being 19, just moved to Orlando for my job, was broke still and driving a busted car and my car began to severely overheat so I had to immediately pull into the nearest gas station and get some coolant and pray I could make it down the road to my home. There was absolutely no one there no other cars except for the worker and all the windows were plastered with decals and ads and paint so you couldn’t see in or out of the little building. I’m coming out with some coolant and I got a weird feeling come over me. I look up and two guys, one with a busted up face like he had been in a real bad fight came around the corner of the building. Looked at me for a long time then I saw them look at each other, nudge each other and speed walk my way. I got in my car, turned on the car so fast locked the doors, they screamed at me crazy stuff. My phone was dead of course as well. Terrifying. Once they left I ran back inside and asked the clerk for help

Its actually quite worrying how many women experience this fear or similar situations. I will say as a man I have innocently walked home a couple of miles when it wasn't even dark. The women in front of me kept turning around and i spend more of my time crossing the road so I wasn't on the same side as her to help calm her down but it was unfortunate as i kept on praying she would turn off somewhere else but we were walking the same way .She just appeared to look more stressed and after about 2 miles she started running. I actually felt sorry for her as i was just walking home minding my own business listening to my music and to have that level of fear must be crippling. I have also had people clutch at the purse or handbag when I have got in the lift and going about my business. Now I do acknowledge I do not know what people have experienced before they have been in the same environment as me so I don't take it personal but I would love to see some of these themes also tackled in a short film.

There are a lot of predatory strangers out there but sometimes the ones you know can also be scary as hell. The Director of this short was commenting on questions people asked & this was one. Apparently they originally filmed the beginning as the girl is at a large HS party, in the bathroom with the door shut, crying. Loud music was blaring & strobe lights flashing, and when she comes out she is wiping her tears and leaves the party house to walk home. But due to the film being a short, they cut that scene. The Director also felt they didn't want the focus to be on what happened to make her walk home alone, but on what happens during her walk, when she meets the three wolves in sheeps clothing. "The three *men a woman meets at night" (*read: predators) are: 1) The Friend 2) The Protector 3) The Stranger

But I'm glad to know anyways. But being the neurotic little nit-picker that I am, needs all lose ends tied up, or it wld nag me incessantly forever. LOL. Imo, the only logical purpose for leaving viewers with more questions than answers wld be to set the story up for a seqel. If not, an otherwise clever cliffhanger becomes the dreaded PLOT HOLE, which overshadows everything else, such as great acting, beautiful setting, costumes, graphic designs etc. Plot holes are the eternal "fly in the ointment."

This is why I don't go out at night. At least not alone. Its just something about the night that brings out the worst in some people.

I’ve had almost this exact experience, with a stranger, a friend, and a cop. The cop was the fucking worst. They really do use their power against you.

The scariest part is when you meet them during the day (like the guy washing his car) and they’re the “friendly neighbourhood family man waving and washing his car” *shivers* this is so relatable for my younger self when i thought “its just a short walk ill be fine” like girl youre in the dark in the middle of the night in heels which a bunch of creepy mofos lurking in the shadows, no youre not fine. i freak out when i think of back then😳

Day 3 and am not disappointed. Another thought provoking short. That look from the girl to her neighbor (was it?), in the end says it all.

@@yourboyphoenix3217 oh yes, I hold onto faith that there are still good men out there. I know because I married one and I’m raising three, and there are others out there who value women and wouldn’t behave this way. Thank you for your kindness.

It’s interesting how we’re too quick to blame the girl... how about these men who were raised so poorly that they didn’t have the decency to help the girl get home safely. Stupid cop saying his daughter and all, yet, nasty man with ill intention... well done Alter, u guys r amazing at bringing out the issues within our society. It’s always a treat to watch the great talent that not even Hollywood can do so well in their long movies!! Kudos!!

A perfectly realistic horror movie which every woman experience to act as a central character in their own lives. I myself have experienced much more horrors in my life as a woman. Each can b made as a movie. This movie is reminding me many memories that I try to forget. A question is peeping in my mind after watching thi film, can't a woman ever walk alone in a desolate place without feeling part of a real life horror movie?

Wow, there's a lot going on here. It was really well done. The lighting, the way in which it was shot and the colours, especially the reds and pinks, remind me so much of It Follows. Even some of the music was similar.
