Thank you for introducing this curriculum to us! My ASD 7 year old isnt deficient in math, but keeping her motivated is a struggle. When I told her I found this curriculum she IMMEDIATELY got excited and asked if we can try it after Christmas 💕💕🐴🐎

Thank you so much for this video featuring my book! I happened across it as I was researching something else. What a lovely surprise. It does my heart good knowing HLM may be helping your daughter. This is exactly what I hoped for when writing the book. At times during the writing process I felt like I was writing to myself as a young, horse crazy girl who struggled with math. I hope you will visit the Horse Lover's Math (www.horseloversmath.com). Posts on the website are free and open to everyone. You'll also find the Level 1 workbook in print and download, math worksheets for download, and the first five sections of the Level 2 workbook! The idea behind Horse Lover’s Math is to make math and science visible in the area of a child's own interest-in my case, horses. For horse crazy kids, the motivation to learn is built in.

Deborah Stacey thank you so much for creating this math program. From the bottom of my heart. My daughter is still diligently working through book 1. I NEVER have to make her do math these days. It’s the first book she goes for in our homeschool basket, and even when she struggles to understand and the frustration creeps in, the motivation to move beyond it and figure it out wins.

Wow, Kayla, what a cool way to incorporate math! I love that we're able to do this when we homeschool; tailor the subject to our childs interests. This is a really cool option, I almost want to get my son interested in horses so we can try this! lol Thanks so much for sharing!

Crazy Busy Fit Mom it takes some work sometimes to incorporate their interests into subjects that we *think* can’t be related, but there’s so many resources out there now. It’s an exciting time to homeschool.

Sounds like you're doing all you can do to make the situation the best it can be for both of you. And you look amazing today.

I’m late to the game for this video, but look into dyscalculia as a possibility. My daughter has it and the tears didn’t stop until we started Gamma level (about 3rd grade) Mathusee at age 15. She now knows all her times table and can make change, which I thought would be impossible! Best wishes in this. I was honors and straight A math all the way through into college, so it was really hard for me to understand her struggle. Also, her big brother has Asberger’s, so he’s brilliant at math. Once we identified the solution, though, she’s flourished. You’ll figure this out, Momma!

Amy Reindl thanks for the encouragement! Since this video we’ve had drastic improvements in attitude over math. It’s such a relief when everyone has struggled and then the light starts shining again. I’m glad you found a solution for your daughter too. This is what makes homeschool so great. We can try so many different methods to see what sparks that interest in them the most.

I am one of the illustrators for HLM workbook. When I first came across Deborah's idea, I was thrilled to be apart of Horse Lovers Math workbook for young people. I was terrible with math in grade school and would have loved to have this book help me with my math anxieties too. I interviewed Deborah Stacey and offer a link for anyone who would like to read about the person behind this fantastic tool for youth to learn math. www.artgirlgallery.com/2015/04/horse-lovers-math-interview.html

How is she now, 3 years later? Did she finish the Horse Lover's Math?
